Setting the Standard
Bali’s oldest beach resort retains its reputation as a glamorous alternative to nearby Kuta. The coastline of Sanur has a long stretch of white sand lined with restaurants and bars. It is tailor made for chic clientele or families wanting to relax in an exclusive resort or villa without the need to party into the wee hours.
Sanur is also a popular day trip destination for tourists staying in Kuta looking to do some water sports. There are many companies offering diving along its submerged outer reef, jet skiing on top of its blue waters or paragliding in the cool breezes above this ocean paradise.
The shoreline features a cycle path that is also perfect for walking and jogging. At its very northern tip is the ferry terminal that offers boat trips to Nusa Lembongan, a small island off the southeast coast of Bali that is famous for its laid-back atmosphere.
Sanur has its fair share of markets providing an impressive range of artistic handicrafts such as wood carvings and batik paintings. Best of these are the Sindhu Market and the daytime beachfront market.
Sanur is the closest beach to the island’s capital, Denpasar, with its many temples and museums. Booking.com has a range of hotels along Sanur Beach or close to Ngurah International Airport, also known as Denpasar International Airport.

It's a kid friendly, local beach with a lot of places to buy snacks, drinks or even sit down for a meal. There were a lot of dive shops and surf shops along the beach to help you on your adventure as well.

Sanur offers the best bits of Bali without the crowds. The beach is bathed in the morning sun and there are plenty of restaurants along the main road and down side streets and beachfront boardwalk. There are gems of places of find amongst the hotels and back roads. You can get to other places such as Ubud easily from here if you wanted a day trip. Sanur is a bustling tourist area. The beach itself is not visible from the roadside and one has to walk down to the beach either along some narrow street leading down to the beach or a walkway between the hotels that line the beach. Traffic is horrendous and noisy on the main street but this street is lined up with restaurants and bars so no lack of choice for eating and drinking. Overall a 3-4 day stay would suffice here unless one takes daily organised tours out of Sanur. There are tons of things to do and see but all require transportation.

Price gouging prevalent- many tourists, and of course the temptation is there to overcharge. We found huge variations in the price of common items, including at the same shop on consecutive days. Lots of tourists trying to thread their way along the narrow pavements avoiding heavy traffic. A good range of restaurants and bars- but sadly almost all have been forced to add a strongly western orientation to their menus. In general, for those hooked on burgers ("American cuisine"), Indonesia is not going to be the best place to holiday! You will also find places spcialising in "Mexican", "Italian", "Japanese" and other exotics... Or for those more ready to embrace Indonesia, it is still possible to find at least a limited range of great Indonesian dishes...

Is quieter than Kuta and Seminyak - great for families and the more mature. Plenty of restaurants, cafes, entertainment etc. Great walk all along the beach front with plenty of shops or locals selling goods. It's not modern and facilities are a little dated....but if you want a place that is welcoming( staff are awesome) and feels like you belong from day one, then book here. I'm a little biased...I've been here 6x times ( been coming to Bali for 40 years, so have been all over the island)

The location still provides very quiet experience because it is still far enough that you wont be hearing any loud clubbing noise from the beach club. Parking is great if you are bringing a car. The Gym equipment was all brand new.
