I thought the people in reception went beyond the call of duty in their helpfulness and they smiled alot which was great as we had some encounters where people were feeling the effects of the long season!!. I would also next time prefer a room with a terrace if there was one available but would recommend th place very highly.Of course its in a busy area and could be noisy but we loved the close proximity of everything.

Hotel Slavija is the most wonderful place to visit one of the most wonderful places all over the world - Split. You feel history everywhere - combined with a comfort and a design as modern as it ever can be.

The staff were extremely friendly, very helpfully. The room Was very clean and stylish, all recently refurbished. The location was amazing right in the heart of the old town. You need to walk to the hotel from outside the old city as no cars are allowed, only takes 5 mins. Could do with tea and coffee facilities in room. The breakfast would good but fairly basic.

Right in the centre of the old town and part of the old palace walls. A lovely small hotel set on four floors (no lift) Good size modern rooms with comfortable beds for three and four people (not camp beds) We chose two rooms on the top floor which had adjoining terraces. Perfect. Very noisy at times because of surrounding bars and the cathedral bells. Did not bother us because we were aware of this before booking. Breakfast room is very small and serves a nice breakfast without a huge choice. What we ate was good and ample. Girls on reception are excellent source of info. Marjana (pronounced Mariella) will help with trips, transport, eating out, history etc. She is a city guide and speaks excellent English. She arranged transport by 6 seater to and from airport for 380k.A super trip and will definitely stay here again. There is much more left to see of this beautiful old country.Sue C Because we were made so welcome there was nothing of any consequence which I would critise.

The room was excellent and the service provided by the friendly and knowledgable staff couldn't be bettered. Good breakfast as well. It was good to be located within the palace walls where all the action was, however our room was as quiet as a mouse.

Really lovely clean hotel, recently renovated. Excellent double glazing blocks out the street noise! The hotel receptionist was exceptional - I've never met a receptionist who was so friendly or enthusiastic. She made our stay really nice. My only complaint about the room was that it was a double bed and a single when we are three separate people and would have preferred to sleep separately.

Super friendly stuff. Location is amazing and room is new and comfortable. Unfortunately, wi-fi didn't work for some reason. So if you really need it, it's wise to check it in advance.

The location was extraordinary in the very old city centre. Clean and freshly new room with the balcony was big and comfortable enough. The hotel staff always at our disposal to provide necessary information and support. Lovely place that we definitely recommend.

Its location is great, just within the old palace walls, a block from the waterfront, couldn't be better. It was reasonably priced, breakfasts were good. Staff were very friendly. For anyone who has trouble with stairs, this hotel might be a problem. It's up one flight to get to the lobby, and does not have an elevator. We did 4 flights to get to our room (to lobby then 3 more to our room). It wasn't a problem for us and helped to work off the pizza! It has been recently renovated, which is good, but the carpets and paint were rather smelly. Overall not a problem though.

This is the only hotel within the walls of Diocletian's palace and is a fantastic location for visiting the city. Personnel were very pleasant and helpful. For example the owner's son came over on Sunday night to accompany me to the garage (10 min walk), a much cheaper option than the town car parks. The hotel is pretty hard to find if you arrive by car. Park in the car park on the sea-front (Riva) and walk. You cannot drive to the hotel, although your gps may tell you otherwise. Rooms are pretty basic and you are paying for the location. The situation within the walls of the palace mean that any works have to be approved and invariably turn up Roman remains (main breakfast room closed as they found a Roman mosaic when doing building work). The bar downstairs is quite noisy, though good windows dull most of this out.

It was a privilege to stay at this lovely hotel which is protected by UNESCO. The hotel receptionist, Mirjana Svagusa was extremely helpful and offered us a lot of ideas which helped us make decisions on how to plan our 4 nights' stay. It is so nice to be greeted by staff who love their job & you can tell she was very passionate about hers. Hotel Slavija is very fortunate to have dedicated & knowledgeable staff like mirjana. We didn't want to leave in the end. The location was perfect, the sights to see are within walking distance and it was not difficult to ask for directions if you got lost.

The location was perfect. It was an easy walk from the ferry area, even with luggage. The hotel receptionist was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. She even offered to switch our room to a main floor when she saw we had luggage. It was a little noisy at night (there's a very cool bar with outdoor seating in front) but the ambiance it provided was worth it. It was a little hard to find but as long as you enter the old town through the proper gate and pay attention to the signs its fine.

Great location! Very historic. Nice staff, especially during the day where the girls that work at the hotel spoke excellent english and had good restaurant recommendations. The evening staff were nice, but communication was a little more difficult. BTW, right outside the hotel at night is a great party up and down the steps. Pubcrawlers, etc. One older guest came down screaming and yelling at the poor receptionist, because of the noise, so don't stay here if you want to go to bed early and don't want to close your windows at night and use the air conditioner. We arrived by train and luckily a nice Canadian man overheard us asking for directions; he had stayed at this hotel before and walked my wife and I to to hotel steps. Get directions before you arrive, it is not that easy to find, especially when it is hot and you are hauling suitcases. We were on the 4th floor, actually amounts to 6 flights of stairs from the street which when you are hot is not that great. Luckily the room had good air conditioning.

Good location but.. Difficult to access, no lift and tiny room with the bed pushed up against the wall. This was the worst hotel we stayed in during our 2 week tour. Breakfast was very disappointing too. Car parking was a 15 minute walk away and kun100 per night.

It was conveniently located and the shower was roomy. The breakfast included in the price was poor in quality and selection. There were a lot of stairs to negotiate with luggage.
