Uniquely situated on the quiet, green Margaret Island in the heart of Budapest, the modern Danubius Health Spa Resort Margitsziget offers free use of its large spa area, an indoor and an outdoor pool,...
Score from 1010 reviews Very good
The spa alone is worth the visit. It's an architectural beauty and one of the largest in Budapest. Definitely worth the visit just for that.
The rooms where in need of an upgrade some 30 years ago.
It should be two pillows with that size
Great location, one of the best breakfast buffets, beautiful atmosphere, very friendly staff, wellness ara and thermal bath in the house
the atmosphere, the helpful staff, the excellent breakfast an the whole ambiance of the pl;ace, hope they never completely modernise - go to the other hotel chsins if you want chrome and smoked glass, I prefer the mahogany and bevelled glass!
Nothing at all that I can think of!
A magnificent building on the Danube that is a sight-seeing locaiton by itself right next to Gellert Hill and Buda attractions, and Pest can be easily reached across the bridge - Vaci utca and the Central Market are at a 10 minutes walking distance. Very nice breakfast Good prices Unique Spa and Thermal pools
Reception staff are a bit too formal but still helpful
wellness and spa
room, old accesories
Nice hotel with lovely staff. Perfect breakfast, clean and comfortable rooms. Spa was amazing!!!
The only negative part was stuff in the rooms, they were old. You have to take a tram to get the city centre, it only takes five mins.
Location. Building exterior.
Old and dirty room.
Very good breakfast. Nice time AT spa. Large room.
Noise from the street,
Friendly staff, excellent breakfast and the possibility to use the spa one for free
Good view of Danube Good value for money
It hasnt changed in 30 years. It should be clear in advance that one gets only 1 complimentary entry to baths and subsequent entries are charged, albeit at a subsidized rate.
Good location, Nice exterior of the building - especially when illuminated during night, SPA centre.
The furniture in room was pretty old fashioned and not so clean, one bed rooms so small with not nice view to the hill. The toilet definitely needs renovation: the paint was falling from the ceiling, toilet seat so awful with no proper flushing, both taps are not one handed, etc. Conclusion: Rooms should be much better for 4 star hotel
Liked the location, the helpfull staff, the excellent wifi and the free entry to the Spa baths
Didn't like the dodgy shower, broken hinge on toilet seat, knackered curtain rail and the tiny hotel bar
Very nice hotel with a nostalgic flair, comfortable rooms and good restaurant, extremely friendly and helpful staff - I had to leave one day earlier and could check out at 6 pm without any extra charge - this is very seldom
Wonderful old art nouveau hotel in a great location for getting around the city of Budapest. Staff were nice and friendly, the room, which was spacious, had a great view overlooking the Danube. There is a thermal bath under the hotel and in the rear garden there is an outdoor pool and heated pools. We were given one free entry to the baths during our stay. The breakfast was terrific with breads, cakes, fruit, cereals, cheeses, salamis and eggs bacon and sausages and all the tea and coffee you could manage. We had a wonderful time at the Gellert.
There is a tram stop outside the front of the hotel that is a little noisy, but it didn't bother us in the slightest. I know it could be off putting for some guests though.
From arrival to departure, the staff were helpful, courteous, and competent. The building is a gorgeous, belle epoque palace (almost 100 yrs old, but with all modern conveniences); the restaurants are excellent, the spa is unique, and the location is very convenient for public transportation and tourist attractions.
The signage in English could be more informative, especially in the spa area, where the multiple baths, hot rooms, dressing rooms, etc., present an interesting but sometimes frustrating maze.
Old world charm
Staff was nice
Bathrooms are very dated: shower tub had a yellow stain, toilet and facets are very old, no holder for a shower head, beds are not comfortable at all. Dusty furniture and drapes. Had to be out late as didn't want to go back to a depressing room. One can find a better hotel for $150 per night
1) Location near centre 2) Historic hotel / building 3) Outside facade 4) Old world interior design 5) Gellert baths 6) Restaurant
1) Pokey bedroom 2) Broken down bathroom facilities
Atmosphere fabulous. Hope they don't update! Make use of the Thermal Baths - a unique experience. Breakfast excellent.
Room was rather small and featureless but adequate
It was better even the breakfast this Time and i think that is something that worths..!
Must be renovated all that and that must take some time so needs Patience.
Liked the position, the reception staff, the easy use of the thermal baths. The breakfast was excellent, with one exception.
The room cleaning was a bit slapdash: glasses not cleaned, no new shower gel put out. One morning the breakfast room was overwhelmed by the number of guests (or possibly outsiders). Difficult to get a table, food kept running out, staff could not cope.
I liked the termal baths, the food, coffee shop and the breakfast. The Hotel Gellert is a historic place and I would stay there again. I loved the art deco style that needs to be preserved in the future. A very special place.
The room I stayed at needs to be redecorated.
Building is fantastic!!!. Staff is very good, breakfasts are rich and good. There was 10 hot dishes!!!. In price of stay is included one visit in SPA with old beautiful swimming pool. Wi-Fi operated well.
It is old traditional hotel and some things should be renovated. But it was small problems. All equipments in my room operated well.
