Location, view, service, huge breakfast....must try!
The location is very good, about 15 minutes on foot to the Parliament. The double room was on the deck and it had a beautiful view of the Danube and of Margaret island. The breakfast was good and quite varied.
The wi-fi wasn't working that well.
We spent a couple of nights on the "love boat" and found it comfortable and quiet. It's in a great location, with some nice restaurants within walking distance. The best thing was how peaceful it was waking up on the Danube. Also, felt very safe walking back at night.
I already stayed at the boat hotel Fortuna in May 2011 and loved it! That's why I returned now and will like to return in future... I liked the uniqueness of that place - the hotel/boat which is anchored at the beautiful spot on the Danube in Pest.
Completely different experience, very clean rooms, perfect view, food is fine.
Guy from restaurant was more than unpleasant, unkind and unaccommodating
the staff was very helpful and the bed was comfy. many great cafés and pastry shops nearby. nice enough breakfast.
okay, where to start. we got a room very close to the entrace so the view wasn't what we hoped for. the cabin definitely had a *smell*, the wallpaper was scuffed and there were 3 large cigarette burnholes on our our bedsheet cover. low quality bathroom supplies in a really tiny bathroom. wifi signal was totally random. on the first morning at breakfast we poured orange juice and the glass was full of small fly-like creatures. (the waitress lady was nice and handled that problem though and it didn't happen again.) not the classy atmosphere they advertise, overall.
Helpful staff central location good breakfast comfortable bed
Poor wifi connection
Having read previous reviews we (a group of 5 guys between 45 and 55) booked the hotel based on the positive aspects of other comments. The good comments were accurate and we had a pleasant stay. We would defiantly recommend to others and stay again if in Budapest. It's just outside the main city centre but that's a good thing as it was nice and quiet. Good breakfast also.
This is a former river cruiser so the rooms are compact, though just about big enough. It's fairly dated in its dercor but nothing too bad. The onboard restaurant is ok but not our first choice to eat as there are better places in the local area.
We arrived after 11pm instead of the expected 9pm due to a flight delay but reception is 24hrs and even though the bar and kitchen had closed there is a mini bar in the room - i really wanted a beer :) This was reasonably priced (a 500ml can of Kozel beer, good lager, is 500ft - about £1.30. Having said that, it's usually 150ft in the shops but hey shops were shut. Enough of beer - the room was smaller than i expected (we had a small double) but was still ample for two, with a prefab shower room installed so the toilet was right next to the shower stall, no separate area so there is the risk of water on everything in the room but just pull the curtain tight and don't flap about too much. The room we had looked out onto the river and Margit's island, which was so peaceful, and this is what struck me most about staying here, the quiet. You can see the beautiful city to the left of you and watch the trams go over Margit Bridge but you're just far enough away to savour stillness. It is about a 7-10 minute walk along the river edge to the tram stops for tram 2 which takes you all along the Danube to various great locations in the city. You can get to the hotel by taking a Metro to Lehel Ter, which looks closer on the map as you assume you can just cut through St Istvan Park, but not once when we walked that way did we see the gates open so inevitably had to walk about 20mins around it. The breakfast was great - everything you'd expect a country like Hungary to provide: eggs, sausage, eggy bread, breads of all kinds, jams, spreads, yoghurt, kefir, cereals, cheeses, salamis and hams, pate, cakes (...) juices, teas, coffee, etc etc. I loved breakfast there. The bed was very comfortable, the shower hot, the staff were friendly, the look and feel of the boat was very atmospheric (long low dark wooden corridors and brass handrails, doors out to the decking etc).
location being on a boat breakfast
Cleanliness, good location, breakfast.
Wifi, television and air condition did not work.
Nice to wake up with a view on the Donau. City center is a 30 minutes walk. Buda-side 45 minutes walk. Breakfast buffet is very good, WiFi also.
Small room and bathroom.
We stayed on the boat 4 nights. Our room had two single beds, wardrobe, fridge,TV,full length mirror and en suite shower room. It was very spacious. Towels are provided. The buffet breakfast had excellent choice from cooked to continental choices. Excellent value for money. Would definitely stay here again.
There was no kettle or hair dryer in the room...but really this wasn't the end of the world. Only a trivial observation really.
I have stayed there several times, that says it all
This hotel does not have fresh air in the room! It was so bad smell!
The upper deck at night was lovely to sit and have a drink you could also bring I'm your own wine. The were beds comfortable. We had one of the smallest rooms but again very comfortable.
The room was very warm all the time. It did have air con but it wasn't the best we had ours at the lowest posicble temperature and still very warm. You could not open the windows.
gluten and diary free options available , very impressed.
The novelty of being on the water. Good breakfast, varied and the kept restocking as required. Restaurant goodfood service& views.
A bit far from the centre.
Good location, 12 minutes walk to city center. Good food
Location and Price was great. On site restaurant was very good too
We enjoyed very good breakfast, I recommend having a cup of coffee after at the top deck with great view of Budapest and mighty Danube.
The location is at the centre (few mins. Walk from the transports & shops and very close to fast food chains & various restaurants & tourist spots). Moreover, accommodation fee is at reasonable price in comparison with other hotels/apartments. The view of the river from the bedroom added to an already calm and peaceful ambiance.
the Boat hotel Fortuna is well placed to see the sites nice an quite great help full staff just a good place to stay. Value for money the food was good.
the tv was just news when on holiday its to get away from that. the WI FI was not that good could not connect
Convenient location, close to baths; being on the river; quiet hotel; nice breakfast.
Nothing I can think of
+ excellent situated + tasty breakfast + good choice for one or two nights
+ very small and uncomfortable bathrooms in the low standard + problems with TV
