Rooms are dated and not very soundisolated, but it was not too bad. All
rooms face the small road which has a tram line (currently under
construction - luckily work did not start early in the day). No
teamaking facilities (but a minibar in the room and a tea/coffee
machine in the lobby area), but not too bad as there are lots of
restaurants and coffeeshops nearby. Double room - two single beds placed
side by side, the wooden frames make a considerable gap.
There were a few things which could be improved. One of the rooms we had strongly smelled of smoke, and nothing was done by the cleaners to remove it although we asked for it. The hotel should do more to prevent guests from smoking in the rooms, for instance smoke detectors could be fitted. Apparently, rooms are cleaned only if one leaves the key at reception, but we were not told this at check-in and missed out on room services. When asking for additional towels for the pool, they had run out of towels one day, another day we were given towels with holes - I think, the hotel could do better than this.
This is a cozy budget hotel with its very own flair. Good price if you
only stay a few days in Budapest and want a place to rest (and swim),
but definitely not if you look for quietness and luxury. Rooms, en-suite
shower room and lobby/breakfast area all a bit small although bit
larger and comfortable than some other budget hotels at this price range
elsewhere. A/c was included in price and worked okay. What is really
remarkable is the free access to the outdoor swimming pool (opening
hours 6am-6:30pm, 25m and 50m, 6 and 10 lanes, respectively). There is
also a small children pool. Note that it is a public pool, sometimes you
may have to share lanes. Airport shuttle at reasonable price and with
discount options (check with hotel). Nice variety of drinks and food in
the breakfast buffet, clearly above expectation for this hotel category.
The choices of bread were great and it was very fresh! Location was
great, very close to Margit bridge (Margit hid) and island, fantastic
views of the river and town, especially in the evening. 3-Minute walk to
stop for bus 9, 5 minutes walk to stop for trams 4 and 6. 30 minute walk
to town centre, Close by there are many restaurants and shops, thermal
baths - it's a really nice area. Would be happy to stay here again.
