I thought the people in reception went beyond the call of duty in their helpfulness and they smiled alot which was great as we had some encounters where people were feeling the effects of the long season!!. I would also next time prefer a room with a terrace if there was one available but would recommend th place very highly.Of course its in a busy area and could be noisy but we loved the close proximity of everything.

We loved the location in the old part of the town. We only used it as a one night stopover at the start of a cruise and cycling week and chose it so that we could spend a day in Split. We cancelled the room the following week as after a tiring week of cycling we needed somewhere nearer the airport but if came to Split again would use again and certainly recommend to friends.

Great location only 600m from train/bus terminal; if a little hard to find (we had to ask). Very helpful staff. Quiet, away from main street.

Hotel Slavija was excellent, I was there for my stag weekend and all of the 16 lads on it didn't have a bad word to say. The staff are very friendly and helpfull and gave us all the information we needed. There is a nice little bar and plenty of nice restaurants right on the door step. I would recommend Slavija for any stay in Split.

It was a privilege to stay at this lovely hotel which is protected by UNESCO. The hotel receptionist, Mirjana Svagusa was extremely helpful and offered us a lot of ideas which helped us make decisions on how to plan our 4 nights' stay. It is so nice to be greeted by staff who love their job & you can tell she was very passionate about hers. Hotel Slavija is very fortunate to have dedicated & knowledgeable staff like mirjana. We didn't want to leave in the end. The location was perfect, the sights to see are within walking distance and it was not difficult to ask for directions if you got lost.

The location was perfect. It was an easy walk from the ferry area, even with luggage. The hotel receptionist was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. She even offered to switch our room to a main floor when she saw we had luggage. It was a little noisy at night (there's a very cool bar with outdoor seating in front) but the ambiance it provided was worth it. It was a little hard to find but as long as you enter the old town through the proper gate and pay attention to the signs its fine.

Despite warnings in guide books we heard no noise from neighbouring bars. The receptionists were especially helpful and knowledgable. The hotel suited us very well. Climb to 3rd floor with cases was hard work but the location of the hotel made up for that minor inconvinience.

The staff at the Hotel Slavija was very friendly and helpful from the minute I walked through the door. The location of the hotel could not have been better for a visit to Split. Free breakfast every morning was very nice as a start to the day. I would recommend the Hotel Slavija for anyone visiting Split and will definitely be returning to this beautiful city. Internet access in the room would have been nice, but it didn't really bother me as I was on vacation and not surfing the web.

Great location! Very historic. Nice staff, especially during the day where the girls that work at the hotel spoke excellent english and had good restaurant recommendations. The evening staff were nice, but communication was a little more difficult. BTW, right outside the hotel at night is a great party up and down the steps. Pubcrawlers, etc. One older guest came down screaming and yelling at the poor receptionist, because of the noise, so don't stay here if you want to go to bed early and don't want to close your windows at night and use the air conditioner. We arrived by train and luckily a nice Canadian man overheard us asking for directions; he had stayed at this hotel before and walked my wife and I to to hotel steps. Get directions before you arrive, it is not that easy to find, especially when it is hot and you are hauling suitcases. We were on the 4th floor, actually amounts to 6 flights of stairs from the street which when you are hot is not that great. Luckily the room had good air conditioning.

This is the only hotel within the walls of Diocletian's palace and is a fantastic location for visiting the city. Personnel were very pleasant and helpful. For example the owner's son came over on Sunday night to accompany me to the garage (10 min walk), a much cheaper option than the town car parks. The hotel is pretty hard to find if you arrive by car. Park in the car park on the sea-front (Riva) and walk. You cannot drive to the hotel, although your gps may tell you otherwise. Rooms are pretty basic and you are paying for the location. The situation within the walls of the palace mean that any works have to be approved and invariably turn up Roman remains (main breakfast room closed as they found a Roman mosaic when doing building work). The bar downstairs is quite noisy, though good windows dull most of this out.

Location. Deco in the room is old, carpet is worn out, chair is broken. There is not even a kettle/fridge in the room. The bathroom smells and we had to switch on the ventilation in the bathroom overnight with the door shut to sleep. It is not worth the value and you would get much better value in renting a much nicer apartment (with way less $), which we did for the rest of our stay in Split. Breakfast choice was very limited.

The fact that is was in the old City of Split, my room was in the old building and the windows were triple glazed so the night noise was excluded. Also could see 1 of the famous towers of Split through 1 window No help to take luggage up stairs(no lift for obvious reasons) no shampoo or "bath gel" on 3rd day or 4th night, sachet of "bath-not shower- gel" when only a shower, and on 4th night 1 was left instead of shampoo. Air con timer difficult to adjust,. Attached hair drier had been stuck together and broke on use but a hand drier immediately replaced it on request. Breakfast from 6am -10am but when I appeared at 6am on last day- due to early departure-having warned reception the evening before, a surly lady was just preparing.. But only half the spread was there ie no rolls, eggs or fruit-or sausages (but I am veggetraian so no problem!) while I breakfasted

The staff were pleasant and the location within the walls of the Diocletian's Palace was excellent for sightseeing, shopping and close to bus and rail station and port for trips to the Islands. The room had a lovely terrace with chairs and table. The downside of the location is that there are two bars right on the steps leading to the hotel. Had a room at the front and the choice was to either have the windows shut at night and then have a noisy air conditioner or have the windows opened and be kept awake until the early hours and then awoken again a couple of hours later by some unknown noises. The ceiling light in the bathroom appeared to have a dead cockroach in residence. The mattress was lumpy. The breakfast choice of food was really poor with watered down orange juice and rolls cooked in a microwave (the partially pre cooked type). The cereal cornflakes were of a cheap variety with hard pieces of corn and the breakfast room was small and cramped. The price of the hotel room did not give value and is obviously priced on its location in Split.
