The staff was very friendly. The cleaning and our floor/room. The price and the location.
The building entrance... I almost turned back without enter. It is an old building. And does not look like an hotel, but rather a pension.
_The interior of the room was clean and bright- not over the top. _Large spa bath was an added bonus _Cable tv if you had seen enough of the city (hard to imagine) _centrally located
_Walking into the building was a bit daunting to be honest- slightly ghetto. But once you see the accommodation you relax. _Wifi in the room was pretty average _a bit of a smell in the room
Location very close to main sights and public transportation. Bathrooms very newly renovated and large showers (for a small European hotel). Wifi worked great.
Entry way is a bit sketchy, but once you are inside it is fine. My room was near lobby/elevator, so a bit loud in the mornings. However, if you plan to get up and go, is perfect (and I was never woken up at night).
modern, comfortable and clean rooms located at main street, in short walking distance to Deak Ferenc Ter (central square); metro line M2 just 50m away (Astoria) with direct connections to Budapest-Keleti and -Deli railway stations; bars and restaurants nearby; good breakfast outside but in a very cosy bar/restaurant nearby (entrance less than 50m away)
normal shower (additionally or instead of whirlpool) would be useful; staircase and elevator could really be maintained a bit by the building's owner (but the rooms are the absolutely opposite!)
Location is right in centre of town, reception staff very helpful, breakfast at cafe 2 doors up was sufficient and well priced.
The mattress!!! Terrible!!! The initial appearance of the hotel and the fact that it's the third floor of a building only.
I liked everything
Excelent location, near the metro. Excelent room and bathroom.
It´s locate in an old shared building. It wasn't a problem, just a little weird. Wifi was usable but a bit slow.
Great location, really clean and nice shower!
The entrance of hotel was a bit grim but don't let it put you off. Lots of stairs to climb.
Great Location Silent room Great breakfast for so little extra pay
the entrance of the building needs renovation, but once you arrive at the hotel everything is nice and clean.
Clean rooms. Excellent location in the heart of Budapest. Comfy beds.
Really dark and sketchy stairway/elevator to reach the hotel.
The hotel is great, recently renovated and modern, and the rooms are really clean. The bathroom was awesome: better than any other bathroom I've seen in similarly priced hotels. It's a shame I didn't had the time to enjoy the hot tub!
The building where the hotel is located is horrible, but as soon as you get to the hotel's floor everything is surprisingly clean and modern. The internet connection was not very good.
The room was spacious and very well-appointed. The air conditioning worked well, which was essential since my stay in Budapest coincided with 30+ weather. The staff was very helpful.
The breakfast at the Bali cafe was insufficient. When I travel, I try to eat a large breakfast, however, the cafe offered limited food and small portions. Moreover, the entryway into the hotel was very run-down and elevator seemed unsafe.
The Astoria metro stop was 100 meters from the hotel entrance. Also, being on the 3rd floor, I was glad the elevator always worked. Room 3 has a jacuzzi big enough for two.
WiFi in room 3 was down as much as it was up. I asked for 3 resets of the router in 4 days. And it was slow when it was up. The entrance to the hotel must belong to someone else because it was dark and dingy and not clean at all. The entrance was not marked on the ground level. If you didn't know the building number, you'd walk right by it. On the last day, they could not make my mastercard work (they asked for my birth date and were trying to create an account for me on some odd website without https in order to make it work. I relized this when they asked me to create a password) and they would not take American Express. I checked with my bank back home and there were no problems. So, I ended up going to an ATM at midnight to take care of my bill. With the number of young ladies eager to meet me that night, I can see how a jacuzzi would be beneficial.
Good location in the centre and good breakfast in the pub next door.
No parking next to the hotel in clogged by cars of Budapest is a tragedy. It cost us half a kilometer march with heavy luggage and the penalty for failure to pay parking as we arrived late and had no where to change some euros. In addition, the rooms are in an old house and has a the staircase which scares.
Nice concept of the mini hotel. Location
WiFi. Awful / absent The room was not serviced every day for some reason
Location, cleanliness, staff approach.
I like everything.
A nice touch with a welcome bottle of wine..
The entrance was very shabby. The hotel was hard to find being 3 floors up. We spent quite a while looking and even asking people in the area who were also unsure.
great stuff, comfortable and clean room
Good night sleep at great location. Nice room with jacuzzi.
Entrance at the street is a bit shady. No lights at the corridor.
Great location, nice personnel, beautiful, clean and quiet room
Located near a public transportation hub, so if you plan to use the excellent public transport in Budapest, it's a great location. Also near shopping and touristy restaurants and bars (try the Szimpla Kert, a ruin pub near the Synagogue, about 3 blocks northeast of the hotel). Big room, air conditioning worked well, daily cleaning and fresh, good towels. Great value for the price, would go back.
Same as the other reviews: the entrance is scary looking, beds not the most comfortable, and our street-facing room was a bit noisy, but not that bad. The wifi reception was also poor in our room after the first night (we were there 4 nights). I mentioned it to the receptionist who said she would restart the router, but there was no improvement - we had to sit in the reception area for a good connection.
very close to centre of city easy access to public transport large comfortable room pleasant staff breakfast cheap and nice just three doors up the street.
Everything was perfect. Very friendly and helpful staff.
An great hotel for the money-value combination in the very central heart of Budapest despite the peculiar building it's located in. Clean, huge rooms, reasonably quite, very modern in terms of facilities, some rooms even got jacuzzi and kitchens, ventilation properly functioning, friendly and helpful hotel staff, and a complimentary bottle of sweat wine in the kitchen to make it even better. Got a really cheap deal for July 2014, a huge room and will definitely get back. Thanks to all the hotel's staff for a very decent job and a pleasant stay!
1) Wifi is a joke - super slow - not even sufficient to perform an electronic check-in for the flight; 2) Although the hotel's location (in the very center in between two metro stations and nearby the largest synagogue in Europe) is superb, the building itself - where the hotel is located - leaves much to be desired. The hotel is on the third floor (to which you get by a tiny small elevator) of the old ugly house merging Austrian imperial style with Kádár's communist misery. The reception is isolated from the guests by a corridor and metal doors with separate bells. If you invite a friend over, you'll have to go down the building yourself to open. 3) Don't rely on the cab company the hotel is working with. The staff is polite to help you out. Yet the promised 5 min of taxi waiting turned into almost 20 and getting to the airport 30 min before the flight - remember they don't have a proper parking space and a taxi driver would have to get on the third floor, to acknowledge appearance before the receptionist - a truly weird system. There is a great chance, (s)he'd be lost on the way to the third floor...
Location. The staff were all friendly. Breakfast (served in a cafe on the same street as the hotel) was good.
The hotel itself is good and safe. However, the entrance hall on the ground floor is dark in the evening. On one evening when I came back to the hotel around twelve midnight, a homeless was sleeping just in front of the door of the building. It was kind of scary.
