Location, fine staff, bath inside, outside very well, balcony.
Poor Meals ( a wiener schnitzel that was awfull ), some damaged furniture, leaking water, no bath-stop (room 336), not very clean.
Spa facilities, friendly and helpful staff, impressive building and decor, breakfast was amazing
Room was small and cramped, almost no water flow out of the sink, shower was a bit awkward because there was no way to put the shower head on the wall. I didn't spend much time in the room and got a really good price, but if I was going to stay any longer than one night I would upgrade to a better level.
Good location. Easy to access by tram. Facilities were old. But stuffs were nice.
My room didn't have air conditioner. And I couldn't see outside.
Location, hot springs pool.
Cleanliness of breakfast tables.
spa food bar
bedroom needs an upgrade
Staff very welcoming and the spa facilities are the main attraction. Great location, a very easy walk or tram ride to most tourist attractions. Well worth a visit.
Location, communal areas, restaurant, spa & pools,
Dingy rooms old fashioned furniture. Broken chair in room lights not working, hair dryer not working
I enjoyed the view, the quiteness of the room, the breakfast buffet, the spa being so close. Staff was very polite and helpful. Transportation excellent.
It is an old hotel. Needs updating in the bathroom and furniture. In a way it strangely adds to the charm though. Dont go if you expect a modern place.
Very old style hotel - excellent atmosphere. Spa was wonderful.
Very comfortable traditional hotel
We loved the old world charm and the friendly helpful staff. On our last day we had to leave early. The hotel provided us a bag of food that kept us sustained all day on the train. The adjacent spa was an absolute bonus.
Bathroom facilities in the room were a little old and needed care, possibly even better cleaning.
Very Nice staff all of whom were very helpful and polite , incredible location, connection with Spa, overall a very unique experience in an incredible piece of history...beautiful Art Nouveau style...a landmark. The views, the size of room, the food, the convenience..all perfect. This was our second stay. Would stay there again for sure!
The only negative is a general need for updating/refurbishing of the rooms...they are a little "well worn" from many years of use...but for my family this was not a big deal. But probably a big deal for many visitors. The fair rating for cleanliness is more related to this need for refurbishing than actual cleanliness...
The swimming pools are just beautiful
No coffee in coffee machines
Human service quality.
No climatization, old and damaged appliances and furnitutes.
The location is very nice, with direct access to the historical thermal baths. Breakfast is rich and of good quality.
The room and the bathroom have old furniture and need some maintenance. From a 4-star hotel I expected something more.
This is a fantastic hotel with brilliant staff backed by amazing management. Thank you all there. Köszönöm. I stayed were Richard stayed but slept on the floor as I didn't want to share a bed with him. TLC
The old works charm with a modern day twist . Great location and views if the Danube . The baths were easy to access from the hotel
Spa, varied breakfast buffet, staff very friendly
Mattresses too hard and poor quality, bathroom not suitable for a 4* hotel
Great location just at liberty bridge Great Spa attached to hotel with many little spa facilities hidden in huge building to discover
Hotel bar is a bit small
- fabulous location - beautiful views over the Danube - excellent thermal baths onsite - friendly staff in the spa who were willing to go the extra mile
- the hotel must have been magnificent in its heyday, but right now needs some serious updating and interior changes - the value for money for a single traveller is ok...but the single traveller rooms are even more desperately in need of an update then the normal rooms Understand that there was nothing unpleasant about this hotel - I just would have liked to have a non-stained carpe and a less creaky bed for example. I grew accustomed to it - the Gellert is old school and perhaps that is part of its charm?
Thermal baths Lobby Passageways Friendliness and accommodating attitude of staff bathroom bed
window could be better insulated from tram noise would have liked a kettle and supply of tea in room
great location, that's it
bed was small, i slept there for 3 night and on two nights there was a lot of noise.
Everything about the Gillert Hotel is wonderful, we love location, food decoration old style but beautiful. Staff are very nice especially the younger staff.. Some of the older staff members while very polite cannot smile or be friendly. Its the old style Hungarian athmosphere coming through. Its a pity they should make an effort to change with the times, 2014. We love all of them though. This was our 5th visit.
There was just one thing we were unhappy about. We had dinner in the hotel. There was a group playing in Dining room, Lovely trad music. The only problem they came around to tables playing music and asking for money and were very intimadating. That should not happen to the Guests of a 4 star hotel in the comfort of their own hotel. That is a pity, leaves the Hotel down
We were happy with the staff (who were friendly and helpful), cleanliness, and condition of most of the interior of the hotel. Breakfasts were particularly good and we thoroughly enjoyed the spa area. My 'Yes' reply to recommending the hotel is cautious and based on them being put in a better room than we were. We even wondered if foreign guests were given the better rooms.
Being on the front with river views was good except for the late night and early morning noise of the trams. This would have been reduced had the external blind on the window worked. The shower head in our room would not stay in place so we had to hold it to take a shower. This could easily be fixed. The bowl of the toilet was badly stained and again this could easily be fixed. The wall lights in the bathroom were very flimsy and cheap. This may seem a minor thing but it let the standard down. The room could benefit from a touch of paint here and there. I will add that my daughter and partner from UK, stayed two doors down and had a much better room and their blind worked!
