Good price, helpfull receptionist. Room was not bad. Location. Hotel is far away from the center, but on 3-rd day of staying in hotel you can find normal way to get to the downtown. Again location, I think this part of Budapest is some kind of local ghetto. A lot of drunk people on the last tram stop.

Free parking, free internet and good value for money. Far from city center. In winter time the heating might be a problem.

The location is great, especially if you are there with the car.. It's 15min to the center and it's very easy to find it. Also for the weekends there is free parking everywhere, so we went with the car to all main sights of Budapest. The rooms are simple and ok for this price, also the breakfast was great...

I liked the peacefulness it offered, being along the river. It was a little confusing to get into the city, however the staff were very helpful in making it easier. It's really quiet here, you can be assured privacy. The meals in the restaurant were really wonderful, I come from a strong hungarian food background, and the meals were just like grannies, and very affordable too. I would reccommend it if you have at least 3-5 days to discover budapest. Its lovely coming back from the rat race to tranquillity. Be nice if the staff took a bit more interest in conversing, as I was a solo traveller, it would of been nice to get to know them and about their culture more. Anyway... Great little gem ...would go back. The deck area near the water could of been improved with some new chairs and making it more comfortable to sit outside in the evening. Even a small canopy would be great. The river is the hero of this city, I think they should make the most of it, for diners, and to have a glass of wine.

The hotel is not located in central Budapest but in Csepel. However, considering the price, the inconvenience of the journey into central Budapest makes up for it. The rooms are basic but comfortable. The breakfast ok, except the coffee. Ideal for people on a budget.

We asked for a twin room, and got a double bed???? The dining room and deck was never cleaned and food sat on the floor for 4 days. The staff were mostly rude and very unhelpful.

Unusual environment (boat). Unfortunately the weather was not fine and we were not able to feel the place entirely (I wished to have a cup of coffee on a deck but it was rainy). Very nice guy at the reception helped us with logistics. Location is not very convinient but we had a car and in our case it was not a problem. In any case the price was good and worth of 30 minutes trip to city center by bus.

It was nice to have breakfast and look at the river. You need to get used to little flies. The room is small but clean, no a/c, but we were ok with the small fan that was in the room. For the amount of money that I have paid for two nights and the time we spent there it was wortheth. The staff was very nice to gave us some towels for the Waterpark. It is not too far from the center if you have a car.

The airport shuttle service was very convenient as the hotel was not easy to find. The manager was kind to explain the use of local transport which was cost saving especially with the Legenda Pass which covered all forms of transport. He gave us a map with the bus routes. Very useful. Advice to others.: Take No 23 bus only until you are running parallel with No 2 tram. Then switch. The tram goes deeper into the town centre and covers important sites. Use No 16 bus right from the bridge into the Buda Castle area instead of following the Legenda suggestions. Main problem is the distance from the town centre but that is compensated for by the low cost of room, and other facilities. Otherwise: no problems.

Price and cleanliness was great. The restaurant was ok, fairly good value, and it was really nice to be on the river. It was quite difficult to find, and was a long way out from the City Centre. You need to get an hve and a metro to get into the centre, and the hve runs about every half hour, and only every hour late on so it's not ideal. I'm sure with a bit more time we may have figured out the buses, which may have been more direct and regular. For the price, it was great but if I was to go again i'd want to be a bit more central.

Very Helpful Staff!!! All other things were good and normal - as decribed on the site. But only thanks to the patient help of receptionist we were abe to get our broken car working on the holiday day, and go on with our trip. Thanks again for your help! Oh, and a very good goulash soup at the evening of our arrival :)

“The City Hotel Matyas is one of the best things we faced during our 4 day visit to Budapest! Excellent staff speaking good English, wonderful breakfast at one of local must-visit-restaurants, best location, value for money! If you are looking for budget accomodation which can also provide you with the best location in the city - the City Hotel Matyas is probably the only one you need to choose! Special thank you to all receptionists - we've met many during our stay - they do their best! You may ask them for any help - and they are always ready to assist with any advice or immediate action!:)” Anna, Moscow |
