“Excellent hotel in the very center of Eger. We were 100% satisfied with everything. The dinner in the hotel restaurant was very tasty and surprisingly cheap.”

The Hotel Senator Ház in Eger can be found in a delightful 18th-century town house, situated on the historic main square (Dobó tér) of Eger, a few yards from the castle ramparts. Enjoy the friendly family atmosphere and the perfect central location, which is an ideal starting point for your outings into the town and the surrounding area. Sample traditional Hungarian cuisine, or chose from a wide range of international gourmet dishes. The Café offers a wide choice of ice cream, fruit plates, homemade desserts, cake, and a wide variety of coffee and tea. Throughout the year many special occasions provide the opportunity to organize culinary events at the Senator Ház, like the Carnival Wine Tasting (in February), Easter Ham Parade, May Asparagus Days, Summer Salad Festival, Grape Harvest and Márton Day Feasts. A traditional Advent Tent is raised at end the year where the hotel makes their own mulled wine, Christmas punch, and various traditional foods. We were in the Pension, NOT the main hotel. The suite was new, very well designed and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was particularly roomy and modern. The restaurant is superb. The Dobo Ter location is enchanting. The gomba (mushroom) soup, veal paprikas, and GIANT turkey schnitzel are favorites. The service is excellent as well. The owner/senior manager of the Senator can be a bit overbearing in his manner, at times. He runs a superb establishment though, so he has a lot of stress.

The owner is a very nice and helpful person; the location is the best one can desire in Eger; the hotel is very lively but, at the same time, the room I had was quiet; reception, hall, breakfast room are very cosy and nice. The buffet breakfast is standard, but ok. The tv set in my room was from the early 80s; perhaps it's time to buy new TVs..

Nestled at the very edge of the main square of Eger and at the base of the castle, with the Tatra Mountains near, this pleasant hotel provides a nice atmosphere and change from Budapest. Their restaurant is probably the best place to eat in town.

Everything was great! Very nice, authentic & cozy small hotel in the perfect location. The food in the restaurant was very good and decent priced, service both in the restaurant and hotel also was great. I really enjoyed staying there. Sound isolation in the rooms is quite poor, so can be a problem, if outside is noisy or you have noisy neighbours. I asked for a double bed room, but got twin. (but none of these 2 things disturbed me)

A wonderful location directly below the castle in the cobbled old part of this lovely town. The hotel is an old inn, and its reception area and landing are wonderfully stuffed with antiques, art nouveau knick knacks and old furniture. The rooms, however, are modern and a good size. This hotel has real character. No lift, though we were given help with luggage. The hotel is entirely surrounded by restaurants and bars, so not great if you go to bed early (though in general it was quiet by about 11.30pm). Our room was very hot at night, even on the cooler days, and air conditioning was via a vented cooling unit which didn't work consistenly, and was a bit noisy. Hotel is difficult to find/access, as it is in the middle of the old city, and most of the approaches are pedestrianised. However, in general these were simply the price you paid for the location and character of this hotel.

A comfortable and pleasant hotel in a surprisingly quiet location overlooking a small bijou shopping square. Within very easy reach of the main square of the town, and all its sights. The hotel is difficult to find, and we drove round the city three times before spotting it, or rather its underground car park. Once we had parked, we still had trouble finding our way to the front of the hotel, which overlooks a pedestrianised courtyard. The hotel is actually on the first floor of a building, and has no lift access, so there are quite a few stairs to manage, although we were offered help with our luggage.

Very interesting collection of antiques and collectables....ambience was pleasant and very peaceful for rest. Lacking tourist information, especially in English, which is strange as English is the common language, so I found this not very helpful. Food at restaurant attached was good and wide selection of local dishes...wines offered were also broad and varied. Staff were not over friendly but offered basic hospitality. Shower was okay but hand-held appliance was broken. difficult to get the car close to the hotel to unload baggage. Also difficult to find the way to the hotel, but understandable as it is the "old town", however a little more ease of unloading would make arrival more comfortable.

The hotel perfect location in the centre of Eger, with it's own parking lot. The staff is just perfect, you have the impression that you are staying in a family run hotel. The building is marvellous - also the interior and the furniture perfectly fits the hotel dating back to the early 1700s.
