The hotel is situated in the middle of a busy bar district and when you like that sort of a thing, the location is great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel has all the necessary amenities (even if not in top condition) and the free wifi works well.
Because of the location, there was lots of noise from the streets. There was also quite a bit of noise from the other rooms through the ventilation in the bathroom. And because the bathroom door didn't close properly, you heard it everywhere in the room. There was a general shabbiness to this hotel that would put it closer to the 2-3 star category.
Great location just minutes from the bars, the underground and the centre of town. Excellent size rooms and very friendly/helpful staff. Would highly recommend and would stay again. Excellent city as well.
Our room was very large and comfortable. The breakfast was rich. Thanks.
The location was excellent and the staff is knowledgeable and willing to assist.
Very good location, not far from the metro, the opera building. Nice area with nice bars and restaurants. Clean and room for a fair price.
I wanted to pay with my bank (debit) card instead of my credicard. It seems to be fine by the check in. During the check out on Sunday the lady was very admand ( not to say almost agreesive) that she wanted to my with my credicard instead. Finally I paid with my debit card but when I was back home and check my bank statement I realized my account was debited twice: by the time of the pre authorization and by the time of check out. Now I'm having a hard time trying to sort it out with the bank.
Staff very helpful. Location close to city centre. Rooms clean and tidy.
Standard double lacked space.. Street outside of hotel looked dirty. No bar for alcoholic beverage
There is nothing wow about the hotel, but just everything worked really well and we felt super comfortable.
the staff was really friendly, helpful and attentive - they cared about our requests and fixed them as fast as possible. there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel with good value for money. the hotel is located near the saint stephen basilica and it was possible to reach all our goals pretty quick cause of the near metro and tram station. the breakfast had a good standard with lots of things to choose from. there was also a sauna and wifi for free usage. it would also have possible to get free snacks in the afternoon - we could not try them cause of our tight timetable tho. all in all it was good value for money and i would definately recommend the hotel to other visitors.
we didn't get a double bed. there were just 2 single beds put together and so there was a (pretty big) gap in the middle of the beds. it wasn't possible to mail our postcards from the hotel. therefore we had to take them home with us, cause there was no open postoffice anymore.
The front desk lady and the guy at night are super ..I liked my stay here .
The two girls working in the breakfast area .Very rude as if they were doing us a favor
Cofee in the room
Elevator slow and small
The Hotel has an excellent location within walking distance to most attractions.
Often chaotic breakfast service with lots of food / cutlery / crockery missing. Pillows also uncomfortable.
Location, room was correctly cleaned
Poor tv programs offer, on chek in they requested guarranty for rooms, althought I booked by card. So I had to pay full sum of money in advance ( before stepping int room).
Proximity to transport. Wifi availability. Large room with modern bathroom. Helpful staff.
Street a little grotty. Breakfast average.
Location, very closed to the city center; large room; good and rich breakfast
old-fashioned hotel, (but maybe it is a normal standard for 4 stars hotel in Budapest); room a bit noisy since it was low floor with windows facing the street
Very friendly staff. In fact the most friendly reception staff I have seen in Europe. Always smiling and helping tourists out to make their time in Budapest really good. Location is also perfect within the Jewish district, close to all the good restaurants and clubs while walking distance to Opera Metro and many of the main attractions of Budapest
The air conditioning was not the best. May be it was because the temperatures were really soaring in Budapest and we were on the 6th floor but it never cooled well in 2 days we stayed in the hotel
Close to city square ten minute hike good pubs and close to all transport
No view but the price is right.
Breakfast buffet was excellent and we appreciated the 24 hours coffee/tea service. Walking distance to everything
No parking for "bigger" cars! ( F.Galaxy ) Only local TV - programs!
Location is great. Very friendly and resourceful receptionists. Clean.
As soon as I arrived at noon I was able to check-in. I didn't have to wait until 3pm for the check-in. The minibar prices are the cheapest I have ever seen. Free wi-fi was great. The hotel was well located. Not too far from the shopping area. The metro station opera is not far. The hotel is clean, great value for money and even includes an adequate breakfast for the room price. I will definitely go there again when I return to Budapest.
The outside of the building didn't seem that inviting. The breakfast buffet could offer more options but it was definitely adequate enough for the price.
Very small ans noisy room, the bathroom was not cleaned every day.
I have booked this Hotel for my parents and didn't want them to pay anything. The staff was very proactive and contacted me upfront to arrange everything so that my parents have hassle-free city-break. My parents were more than happy with the room and the bed, unfortunately there was an issue with the elevator. They got stuck there for more than an hour. The staff took good care of them afterwards, providing refreshment instantly and offering a dinner. Thank you Hotel Ambra and your staff in Budapest for taking good care for my parents.
It is not a negative, but just a comment that this is not a full-service hotel but so called hotel garni serving just a breakfast and drinks.
The stuff was very kind, the hotel is at a very good location near the center of the city. The breakfast was very good and rich.
There isn't bathtub at the rooms and we were with small children which was a little difficult to wash them, the beds were uncomfortable.
Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Close to all main features, easy access to restaurants, bars, etc., we had a very pleasant stay.
