Villa Town Gate  

Excellent location, great comfort, beautiful place to visit

The best thing was the location which was seconds from the main square.

We booked a superior apartment at Villa Town Gate, which was meant to be spacious and with a small kitchen. There was nothing that could be described as 'superior' sadly. The whole space was in dire need of some TLC. The bedroom fittings were the cheapest (MFI?) and there were many chipped off edges on the furniture. The kitchen was small -no probs with this -it was correctly described as such, but it was tatty with burnt surfaces covered up with mats, scuffed cupboards and a motley selection of over used crockery and cutlery. I had to ask the staff to clean a frying pan that had been left caked in grease from the previous guests. We couldn't find two glasses even from which to drink from. It's clearly a commercial success but with little consideration for real customer service/standards.

The location.

We were bumped to a smaller room without notifying us first. So they messed up. Then we had no air conditioning, 2 tv channels, worn towels, a tiny room and a cheap bed.

Villa Town Gate is a great place to stay in Hvar. It is 2 minutes walk from the bus station and 2 minutes walk from the harbour so in the prefect location. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room clean and comfortable.

Great location. Short walk from the port at Hvar Town, just off the main plaza, close to lots of restaurants and a short walk to the fort. It was a nice building too, not fancy but very cozy.

Right in the center of Hvar. Excellent location. Good price. Very comfy room.

The location was convenient.

This is not a hotel, it's just a room in an apartment building. One person could hardly fit into the bathroom, which didn't look clean and the shower was leaking outside, into the bathroom floor. In the morning, while we were sleeping, the cleaning lady attempted to get in without knocking and never returned to clean the room. The level was too basic to justify the cost.

The location of Villa Town Gate makes this a great choice but do not be mislead thinking this is a hotel. These are rooms right in the centre of hvar town so those looking for an hotel experience could be disappointed. However the two rooms that we bookded were all adequately equpped, very clean and the beds are really comfortable. And you are steps away from a great selection of restuarants and the harbour. Again there is a downside to this as there was some noise but as we were only there for a couple of nights it added to the atmosphere. In the room there was some really useful information provided about Hvar Town and we took up a number of their recommendations which were great. So an ideal base for exploring Hvar town and we would definitely go back to Villa Town Gate. We found some great beaches a short taxi boat away and you should check out Hoola Hoola Beach along from the harbour.

We stayed for five days at the villa town gate apartments and really enjoyed the stay. The location was fantastic, right in the centre of all the best restaurants and 20 seconds from the main square. The staff where extremely helpful both before we actually arrived and during our stay. Would definetly recommend this apartment to others.

The only thing I could say I dislikes was the 3 flights of stairs to get up to the apartment, which isn't the easiest with our luggage.

The location, staff and info available at Villa Town Gate was great. The place was just off the main square, where most of the sights and places to catch taxi boats were available. The staff also made themselves available to store our bags as we arrived at 8am, and was very friendly throughout our stay. There was a small info pack in the room that gave an overview of Hvar and recommendations. Location was just amazing!

The room we stayed in was directly facing the street with the restaurants, and in the evenings, this got noisy, even with the double glazed windows. Light sleepers may find this a dealbreaker. We really liked the location, and didn't mind this.

Excellent location and comfortable rooms.

We stayed on the top floor and had to carry our suitcases up 4 flights of narrow stairs.
