Well my comment in unusual in that I booked Hotel Vis but was sent to hotel Uvula across the road. I was very disappointed with this, as this was not the hotel I booked and I chose Vis because of its location on the beach. Our room at Uvula was very smelly ( so much so that we had to leave the door open therefore air con didn't work.) nd the carpet was covered in stains. I didn't even want to walk on IT.would have asked for another room, but we too tired to move after carting our cases from Vis where we thought we were staying. Very diasppointing end to our Dubrovnik trip.

Perfect location right on the beach, but close enough to Dubrovnik for sightseeing. Room was light and airy with a spectacular view over Lapad Bay. Hotel was spotlessly clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. You can use the facilities of the hotel across the road - infinity pool, indoor pool, and jacuzzi. No tea coffee making facilities. Having to pay to use a sunbed on their private beach. Very limited bar!

A good comfortable hotel just by seaside, a great Adriatic view. Hotel is clean and it has good value for money. Easy access to city center by bus. Needs to be renewed. No lift, so not good for disabled.

A good value budget travellers hotel-part of a group of 4 or 5 hotels in Lapad.Caters for group tours and provides a buffet dinner for a reasonable price. The breakfast included was pretty good. We stayed at the tail end of the season where things were fairly quiet and it served us well.Room is large enough for two, clean, the waters hot and the beds comfy. It would be much busier and nosier in season I suspect. The number 4 bus whips you into town every 20 minutes from outside the hotel. For the walkers its easy to head down to the Lapad Beach and then follow the path up the headland to the left.A Couple of nice cafes to stop for refreshment if required.Turning left takes you past a number of hotels, bars, restaruants and a tennis court to the local shopping centre. Better to follow this route and proceed straight on to Gruz rather than head towards Dubrovnik, there plenty of buses to move you from Gruz to Dub if required.. Like Dubrovnik,Lapad seems to be a cat haven. They are everywhere.Domestic or feral I know not but there are plenty of them. The hotel itself has at least two which will sneek into the internal restaurant from the external one, given the chance.Dont think its good hygiene, particularly for hordes of summer guests but thats my opinion. Steps are also part of Dubrovnik. If you can circumvent the city walls you should cope with being billeted on the hotels third floor-no lift here. From the road to your room you will be climbing or descending very frequently to get to your destination.

The location was excellent - only a 5 to 10 minute bus ride to the old town and the bus stop was right across the street (although we chose to walk to the old town, which only took about an hour). We had a rental car and there was lots of parking close to the hotel. The breakfast had a good selection and we had dinner on one of the nights at the hotel and again the buffet had a very good selection. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and had a great view of the bay.

Excellent location by its private beach, lovely environment at Lapad, unspoiled view across the bay. Excellent bus service into Dubrovnik making it possible to enjoy a cultural, city holiday while staying in a lovely place. The hotel has good facilities and is a good quality building, well finished to high standard for its age. Staff excellent and mostly helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good with masses of choice and lots of fresh fruit if not real fruit juices. Only one thing which cannot be changed and would be an advantage during the heat of summer. During the second week of October I could not use my nice sea view balcony because it faced north and received no sunshine.

I found all the reception staff to be most helpful and courteous, I also found all of room service employees to be friendly. I also found Matthew, Frano, George and Jelica extremely helpful and most pleasant. I also found most of the restaurant staff to be polite. I also found that young man in the restaurant to be most pleasant. (I did not get his name). I will stay again at the Vis in the future. The pillows uncomfortable.

Room was clean and with air conditioning. Nice people at reception desk. They gave us instructions of how to get to Dubrovnik city, buses, etc. The main highlight of this hotel: directly connected to the beach.

Exellent location, right on the beach, you can rent sunbeds for 30Kn pr day which is a good price. It's close to a bunch of restaurants and bars ( but not to close, noise etc. ). It also has a busstop 15 meters from the hotel, and the bus will take you right to Dubrovniks old town in 10 minutes for 12Kn pr. pax. ( I used taxi, about 65Kn. a bit faster and much less crowded...) Hotel Uvala is just across the road, and has a nice spa..( try mediterean aroma therapy massage 200Kn for 50 min....amazing ). The food is not good at all, breakfast is crappy. Don't waste your money at the dinner buffet ( 120Kn pr. pers. + drinks, not worth it ) The staff working in the reception was unprofessional, but at least they tried... Old hotel, in desperate need of a makeover, some paint etc. etc. Lack of wifi in room. Lack of safe in room! No minibar/fridge in room.

The hotel is in a great location - with access to Dubrovnik just a short bus journey away - and the number 4 bus stops just outside! The staff are friendly, courteous and helpful. I've stayed here twice now and yet again, will definitely be going back. Highly recommended - with great views across Lapad Bay..... Just lovely.

“Hotel Spendid has a great location, on the water in Lapad. It's a short bus ride to the old town, with buses every 20 minutes. Room with balcony overlooking the water. Room was clean, with good bathroom and shower. Breakfast was good with good selection. Hotel has outdoor patio overlooking the bay for breakfast. Staff speaks excellent english, very friendly and helpful. There is no road between the hotel and the water making for a real water front experience. Water is crystal clear and there is a good set up for water front sitting and swimming. Highly recommend for combining relaxing at the water with visiting Dubrovnik.” Robert, Pleasanton |
