- location and the distance from the see was very pleasant; - the rooms we have was very old but because of the style of the hotel it was positive to me; - restaurant and the atmosphere was beautifull; - what we love the most was the personnel in the restaurant (respectfull, customer oriented, very kind). We can not eat Gluten so I was affraid that there will be no choice for us, but we asked the personnel during first breakfast about the posibilities and they prepare for us separate food for the dinner and even they baked a special bread for us (Gluten Free)! To be honest, I was not expecting such approach and I was shocked - it very positive way. I know Croatia pretty well and this was not my first stay, but Opatija as a city is quite different and the services was the best a have experienced ever. Thank you Imperial, we will come back for sure. - the only misunderstanding was with dinner. If you go through booking.com you have to order the dinner during your check-in. Then you can have the dinner for 5 EUR/person, what is great price. We didn´t know about it (nobody informed us during the check-in) so we ordered the dinner next morning after personnel informed us that there will be posibility to have a food withou glutamine. The problem was that they wanted to charge us 110 kuna/person what is aprx. 15 EUR per person. The reason was that they did not book the dinner for us during the check-out and if you just come for the dinner without ordering that in advance, the price is totally different. But the personnel was very kind to help and we have the price 5 EUR. - Just one warning, if your room have street orientation it could be loud during the night.

Good position (in a very center of Opatija), stuff very kind and helpful. Overall price was very good. Hotel is "old-style". Rooms need to be completely renovated. Breakfast is rather common, slightly dull.

The hotel was really interesting with the double entry doors, and triple windows. The decor is somewhat sparse, but interesting with old door handles and other hardware, tall ceilings and window curtains, old radiators... Giving you a glimpse at what things might have been like a long time ago. The morning breakfast selection was the best offered at any of our stays in Croatia. The beds are not the most comfortable, but adequate.

The old worldly appearance of the hotel. The staff were very friendly. Close to restaurts. Close to the sea. It would have been a perfect stay if the hotel had free internet service.

It was like going back in time. It had the feeling of the 1920s. Elegant and grandiose! The rooms are huge and clean. Furniture are actually old, but this adds to the feeling of the 'imperial', as the name suggests. It's very close to the beach, beautiful view on the sea. The dining room is marvelous, such as a ball room in the palaces of emperors. And the breakfast was very good, a big variety of choices. For this price, this hotel is a very good choice! No fridge in the room.

The location is perfect, there is even free parking for hotel guests (a little bit further up), although sometimes the food was not too tasty but there is a big selection of different dishes and the buffet dinner (if you ask for half pension at the receprion upon arrival) is only 5 eur per person. Beach is just a minute away and it is great eapecially for an open, cemented downtown bathing place. One can't really complain. The building and rooms would need some reconstruction ans renovation but for the price this is worth. Staff is average, sometimes not very professional but there was no peoblem at all.

Great old resort. The beautifully restored ornate dining room was a marvelous trip back in time to the days of European elegance. If you are history buffs and enjoy catching a glimpse into the glory days of an Adriatic Sea spa town 100 - 150 years ago, you will love the Hotel Imperial. The room was lovely. The bathroom was modern and the a/c was two open windows. If you drive, parking is a challenge. Make sure you reserve a parking space with the hotel when you book. There are very few spaces available and a reservation is an absolute must.

Nice old building from the 19th century. Reserved parking (in front of the hotel) is much cheaper than parking on the street. Very near to the beach. The beds are at least 30 years old and uncomfortable - you can feel each and every spring and they squeak like hell. Breakfast is dull (however the personnel are kind and helpful). Windows and doors don't close so well as these are also at least 30 years old.

The positive and helpful attitude of the staff. The wonderful sense of history associated with the hotel strengthened by our arrival on the night of the Kaiserfest when the hotel celebrated its memory of hosting the former Kaiser Wilhelm as one of its frequent guests through historical reenactment and pageantry. The building which lived up to its name of 'imperial' with rooms on a grand scale including balconies overlooking the sea and town. The abundant breakfast in a vast dining room with chandeliers. The opportunity to explore Opatija which is described as the riviera of Croatia and the tourist museum which explained the influence of Austrian rule on the area's development so lucidly.

I liked the historical dimension of the hotel. Helpful and nice staff as well. The setting in which the hotel resided was a strang one. Like a twisted time-dimension or an ecclectic mix of croisette in the eighties, families and survivors of many centuries, grumpiness, noisy music, heavy cigarette smoke, heavy, heavy perfumes, and not so good food, crowded and narrow.
