Location and bathroom. very cozy and quiet. Secluded courtyard. Value for money ok.
Wifi very poor only available when you sit near the office. If you are reliant on wifi for your travels not recommended.
Our stay at Barong Resort & Spa was wonderful. It has a great location on the main street of Ubud with a short walk to the monkey forest and many great restaurants. Rooms were very generous, clean and beds quite comfortable. Pool was beautiful and the grounds very well kept it feels like your in your own private jungle. Our room had a beautiful private courtyard where you could have your breakfast and the hotel even provided mosquito repellent coils so we could enjoy the courtyard at night. All the staff were very friendly and so helpful with attending to our every need. Wifi was also excellent and breakfast very nice. We look forward to coming back to Barong next time we visit Ubud!
Staff, breakfast in room
Location and privacy of room
TV has no movie chanels
The staff were friendly, location was great (short walk from Monkey forest), the hotel was overbooked, so we were upgraded to a very nice bungalow, bathrooms were enormous and the bed was very comfy. Breakfast was good and so was wifi access
Mosquito net definitely needed, but that is not something the hotel can help. Also, traveling with my mother who is getting on in age, there are entirely too many unnecessary staircases in the hotel. Other than that, lovely hotel.
This is a lovely, quiet, intimate boutique hotel in a great location of Ubud. The rooms all seem to have private garden patios, as ours did. The rooms themselves are very comfortable with plenty of storage space and a very large, comfy bed. The only thing lacking might be a table and chair for using a computer. Wifi service was out the first day; when we were able to connect, the speed was good. The food is excellent, with plenty of vegetarian options. The staff and service are superb. They were prepared with directions or recommendations when needed. They customized the cleaning of the room for us. We also asked them to arrange a driver for a day and he was fantastic, knew everywhere we wanted to go, all the way to Nusa Dua. In addition, after we had left for Padang Bai we phoned to see if we could use the same driver for another excursion. He was busy but the hotel staff was kind enough to try and make these arrangements even after we were gone. The pool is also set in the garden and very enjoyable. To the rear of the property, there is a lovely spa area, but we did not use it. The location is within easy walking distance of everything Ubud has to offer. Highly recommend.
Ubud is set amid rice fields and near the monkey forest, though very urbanized otherwise, so you have plenty of mosquitoes. Not unique to this hotel, but one needs to take precautions.
Very good value for money. Very much recommended.
Breakfast could have a bit more variety. Other than that nothing.
the bungalow was big with sitting area in the garden and very private; staff cleaned-up room twicly - in the morning & evening; fresh fruits and snacks in the room for free; a/c and fun.
if you don't like geckos and other insects - it would be a problem for you to stay here. in our room lived gecko who screamed at night and in the mornings; also i've found various insects in bed, so i was a little bit freaked up when i slept; bed was very unconfortable and room was dark, very poorly lighted.
Peaceful haven among a tropical garden ... We had a bungalow with walled private terrace where we had a lovely breakfast served in the morning. Lots of little added touches which make a difference ( spookiest and treats each day left in room, fruit bowl, insence sticks etc). Staff helpful and friendly greeted with hot cloths and drink on arrival nice.
Nothing really... Pool not as warm as some but I went in and I'm a real softie.
The location was great especially for a solo traveller. Nice restaurants and bars near by but location is still very quiet. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the room was kept clean, the lights turned on for my return at night and complimentary food and drinks in the room. For the price I thought it was worth it - I was only going to stay 3 nights but extended my stay and made it my base to travel to other areas of Bali.
Located in the center of busy Ubud but it surprisingly silent. Bed was so comfy that it was really hard to wake up :) Clean and spacious rooms. Super breakfast!
Comparing prices in the city spa in the hotel, was very expensive.
Location on Monkey Forest Road Limited number of villas
Dark in the rooms not enough lighting
Great atmosphere Friendly Staff Huge Breakfast Super Fast WiFi
Could have done with a comfy daybed on the balcony to chill on
In its best days, which seem a fair while ago, this hotel could have been a nice little inn however not the resort and the price it charged for the room and ground they provided to us. The entire hotel, rooms and common grounds are severely outdated and neglected. Room images and information are deliberately misleading (rooms are half the size of advertised, they included the poorly maintained 'private' garden that can't be locked from outside) and services are of the worst I encountered with the reception not showing the least of interests in their shortcomings or to improve their services for future guests. Furthermore while they promised to stop renovations in the room adjacent to ours they still continued which turned a poor experience into a terrible one. We paid over 100 US$ per night for this room while in its best days it could have been worth 50-60$ at most. In its current state and the fact they are renovating half of their rooms I would not recommend it to anyone. There are far better options here in Ubud and I can heartily recommend the Sri Ratih Cottages at the same price with a terrific service in high contrast with this neglected inn. - Room smelt mouldy upon entry - Quality of mosquito nets are hostel style - Floor tiles are old with dirty spots on all sides near the walls that can't be cleaned with a quick mop and leave a dirty feel. - Wooden furniture are of the cheapest kind and turned moldy on several spots. - Rooms are listed 69m2 on booking.com however the room and bathroom are only half that size at best. They included the garden space in front which looks very poor and not taken care of at all. There is no lock on the door to the 'private garden' so anyone can enter it without us being there.
We had a wonderful stay and the staff were also very friendly and helpful. Main Pool was lovely and our room was behind it which made it very easy for me to keep a eye on the kids. Thanks Barong Resort for a memorable stay.
Private and Big Bathroom. Centre of Ubud.
We can not connect to WiFi even we correct the password. Heard music from pub around the hotel.
Great hotel with more value for money than expected, especially on monkey forest rd. would recommend it to anyone!
Nothing, it was an excellent stay
Tucked away on the hustle and bustle of Monkey Forest Road, the Barong Resort and Spa is an excellent choice to stay in Ubud. The large open air lobby with surrounding ponds has a quaint little dining area where we enjoyed breakfast every morning. They offer a good variety at breakfast, ranging from Indonesian to eggs cooked any style. Our room was incredible, we stayed in Room 2, which was the top floor of a villa. A big 4 post bed with a comfortable oversized king mattress, ample lighting, and an amazing air con unit kept the room cool. Our bathroom was just as nice, with plenty of shelves for our clothes, a big vanity, and a nice garden tub. Wifi worked well. The staff were excellent, the location was great, highly recommended.
The localization was great in the heart of the city but hotel need definitely the renovation and fixes. The price did not go with the comfort. The cleaning service was perfect each mornigs provided fresh fruits and at the evenings cakes or peanuts. My room was rather dark and has lots of ants.
The old school toilet needs a renovation, shower hunger and curtain were demaged, the tailed bathtub looked odd and not welcoming you to get the bath. My room was rather dark and has lots of ants.
great location for ubud. a short walk to lovely restaurants "pica" was our favourite. staff friendly and helpful. would definitely visit again.
nothing comes to mind.
friendly staff, cleanliness, comfortable room, wifi was excellent, included breakfast was great
didn't like that we where overlooking the private pool of the villa below us
This hotel is a great location situated between the monkey forest and Ubud market. Although it is right in the centre, it is very peaceful with a lovely pool. The rooms are generous in size with a big bathroom. The hotel also includes 2 optional trips in the price, I can highly recommend the morning trek to the rice paddy fields! Staff were excellent, couldn't do enough for you.
My only criticisms would be detailed cleanliness in the room ie behind furniture etc, and the shower head didn't stay up so had to hold it by hand which was a bit frustrating.
Quaint, villas were very private. Located in the centre of everything yet very quiet.
Bedroom was nice, big and had a beautiful bath tab. Staff was constantly cleaning it well. Food in the hotel was nice. Close to everything in Ubud, walking distance to Ubud market and few restaurants around it.
Bad smell around pool area but we used it anyway.
Location, pool, clean rooms, very nice bed, breakfast, parking & staff were great.
WIFI didn't work on one side of the room. Curtains let light in to bedroom.
