Hotel Stari Grad  

We liked staying in the old town, as it was a chance to see something of the interior of the houses in the town. It is brilliantly situated, has all the comforts we required, and also has a certain quirky character with having breakfast in the neighbouring small restaurant. The room was airy and beds very comfortable; and the double glazing well able to cope with the night time city sounds. Would certainly recommend it.

Broken shower door, water tank heater switch outside bathroom and needed to be switched on overnight to be able to take a warm shower in the morning Street notice at night

chose hotel mainly for the superb location , in the city walls of Dubrovnik.

only negative comment , would be the breakfast , very basic choice , could certainly do better with that.

No elevator.

Central location within city walls. Happy to look after our bags before and after cheque in as we walked around

Single beds when expected a double

The terrace on the top floor made it worth the number of stairs we had to climb to get there, although they no longer served breakfast up there during our stay. Wonderful location and lovely room (we were in 401).

A bit pricey for our normal budget, but, hey, we were right in the middle of Old Town Dubrovnik and the staff couldn't have been kinder,.

Stari Grad is one of only two hotels within the walls of the old town - an expensive but very cozy place with a fantastic roof terrace overlooking practically all of the old town.

Its situation within the city walls was brilliant. Friendly and helpful staff. Small and personal. Despite it being in the busy town it was very quiet.

We travelled with friends we ate out and looked forward to an evening watching over the town at night enjoying a bottle of wine. Unfortunately asked to leave the terrace at 10 o'clock so the hotel could lock it up. Not what we had expected, sadly.

The staffs were excellent, especially the owner . . . Ana or whatever her name is.

. The hotel was small and the staff were extremely attentive. The location was ideal for exploring the old city.

The hotel staff made the location--which was excellent-- come to life. A perfect place to stay if you're visiting Dubrovnik. Being inside the Old Town walls made all the difference.

My fiance proposed on the terrace of Stari Grad hotel on the first night we arrived. He knew as soon as we were given a tour of the hotel that this romantic treasure would be the most ideal place for a proposal. The owners and the staff were so sweet and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We are definitely coming back to see them!!!!

Location was absolutely perfect. Owners were charming and very helpful.

Don't go to it if you don't like walking upstairs -there's no lift!

Great location inside of the Old Town in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Once the issues with luggage were solved, we were like the natives walking and enjoying the sights and nightlife of the Old Town. The repairs after the war are almost complete, only a few private homes still show the effects of the shelling. All public areas are restored. The music and cultural life of the Old Town is wonderful. The hotel is the only true hotel in the Old Town, while apartments are available, the quality and cleanliness varies greatly, while the Stari Grad is like being a guest in a wonderful home.

Some better instructions for those that drive to Dubrovnik would be helpful. How to drop off luggage and where to park for the stay is a major issue in this town. Those arriving by plane or boat will have no problems as Taxi drivers know the game well.

On 4th floor, no lift in hotel. Satellite facility not available although advertised. Small shower ( no bath ) Not really at all value for money and I would not stay there again

The hotel was in a perfect location, within a couple of minutes walk of everywhere in Dubrovnik. As it is one of the older houses it had lots of character, and the roof terrace was fantastic.

The hotel has lots of stairs and no lift ( this is because it is a very old building and was built before lifts were invented ).

Staff was extremely friendly and tried to be as helpful as possible. Breakfest was in a restaurant next door to the hotel which was also very nice.

The in-room water heater failed to function on several occasions making it difficult to shower but the staff called for help so the problem was fixed on both days within an hour or two. This was a minor issue.

Fabulous! Lovely room in a great location. Reception staff were very helpful, nothing too much trouble and always with a smile. Breakfast was very good and freshly cooked to order.
