Built in wonderful Art Nouveau-style and opened in 1918, the impressive Gellért hotel shares the building with the world-famous Gellért Spa, on the Danube riverbanks, at the foot of Gellért Hill.
Score from 1830 reviews Good

Score from 1171 reviews Wonderful
Wonderful staff... Hotel clean.. Toiletries alright... Room clean and new.....good location, nice breakfast.... We avail the sunday brunch buffet... Its lovely
Carpets and towels but shabby but clean...other than that everything went well.
Breakfast, service and cleanliness. Also good value for money
Poor WiFi signal Small bedroom
Hotel was perfect, staff were very helpful, always someone around if you needed help. hotel is in a perfect location, rooms are just more than what you expect for the price, and breakfast had all options covered. Cant recommend enough
Rating of 4* superior is accurate. Breakfasts were excellent. Rooms have everything you need and are modern clean and comfortable Good location with lots of bars and restaurants within 10 mins walk
The hotel is fabulous plus the location is perfect - staff friendly and professional, breakfast sublime. Would undoubtedly stay there again!
The ventilation in the room was a bit noisy and never switched off but didn't bother me much.
When we arrived there was a doorman that opened the door for us. After we checked in there was a bell hop to take the luggage up to our room. The room was very clean and it was just like the pictures online. We were very impressed at the level of service we received from the time we arrived to the time we departed.
Breakfast isn't included. It's typical of European hotels but if this is the only negative I can more than live with it.
Great, helpful staff Good facilities Modern room Nice bar Great breakfast
Staff very rude
Room was nice and modern, gym is good, good breakfast
WiFi signal was weak in the room
Great choice and quality at breakfast, and everything still being replenished right up to the end of service which is unusual. Location was great. Staff were extremely efficient and accommodating....on check-in we were offered robes and slippers when we enquired about the spa.....they arrived to our room literally a couple of minutes after we had arrived in our room. We phoned down to ask for a replacement kettle..this also arrived within a couple of minutes. The efficiency was very impressive and though expected in far more expensive hotels we have stayed in worldwide, has unfortunately often been lacking. The restored architecture in the lobby is beautiful. Our room looked out to the inner courtyard which meant the room was very quiet, which was great. Service was spot on and overall our stay was excellent value for money. We would choose this hotel when next in Budapest. A taxi to the airport arranged by the hotel was a fixed price of 8000HUF.
The room was a tad on the small side for a 5 night stay. Also would have been lovely to have a bath as well as a shower. Indoor pool is only 8 metres long, outside pool is smaller.
The room was very good, compact but not too small. The location of the Hotel was the main attraction, near to some great restaurants and bars and easy wwalkng distance from most of the main attractions.
Excellent stay for 3 days central location attentive service .
Nothing against the hotel but :- If you arrive at the railway station be very wary of taxi drivers. The official taxi drivers were charging our group over £18 to travel 2 KM (that’s the same cost as travelling from the airport which is more than ½ hr drive.) But when the price was reviled to us as we started our journey I started to question the price frankly I was concerned that he got our destination wrong. I had been travelling by taxi around various cities in Hungary before we arrived in Budapest so I knew how much it should have cost about £2 -£3 (I always give a big tip though because the fairs are so reasonable and the drivers pleasant) anyway we got chucked out the cab for daring to question the price and this was an official yellow cab by the way. One of us was slightly disabled so we were in a quandary , checked with the other cabs at the rank and all gave more or less the same price, So we started to look at the map and planned to walk, Then got an offer for about £8 so we took it just to get there. They catch you just as you get off the train - don’t be hustled.
Spacious room, comfortable bed, and good location.
The dim lighting
Zara hotel is one of those hotels that is not in the luxury category but it can be put in high standards category easily. The staff was excellent, very helpful and the room is spacious, the bed is huge, and overall the level of this hotel was unexpectedly high.
the breakfast was very good also hotel is clean and quiet
The location was good, bed was soft and shower was hot. Breakfast was ok, but not worth the extra money. Night shift front desk person was really kind and welcoming.
Was not given a bathtub as had been promised at the time of booking. Tried using spa. The hot tub was crowded with more than one person in it. The saunas were comically small. The "lap" pool was about 10 meters long. The hours were such that it was not possible to visit the spa before going to breakfast (there was about a 1 hour overlap between the time that spa opened and breakfast ended). Exhausted and trying to recover from jet lag but unable to sleep. Room felt too hot but could not turn down the heat and only window was in the bathroom. Housekeeping entered my room about 4 or 5 times throughout the day without knocking while I was undressed and covered in sweat in bed. Detailed my experience on one of those "how are we doing?" cards that I found at the hotel. Also told person at front desk about housekeeping persistently trying to enter my room at time of check out, to which he responded that I should have hung the "do not disturb" sign on the door. Manager stops me on the sidewalk as I am leaving the hotel to try to talk to me. I have 40 pounds of luggage strapped to my back and a dog tugging on his leash, and we have a very short walk to our next flat and a scheduled time we must be there. In the course of our conversation he tells me repeatedly that I should get a taxi to my destination but fails to mention anything about the report on my stay. Not even an apology. The pet fee was an astonishing 25 euro per night (I have a short haired dog with single coat-- sheds less than my ex boyfriend, doesn't bark, clean, social and well-behaved). Since booking at several other hotels around Budapest, this is by far the highest charge for a dog that I have seen (most range between 10-15 euro per night). All things considered, the hotel was really oversold. I stayed here to catch up on rest and have a soak, but was unable to do either.
A charming structure with first class furniture (beds have the best pillows ever!) with a super-kind and efficient personnel, serving abundant continental breakfast and with a cozy spa available. Position is central enough to live an overview of the whole city in few days.
A minor problem with the heating thermostat caused a temporary inconvenient, nevertheless immediately solved by a kind technician. Spa center is cozy but small and thus crowded in the central hours of the afternoon.
Interior design of bedroom.
Nice clean room and friendly and helping reception staff
sauna and pools quite small, no tap water to drink, only bottled water to purchase
Free wi-fi Good selection of food for breakfast Cleanliness Courteous and attentive staff Great location, walking distance from the Danube River, St. Stephens Basilica, Keleti Train Station, etc.
Immediate vicinity is quite dark during the night Few restaurants in the area
The helpful staff and the Spa facilities.
There were limited massages and I did not realise I would have to book in advance for massages. I also thhink the deal should have included breakfast and booking in erlier than 2 pm.
Excellent location, two minutes walk to Metro line 2 and Tram line 4/6 station, plus varies bus lines. Most importantly, all of them are key transport lines of the city. Very helpful staff.
Cleanliness is not very satisfying. Shoeprints (probably) are found on one of the sheets when checked in. Although the room seems to be recently renovated, the card reader on the door failed many times.
Spa small and cold. Room temperature is cold.
the hôtel is quiet
Rooms design, hotel interior design, helpful staff
