Varierende engelskkunnskaper hos de som jobbet I resepsjonen. Vi var to venninner som delte rom og dobbeltseng. Hadde dobbeltdyne, noe ingen av oss kan fordra. Forsøkte å forklare at vi ønsket to enkle I stedet. Det var helt umulig å få resepsjonisten til å forstå.Etter mye om og men fikk jeg med meg en ansatt på rommet, slik at de forsto behovet.

From the moment I checked in to the hotel I was treated with respect and friendliness. It was my birthday the following day and I requested a complimentary room upgrade which I got plus flowers and a bottle of wine in my room too. Robert ( Reception) was charming and quietly arranged everything. The food at breakfast and dinner in the La Caravelle Restaurant was delicious and there was planty of choice for a vegetarian which can be limiting sometimes but was not so at this hotel. I was looked after at breakfast each day and Daniel brought me my camomile tea each morning without me needing to ask - he just saw I arrived and it was placed on my table for me. I enjoyed the beach and pool facilities and also a hot stone treatment in the Spa( Anna was lovely and very skilled). Al in all I would recommend this hotel highly and have stayed in many 5 stars around the world so I have some comparrison. This hotel is elegant, traditional, welcoming and a very relaxing stay.

The location of the hotel is excellent, beautiful view and only a few minutes’ walk from downtown. It is a stylish house with good service. Rooms are clean and decorated nicely. The indoor wellness center could be a bit more updated with steam bath and other facilities.

Very nice hotel, excellent location, very close to the Dubrovnik Old Town, excellent facilities. The food was ok, not a lot of variety from one day to the next. The room was nice, roomy, bathroon very small and a leak of the shower to the floor has not been fixed in apparently a long time since I mentioned it and one of the staff indicated it has been reported many times but never fixed. Excellent spa, very nice pool area andswin platform for the Adriatic.

Lack of variety in their evening restaurant dinner menus. Shower leaked onto the floor even when not in use and not repaired in a long time...I Wasnot the first to report it.

After island hopping and staying in inexpensive apartments, this was our splurge, and it was what we wanted. Beautiful room with terrace and wonderful view. Excellent service, including concierge. A complete breakfast for any culture or diet. English TV. Good AC. The pool area was very enjoyable. This hotel is not "dated", but a very good luxury hotel.

For many Booking.com readers, this is expensive. However, for less money, you will likely be taking a bus to the city, or walking up and down scores of steps. Be aware of that. It is a fifteen minute downhill walk to the city, but we enjoyed the post dinner stroll back to the hotel.

The location of this hotel was ideal for us as a more mature couple. It is on the quieter side of the city with only a 10 minute walk down to the Ploce gate. That does mean an uphill climb on the way back but it is worth it for the views. Grand Villa Argentina was everything I expected of a 5" hotel - there was an air of peace, calm and tranquility as soon as we walked into reception. Our room was luxurious, spacious and had fabulous views from the balcony across the bay and down towards the city. All the staff, whether it was in reception, the breakfast room or just as we wandered around the hotel, were friendly, courteous, hard working and extremely helpful. We had a wonderful four days here to celebrate a birthday and a wedding anniversary and both agreed we would definitely book Grand Villa Argentina again should we return to Dubrovnik. Fabulous!

We found nothing to dislike about Grand Villa Argentina.

Location, location, location. The breakfast that was included was fantastic. The outdoor location where it was served was just perfect to view the old town and Adriatic Sea, what a way to start the day. Hotel grounds provided great places to just sit and enjoy the views. Would love to go back. Room had a great view and was very comfortable.

Shower needed to be cleaned a little better, there was some mildew in a few places in the grout.

We loved the views from the rooms. Breakfast was substantial and good standard, staff was efficient, the sea right by the outside pool was wonderful, the view of Dubrovnik was breathtaking from the terrace.Dubrovnik was only a pleasant short stroll from the hotel.

Restaurant very expensive & my steak was chewy , would expect better at that price. Pretty view though. .

Excellent location. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful views of old town and islands. Room was spacious and very clean. Amazing choice at breakfast with outdoor dining and scenery. Well laid out hotel, stayed in old part of hotel which was more nostalgic. Comfortable and relaxing environment.

A little expensive for the room but sometimes you have to pay extra for quality and comfort.

No balcony in room. They also missed the opportunity to locate comfortable seats on communal balcony and garden areas.

Beautiful setting with wonderful views of Dubrovnik. Large comfortable room and balcony with electric awning. Good buffet breakfast. Short walk to Old Town so location perfect for sightseeing.

Pretty much the only positive thing is location - only 5 min walking from the historical old center of Dubrovnik. If you want a 5* hotel in this city, you are very limited in your choice with only few hotels, including GVA. The building itself is nice, with its own beach and pool. However, has definitely seen its better days in the past. The view on the Locrum island and a bay with yachts is spectacular.

As I said, the hotel itself is not new, but this is not the major disadvantage. The worst thing we had there was food and personnel. Croatian cuisine is poor, but food at GVA was the quintessence of dullness and tasteless. Guys, you have Italy right across Adriatic, how you can cook so badly? Btw in Montenegro, Serbs cook 50% better and price is 50% lower. With regards to GVA's staff, 90% of personnel do not know what a smile is, not even saying about some kindness or politeness to their guests. The only bright spot was at SPA club where girls were quite nice & friendly. Another disgusting thing was weddings conducted at the hotel - we had two (the second one even without a proper notice from the hotel) with drunken guests screaming till 2-3 am. Our conclusion is that we would not be staying in this hotel more than 2-3 days and just to see Dubrovnik. Otherwise it is a complete waste of money - you can go to Italy for the same price (for a 4* hotel with much better quality than GVA), or pay 50% for the same quality in Greece.

Air conditioning could have been better...

My wife and I stayed at The Grand Villa Argentina for three nights in August and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location of the hotel was perfect, although a bit of a climb from the old city to the hotel, but manageable. The views from both our bedroom (on the seventh floor, sea view) and the hotel foyer, restaurants and bars were spectacular, helped by glorious weather and coming from Scotland that was a real bonus! The bedroom itself was spotlessly clean, L'Occitane toiletries, bathrobes and slippers all provided and even a chocolate sitting on our pillows on return in the evening. The poolside was clean, beach towels supplied, plenty of beds, and being able to step from the pool straight into the sea was a delight. We only had breakfast in the hotel, but again, the staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was plentiful.Our transfer from the airport to the hotel was arranged for us and again, the driver was helpful and chatty, pointing out various places to us and suggesting definite things to do, given that we had a short time in the city. I would thoroughly recommend staying at The Grand Villa Argentina, yes, it's more expensive than some other hotels but you do get value for money and my wife and I felt it was worth every penny and hope to return in the near future.

The staff were always professional and attentive. The hotel was clean and well maintained. Loved the outside pool area and the choice of swimming in the sea. The outlook is beautiful. I would recommend this Hotel to families and for couples.

On the whole it was lovely. We stayed in the old part across the road and was not a problem at all. Front desk staff very friendly and accomodating. We chose to stay at gva as a friend was getting married and was having her wedding reception at the hotel. That was a wonderful experience and discovered a lot more of the hotel. Breakfast was great with lots to choose from with plenty of fresh fruit, Bucks Fizz as well if you could manage it. Sea view from pool area was spectacular. The grand Yachts and boats and cruise liners all made it a beautiful view especially at night when all lit up. Ten minutes walk to The Old Town - perfect. Location - top marks.

Few things that spring to mind, Air Conditioning in the room was practically non existant. It was left on, full 24/7 and hardly made a difference - not good. The bath towels were very thin almost thread bare (not good at all for a 5 Star Hotel) and nowhere near big enough. A big problem for me - I love the sun and heat, however I am a very fair skinned ginger haired lady... Even with sunblock I need to be completely in the shade when around the pool relaxing. This meant having 2 Umbrellas to myself and then my friend wanting one for her. You are packed like sardines around the pool and I was causing a few problems for other residents. They were not happy at all with us having 3 umbrellas. The umbrellas are so small and really a waste of time. They provide one between two sunbeds. We had to get to the pool first thing to make sure we got sorted out. For these three reasons I would not return to Grand Villa Argentina as I think for what they charge you should have luxury thick large towels, the Air Conditioning should be spot on. The pool situation is personal and majority of people were fine but a major problem for me. Luxury 5 Star to my experience is being able to move around. Not packed like sardines. Tea making facilities would have been good.
