눉Due to my job and hobbies, I travel a lot: from very good resorts and hotels to low end hostels all around the globe and I believe I know what to expect:
Even though La Joya was a beautiful place, I'd not recommend it for several reasons, some just being small details, some being serious:
a) I found a huge black cockroach inside my coffee pot in the breakfast! This never happen to me anywhere in my whole life. When I mentioned that to the waitresses, I got no single apology. I mentioned that to the manager as well, but nothing more than a "sorry" came from her.
b) The staff is professional but extremely arrogant and unfriendly, specially those from the massage team. I didn't feel welcomed at all. Reasons: customers have welcome massage for 15 minutes included. We arrived to the massage room and got offered an extension of it (with some cost). We refused it, which made the staff unhappy, obviously, and we had a very bad massage of only 10 minutes. The staff in the restaurant area were not paying the due attention to the customers as we all sometimes had to repeat things several times and wait for long periods of time. And the were as many waitresses as customers.
c) very very expensive for indonesia. The restaurant had prices without tax or service included which adds 21% to the already expensive prices.
d) Not the hotel's problem but very uncomfortable: there is a farm just behind the bungalows. This means the roosters start cock-a'doodle-doo at 4am. There are also many dogs in the farm and around: one night they all (10+) started barking at the same time from 11pm till 4am, right when the roosters woke up. I didn't well any of the nights there (3) even when I was using earplugs.
e) The bungalows have very nice large windows all around it. Ok. But there is no way to tell the staff not to enter the room for cleaning ("do not disturb" Tag?).
눇The bungalows are incredibly beautiful and the whole resort is very very nice: nice infinity pool, nice garden.
