We had an amazing stay at Alamanda B&B! Frans, the Dutch owner, and his staff go out of their way to make you feel at home and make your stay here unforgettable! The tours to all the highlights in the surroundings are organized directly from Alamanda, which is extremely convenient! The cottages in the middle of the ricefields are absolutely idyllic and the main house is just very comfortable. We stayed in the room on the 1st floor with the balcony, it was great! The very complete breakfast, the outdoor bathrooms, the scenery amidst the rice fields, the best sate ayam of Indonesia with the best peanut sauce ever, the comfy couches... I can go on for a while, but you should just stay here and experience yourself! Keep up the good work, Frans! We would love to stay longer and are wishing to go back here one day... :)

    Everything was great!

The cottages were neat and pleasant environment.

It was a nuisance with Frank, the owner. I requested for a seperate vehicle for my family for which he made a big fuss. Trust me the way he acted and the scene he caused totally made our trip very unpleasant. He should be manner full to respect other peoples request. My parents were shocked at the he shouted at us when requested for a seperate vehicle. Since the place is a bit far from the city centre it is quite hectic to get around.

The B&B was extremely cozy, we felt literally at home there. Frans, a Dutchman living in Indonesia for more than 18 years, and his people made great efforts to make our stay comfortable and they definitely succeeded. It's located outside the city, which makes it to be quiet and relaxing, and it's surrounded by rice fields, very authentic! Being far from the center was no problem because they drove us there when necessary, showed us Yogjakarta and picked us up afterwards. We also arranged a visit to Borobudur and Prambanan with them, totally worth it. Frans prepared breakfast and even lunch for us every day and explained us many things about the real Indonesia, what you don't get to perceive as a tourist.

It's really impossible to say something negative about this place, we're just sorry we stayed only two days and not longer.

The sightseeing trips were well planned. The drivers were nice and courteous and we had pleasant trips.

The owner of the B&B (frans) is rude. The AC wasn't working and it was terribly hot in the villa. When we complained about the problem, he walked into our room without knocking and started screaming. Told us it will be fixed next morning. When we checked again next morning, he screamed at us again and asked us to leave!!! The paddy field is a sham not pretty at all. Too many insects inside and outside the property. Wouldn't recommend any one to stay here. We went to the Hyatt for the second night and totally loved the stay there. Hyatt is a beautiful resort with nice swimming pools and landscaping. Price is not very different.

Our experience at Alamanda was very pleasant and efficient. This bed and breakfast allows for a more relaxed and slightly rural experience, while still being quite close to the city. We appreciated that Alamanda employed locals and that it was an artsy space where most of the art is made by Ritchie, a staff member, and potentially for sale. Logistically, everything was smooth. Alamanda provided on-time airport pick-up and drop-off, delicious food as requested, and rides/tour guides for whatever we wanted to see (thanks Anton and Joe!). It is very well situated to accommodate tourists wishing to see the city, a small typical village, and Borobudur and Prambanan temples. Frans, the owner, and all his staff were very friendly and fun to chat with and everyone spoke English well. The room was pleasant and relaxing, and we especially liked the open-air (but still private) bathroom and the porch looking over the rice field (be sure to look for fireflies at night!). Highly recommended!

Although we enjoyed Frans' enthusiasm and were grateful for all the time he took to share his experience of the area, he may occasionally be too enthusiastic for some tastes.

This was an amazing experience for us. The place itself is beautiful in the middle of a rice field. The rooms are very well decorated and the outdoor showers very refreshing. We enjoyed the food and the tours offered. Many thanks to Mr. Frans and the team for making us feel like at home!

The Alamanda is more than just a B and B. It runs a range of tours to near, and not so near, sights as well as providing for the other transport needs of guests. Frans and his team will also advise on things to do, places to see and restaurants to eat in. They will cook evening meals as well if you choose to eat in. Communal breakfasts and shared tours mean that you get to meet other guests from around the world.

The location is both a strength and a weakness. The upside is that you live and sleep in bungalows and joglos located in the paddy fields at the edge of town and have an amazing view of Merapi. On the other hand, you will need to drive to get to most Yogyakarta sights.

nicely located among the rice fields. Close to an interesting village The manager is efficient and willing to help

we do not recommend the room over the reception hall. It is noisy specially between 3:30 am and 4 am when guests depart for sunrise tours. The door is a glass door so light gets into the room. There is no restaurant for dinner within walking distance.

Really friendly owner and staff. Daytrips can be arranged to go to the surrounding temples at sunrise(borobodur and prambanan). Owner likes to show you the Indonesian lifestyle. You can relax between the rice fields with a fresh drink in front of the villa.

Staying at this hotel was the best decision I have ever made! They really know what customers want and they provided me with superb service! The accomodation itself was really cozy also. The hotel's location is bit far from the city but because they provide a lift to anyplace you want to travel, I don't think it will be a problem. I will definitely go to this place again if I need to go to Yogya. Thank you Frans, Anton, and Sisu!

This B&B is located just outside of Yogyakarta and is great place to explore the city and its spectacular surroundings. We stayed at one of the bungalows overlooking the ricefields, which was a very nice and secluded experience. However it was the personlized and even "family like" service by Frans and his team we enjoyed most. From organizing tours that matched our time schedule and interests, getting "surprise" meals (without ordering!) in your bungalow, or simply small gestures like a set of batteries I needed for my camera without any additional charges. Alamanda B&B is a relaxing yet well organized place, with a dedicated team that enjoyes thinking along with you. Highly recommended!

Some more / better light in the bungalow.

Fran's and his staff were absolutely fantastic and couldnt do enough for you. He made our time in Yogyokarta very easy to plan and as our time in SE Asia is coming to an end, Fran's place stands out as our favourite. He takes pride in ensuring that every customer makes the most out of there time in this city. Extremely cheap prices within the hotel eg £2.50 for a scooter for the day. Beautiful accom in the middle of the rice fields makes you soake the real Indonesia up from your door step. Stay here if you want to make the most of your time in this great city.

We were sad to leave the Alamanda, it was like saying goodbye to old friends. Nothing was too much trouble for Fran and his staff, they did everything possible to ensure we made the most of our first time in Yogyakarta. Loved this place and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet retreat.

The staff is very friendly and full of great ideas to tour the region. We also loved the food. Just perfect ! As we were on honeymoon, I asked for the room to be decorated on arrival and they tastefully put on beautiful flowers. They truly care for their guests, the BEST B&B I have ever stayed at !

    Nothing. It was just perfect.

The view was great. The staff is friendly and the boss is friendly too. Breakfast was good. They woke up really early to prepare breakfast for our sunrise tour to borobudur. Staying here was really a good experience for me enjoying the padi field view when I wake up in the morning was really refreshing something that can't be seen in Singapore. I would highly recommend alamanda bed & breakfast to my friends and family. Definitely will comeback again.

The kindness & friendliness of the staffs that made us feel very welcoming. The charges are very reasonable. The staffs were very helpful in every way and made sure we got what we asked for. We were very well taken care of!

My room was too close to the reception & the kitchen. It felt like I wasn't getting enough privacy. The noise of the early guests and the ringing of the phone caused me to wake up a few times at night.
