Well my comment in unusual in that I booked Hotel Vis but was sent to hotel Uvula across the road. I was very disappointed with this, as this was not the hotel I booked and I chose Vis because of its location on the beach. Our room at Uvula was very smelly ( so much so that we had to leave the door open therefore air con didn't work.) nd the carpet was covered in stains. I didn't even want to walk on IT.would have asked for another room, but we too tired to move after carting our cases from Vis where we thought we were staying. Very diasppointing end to our Dubrovnik trip.

Excellent helpful staff with a great location as the hotel is right on the beach but the bus service to the old town is excellent and very convenient to the hotel.

Perfect location right on the beach, but close enough to Dubrovnik for sightseeing. Room was light and airy with a spectacular view over Lapad Bay. Hotel was spotlessly clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. You can use the facilities of the hotel across the road - infinity pool, indoor pool, and jacuzzi. No tea coffee making facilities. Having to pay to use a sunbed on their private beach. Very limited bar!

good location, sea view rooms worth the extra. lots of steps and no lift, so difficult for disabelled access. No pool but with its own stony beach and very clear water. bus right outside for old town access. breakfast buffet ok but a toaster would be a plus.

A good value budget travellers hotel-part of a group of 4 or 5 hotels in Lapad.Caters for group tours and provides a buffet dinner for a reasonable price. The breakfast included was pretty good. We stayed at the tail end of the season where things were fairly quiet and it served us well.Room is large enough for two, clean, the waters hot and the beds comfy. It would be much busier and nosier in season I suspect. The number 4 bus whips you into town every 20 minutes from outside the hotel. For the walkers its easy to head down to the Lapad Beach and then follow the path up the headland to the left.A Couple of nice cafes to stop for refreshment if required.Turning left takes you past a number of hotels, bars, restaruants and a tennis court to the local shopping centre. Better to follow this route and proceed straight on to Gruz rather than head towards Dubrovnik, there plenty of buses to move you from Gruz to Dub if required.. Like Dubrovnik,Lapad seems to be a cat haven. They are everywhere.Domestic or feral I know not but there are plenty of them. The hotel itself has at least two which will sneek into the internal restaurant from the external one, given the chance.Dont think its good hygiene, particularly for hordes of summer guests but thats my opinion. Steps are also part of Dubrovnik. If you can circumvent the city walls you should cope with being billeted on the hotels third floor-no lift here. From the road to your room you will be climbing or descending very frequently to get to your destination.

Room was clean and with air conditioning. Nice people at reception desk. They gave us instructions of how to get to Dubrovnik city, buses, etc. The main highlight of this hotel: directly connected to the beach.

The location in Lapad is perfect for a stay in Dubrovnik. Bus no 4 stops outside the hotel and it's only a 10 minute ride to the old town

Excellent value for money (under AUD 100 per night) and a good location with easy access to Dubrovnik old town by bus or 45 minute walk. I had a balcony with a sea view.. No swimming pool is a bitof a disappointment in a seaside hotel but you get what you pay for and I didn't pay much so I can't really complain. Overall the hotel feels a little dated and could do with some renovations. Internet connections very bad - there is only one shared computer for guests in reception. The free wi fi didn't work for me at all.

If you visit this hotel, get a room with a seaview!!! views of the mountains, the beach (rocks), the crystal clear water. Amazing!! the rooms are good size... a bit outdated but very clean and comfortable. the staff are fantastic and very friendly. location is a 20 min bus ride from the old town but rent a scooter for 20Euros a day and get there in about 10 mins -- great way to get around and see the city!!! i wanted an iron but they are banned in the hotel. A little disspaointing but the maids will do it for you at a reasonbale price. the tv had cable and english channles but was very small.

Easy access to the beach, balcony with a beach view. Breakfast was served on the balcony, right next to the sea. The room was extremely small, the two beds arranged head to toe, opposing each other, with limited space to move around them. The bathroom had inadequate lightning and non functional basin water tap. Parking was hard to find on the street. Staff wasn't too helpful and had difficulties to communicate in English.

The staff was friendly and the room was clean and the bathroom was exceptionally nice. The clerk did not mention that breakfast was included in the price and we had forgotten as we were quite tired when we made the reservation. So we missed out on breakfast. I also thought the room could benefit from some upgrades. It photographed better than it looked in person. The comment from booking.com says I booked a balcony with a sea view. I do not consider something on the first floor to be a balcony.

The location was excellent - only a 5 to 10 minute bus ride to the old town and the bus stop was right across the street (although we chose to walk to the old town, which only took about an hour). We had a rental car and there was lots of parking close to the hotel. The breakfast had a good selection and we had dinner on one of the nights at the hotel and again the buffet had a very good selection. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and had a great view of the bay.

Excellent location by its private beach, lovely environment at Lapad, unspoiled view across the bay. Excellent bus service into Dubrovnik making it possible to enjoy a cultural, city holiday while staying in a lovely place. The hotel has good facilities and is a good quality building, well finished to high standard for its age. Staff excellent and mostly helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good with masses of choice and lots of fresh fruit if not real fruit juices. Only one thing which cannot be changed and would be an advantage during the heat of summer. During the second week of October I could not use my nice sea view balcony because it faced north and received no sunshine.

I found all the reception staff to be most helpful and courteous, I also found all of room service employees to be friendly. I also found Matthew, Frano, George and Jelica extremely helpful and most pleasant. I also found most of the restaurant staff to be polite. I also found that young man in the restaurant to be most pleasant. (I did not get his name). I will stay again at the Vis in the future. The pillows uncomfortable.
