Comfort and Location
Love the fact that the spa is attached to the hotel, the staff is super-helpful and polite, breakfasts are gargantuic, superior rooms are spaciuos and comfortable. I highly recommend it.
Direct access to the thermal and swimming pools from the hotel. Entry price included. Excellent breakfast with lots of choice in a beautiful room overlooking the Danube.
The Panoramic restaurant was not open. Not possible to adjust the heating in the bedroom.
Position of the venue and its tradition
The Windows and balcomy doors are probably from the time of the hotel contruction.
The hotel is very grand but is showing signs of age and the room doors are very reminiscent of images I have of soviet bloc countries. The city is wonderful and a great place to enjoy on foot or especially on the city Hop on Hop off yellow and red route buses which you can pick up outside this hotel and includes a free one hour boat trip. Time must be allowed to enjoy the spa facilities at the hotel.
I found the reception staff a little inflexible and they struggled to smile!
Very luxurious communal areas of the hotel (think Titanic!). Wonderful art nouveau decor throughout. Uniformed/liveried staff, brass and wood panelling, stained glass windows. Lots of choice at breakfast (including champagne!). Excellent food in (low priced!) bistro under the hotel with smart, uniformed waiters. Spa just like in the photos. Atmospheric and relaxing (take goggles, flip flops and hat for swim pool). Room had a bath and provided robes as well as towels. Business centre will tell you how to get transport to anywhere in the city. Trams stop right outside. All staff speak excellent English.
Be warned that the rooms are basic (very clean). We didn't mind this. It's a good concept: cheap rate for a very luxurious hotel with basic rooms. Great idea.
The breakfast is very good (is served in a different restaurant then the dinner). Even coffee was good. The hotel itself is nice if you like retro style. Same goes for the swimming pool and the sauna areas. Good service, helpful staff. Interesting place.
WiFi connection was very VERY poor. Very expensive restaurant compared with what they offer for the money. You can eat way better for less in a lot of fine restaurants in Budapest. Service tax is included in the bill which means that the waiter treats you like he has a PhD and an MD and he is forced to serve you, which is cool if you like that type of service but definitely will not come back there for dinner.
Art Deco ambiance - beautiful stained glass, reception area, coffee shop and bar and of course the wonderful Baths
Very convenient, right next to a tram stop that took you everywhere.
The constant courtesy and helpfulness of staff, the old world splendour of the building's architecture, the spectacle of the mighty Danube and its bridges from my bedroom and balcony and most especially the gorgeous spa. Thank you for a wonderful stay in your very well managed hotel.
Only the constant sound of traffic and trams but this was expected from previous reviews and a minor inconvenience for the many benefits of such a central location.
Cannot fault this hotel or its staff. Any negative reviews I would assume would be down to one off incidents or over fussy travellers. If you overlook this establishment you ll be missing a treat and an unbelievable bargain!
Great value for money and a very nice buffet breakfast. Good location with hop on hop off bus at the door stop.
We had a back room. A room at the front overlooking the river would be amazing.
location and spa are great. The new metro 4 across street. Laid back feeling.
Old news about renovation. Dont at all understand why they dont just do one room at a time...
Spa, massage, heart of downtown Budapest (Szent Gellert ter) with metro, busz, and trolley access! The vistas are amazing too.. Try some palinka!!!!! ;)
Peculiar odors near the common restrooms available on each floor available as a courtesy to all guests. Hmm... Usually a few hours after mealtime :')
i was really disappointed by the room. The reservation said that we will have a view to the garden. Instead the view was just a wall. The carpet of the room was extremely dirty. So much that i didn't want to step on it with just my socks. The table in the middle was broken and we realized it when we tried to move it because the room had only one chair and one of us had to sit on the beds. Unfortunately the bad experience of the room didn't let us enjoy as much as we wanted the spa. And then it was breakfast. It was really impressing the buffet and everything until we found hair in the dessert. Overall we didn't enjoy the stay .
Good staff and location. But inside is a bit old looking
Great spa facilities of another era
Tired decor, insufficient seats at breakfast
I loved the historical ambience . Also the location was very good and the rooms were a good size.
Too complicated to the swimming pools. Had to take a lot of stairs, since there was no elevator.
Even is old style, a little cleaning and care can improve a lot. Broken door, poor and dirty bathroom is not common in a 4* hotel.
The hotel was much more beatiful compared to the photographs. It was very beautiful incide and the room was big and clear. The stuff was very-very kind giving all the information for a nice stay and a lot of busses just in front of the hotel helped us to our moovies. But i think that the most amazing place of the hotel are the famous spa, so dont miss them!
Breakfast was great with a wonderul view, but plates with some food when they got empty did not replaced at all.
We liked this old fashioned spa hotel with a large buffet breakfast. Access to the spa was through the hotel.
Very impressive hotel. Beautiful architecture, old and worldly.Location fantastic. Staff friendly and helpful.. Room was spacious, old fixtures and fittings. Shabby chic! Got one with a view over Danube which was beautiful. Thermal spa was a wonderful experience. Breakfast was excellent.. We really enjoyed our stay and would certainly go back.
No tea or coffee making facilities in room. When checking out and paying by card, was asked if I would like to donate money fom car toward tips for staff.
Staff. Location. Hot Pools/ Spa (Great!) Hotel had a mature historic feel, it had personality. We deliberately did not want one of those modern soulless cloned rooms that are the same everywhere in the world. WiFi connection was very good. Room was nice size(Superior Room). Breakfast was good.
There was a slight smell of old carpet in the room but you forgot about it very quickly.
The room, the bed, the view, the breakfast, the spa, the general ambiance of this lovely old iconic hotel.
The staff in the restaurant were a little disinterested and weren't proactive in their approach which was disappointing.
