I had a room on the top floor which only had a skylight instead of a "normal" window. This made it quite hard to do things like applying make-up and styling hair as the electric light was also quite dim, but bearing in mind Varazdin was completely fully booked during Spancirfest it was a small quibble in return for a room in the centre at a reasonable rate.
Hotel Istra is very central and within easy walking distance of the town centre, the Old Town, the Castle and the railway and bus stations. The Reception Staff are extremely heplful and efficient, speak excellent English and go out of their way to help, Wifi is fast, and the bathrooms have a bathtub as well as a shower, which I love as I personally much prefer a bath. I stayed at the Hotel during the very busy Spancirfest and expected the room to be noisy at night, but, in fact, the room was quiet and I had no problems sleeping at all.
