The hotels atmosphere is really great. The rooms are Balinese style houses and the garden is like a botanical garden. I had a room at the top floor and enjoyed every day of the sunrise and sunset. And all the birds and butterflies. The pool is nice. And you can have your dinner at your balcony. The staff is very friendly.
The rooms down seemed to be too humid during the wet season as I hear from people who stay there. The dinner was really good, only a bit limited in choices if you are vegetarian. But maybe they are going to add up some more vegetarian dishes!
Ketut and his family have really put their soul into this property and we're amazing is assisting us with anything we may have inquired about. Don't leave without trying their traditional Balinese dinner!
Gorgeous grounds with large rooms overlooking a steep cliff with a river at the bottom of it. Very friendly and helpful staff/family.
Description says "Monkey Forest is within 700 meters" - this should read "Monkey Forest ROAD" as the actual Monkey Forest is 2.4km away and a much longer walk than anticipated. Room cleaning didn't happen until quite late in the day.
Old worldly traditional beautiful surroundings Staff very friendly and available
Room a little small Light for reading is dim
The location is great and it's a really interesting place to stay that introduces you straight to Unud's culture
It's really hard to think of anything.
My advice would be to completely avoid Ketuts Place at all costs! The set up is rather strange with it being the family home as well as a guesthouse. From the moment you enter you are made to feel like an intruder and there is a feeling of annoyance that you are interrupting their evening to check in. The check in process was so unfriendly and really rushed. No welcome drink was offered or even any information about breakfast, wifi or anything else. Nobody offered to help with my bags and it was maybe one of the worst check ins I've ever experienced. We were given a room situated quite a few floors down some steep slippery exterior steps that actually felt quite dangerous as they were covered in moss! When I was shown to my room the door was wide open and filled with Mosquitos and to my horror there was a huge dog lying asleep in the corner of the room. I really felt this was completely unacceptable and when I complained i was made to feel really unreasonable! The room was also very grubby with the kind of bathroom that you wouldn't want to step in without flip flops and the bed was beyond uncomfortable! They say the provide water but the water provided was hardly enough to brush your teeth with! The bottles were tiny. Also we wanted a twin room and we got the very uncomfortable double bed and then a child's single! Breakfast was slightly confusing as it wasn't explained to me at check it! When we finally got it, it was so disgusting!! How they could made great fruit in Bali taste bad is quite an achievement. The fruit was either rotten or not ripe. It was at that moment we decide to cut our 6 night stay down to just that one and get away as fast as possible! Ketut himself was a really unpleasant man and I think he really added to the bad vibe of the place. He massively lacked any kind of customer service skills and there was something untrustworthy about him. We were honestly so glad to escape and really couldn't get away fast enough.
Fantastic place, good location, friendly and helpful staff, wonderful food and just a wonderful over all local experience! A must go to place.
Wifi signal is a little bad but not important when in such a great place :D
The natural beauty of the garden and the temple inside
the rooms are extremly old and it seems they have never been updated
The place is located well within Ubud to walk to anywhere in the centre of town. I walked to the yoga barn and the monkey forest which took around 25 minutes through the town. The hotel pool area is also lovely to sit around and it is above the river which you can hear rushing below.
My room was next to a staff bathroom which was noisy at times, but nothing I couldn't put up with.
The view of the river and the staff were excellent - our room had a fantastic veranda that we drank and ate on. We would stay again in a heartbeat. Only a short 5 minute walk to the main street. It was quiet. The food was good. This accommodation provides an authentic Indonesian experience.
The air conditioner I think could be larger for the room.
I LOVED Ketut's place. It seemed like a wonderful escape whilst still being in the heart of Ubud; the family running the place could not have been more wonderful, and it was just a beautiful place. I felt like I was staying in a temple due to the great architecture. I really recommend it! Thank you! Silvie
There is a clean and good size swimming pool. The breakfeast was simple but good.
I'm really afraid of geckos, and there are so many there. It is a problem of the city, not of the ketut's place but is good to know that. Ps. They didn't appeared into of the room, only on the balcony.
If you want to feel the real Bali, book a room in this family led hotel. Especially the rooms located at the ravine above the river with an uz disturbed jungle view are awesome - there is only one room on each floor with large open terrace, rooms are furnished with traditional Bali furniture and feature floor-to-ceiling windows for lovely jungle view. There is no TV in the rooms which was a big plus for me, I could really meho beeing completely relaxed. I recommend to book also the traditional Balinese massage with very low prices (30 minutes advance notice at the reception is enough). The owner is a member of a folkloric dance group in Ubud and can suggest interresting performance for each evening. I will definitely come back.
The staff were very friendly. ~300k for a taxi for the day. Drinks and food were really good. Pool was kept clean and maintained. Very easy to rack up a bigger bill however, they charge when you check out. Organised a massage with them, was prompt and good.
Too easy to rack up your bill. Have a few drinks with dinner, then a few more. But mostly our fault.
This was truly a haven from the hustle and bustle in Ubud. The staff were charming and accommodating. The compound was absolutely beautiful.we were able to arrange everything needed through Ketut.
Those who prefer to be right in the center of things, may find it a bit of a walk but it's location is part of its charm.
I loved the garden and the architecture. Very pretty. I also found Ketut and his family very helpful and accommodating. They were wonderful hosts.
I didn't like that they kept pet squirrels in a cage. It was distressing to see them so agitated and sad.
Well what can I say about this home stay wow wish I owned a house like that. We stayed in a deluxe room at the back of the property over looking the creek. The room was huge had our own balcony. If you want modern this place is not for you no TV no phone. The wifi is only meant to be in public areas but you can get it in your room but sometimes it is weak. The breakfast is simple but nice the omelette was awesome and you have to try the banana pancake.
Geat breakfast, lot of fresh fruit. Nice garden and pool, very relaxing.
We stayed 3 nights and it would be nice to get new towels beacuse we used them for the pool as well. I found it bit too far from the centre.
Staff were very friendly and made huge efforts to ensure I was comfortable and happy. So glad to stay somewhere with a pool, wonderful with the sticky humid climate. The room was airy and clean and comfortable and I had my own bathroom and balcony overlooking the pool and leafy greenery. The bill was itemised and the everything explained carefully when I paid on leaving. Definitely I would stay there again and recommend the place to everyone.
In Balinese culture, one must bargain for everything, so it was difficult for me to know how much a taxi etc should cost. I booked trips outside. If the taxi fee had been a good price at the beginning of my stay instead of later when they knew me, I would have booked tours through Ketuts Place.
nice balinese rooms with all the comfort you need, clean, warm water, etc.. person is helpfull and friendly.
Swimming pool and available chairs ( 4 ) around the pool is not enough for the many rooms they have. It's a 10 to 15 minute downhill walk to the royal palace, but if you really want to visit ubud rent a motorbike so you can visit the centre and the beautifull surroundings. My next stop in ubud will be at ketuts for shure
Ketut's place was a beautiful little oasis tucked away in a quiet but very convenient location. The staff were super friendly and as it is run by a family, it has a personal feel, which was unique and memorable.
The familiy isvery friendly and helpful. Everything isbeautiful, the place, the pool, the garden. And you can chose your breakfast every day and it's served in your room or in the pool side. Very comfortable. You can't wish for more!
I liked especially the nice garden and its pool, nicely decorated, the sound of the nearby river, the friendly family and staff, allowing me to see a bit of the everyday life of a Balinese family e.g. offerings and ceremonies going on. Very personal as a homestay but with the luxury of a hotel - just perfect!! It is at a 10 min walk distance from Ubud center, so the perfect place to have a quiet place but all opportunities of Ubud cultural events nearby (taxi or bike also possible for sure). Don't miss the Kecak dance of Ketut in the temple on Thur and Sun! Hope you have as much fun and joy there as I had!!
--- cannot remember anything I did not like!! ---
It's a relaxing place, close to centre and realy stylish and nice.
We hoped to feel more like at "home" but in the end it was just nice place to live (what in some this category pleaces in Bali we felt).
To witness typical Balinese household, architecture and even life on a day to day basis, its all there; typical Balinese cottages are very clean, the staff very deligent in keeping the whole compound sparkling clean; right in the heart of Ubud with peaceful surroundings, the silence kept us in a relaxed mood; the road right up front is very convenient but who would ever imagine one has a forest view as well right at the back...
