A cozy retreat awaits guests at Pajar House Ubud, an 8-minute drive from downtown Ubud. Landscaped gardens decorate the entire property, which blends Balinese-style architecture with modern interiors....

A great place -like staying in a palace. Wonderful room, staff, good breakfast.
The location is a bit of a walk from town (about 10 mins), but the pay-off is that your are in a magical place in the middle of rice paddies, yet still in town.
The staff is very friendy and we received a warm welcome and enjoyed our stay at Nick´s Hidden Cottages. The whole place is just a 10-minute walk from the centre of Ubud and offers a haven of tranquility.
The plumbing needs a thorough makeover, some of the bathrooms are a bit borderline. The toilet flush kept leaking during our entire stay and the hot water tap fell off while giving a bath to our one year old baby at 9pm and the staff only managed to get a plumber the next morning so the water kept running all night - a bit ironic as the hotel claims to be environment friendly. Apart from that, the staff acted professionally and offered us a new room for the night. Also, the rooms are rather simple but spacious, which we appreciated.
The location, the outisde appearance, it is a magical place at first sight, but..
The staff are very friendly, in a superficial way, in the end they offer little help in terms of recommendations, they always try to push for the chain of Nick's organised tours and such. The price of the laundry service was outrageous, the butter was rancid at breakfast two days running, the pool was slightly dirty if you rubbed against the wall, we had several cockroaches in the bathroom, and worst of all, we were completely plagued by mosquitoes who had free access to the room (doors and windows have gaps) and seemed to find a way into the mosquito net. Wifi did not reach our first room well so we were eventually moved to another one. Given the price, all these attributes made the stay disappointing.
We stayed 19 nights at Nick's. To take to an acount thet it is rated as a 2 stars hotel, you got a little bit more than that but you paid according to the stars figure. Hotel staff was really kind and friendly. Services, such as laundry worked perfectly. The breakfast was OK but every morning the same (three alternatives). Restaurant offered a fair choice of dishes to a reasonable price and quality was good. The swimming pool was nice. The architexture of the hotel complex was interesting and plants fitted well to the character of the premises and surrounding nature. In the nights the hotel territory was full of exotic sounds, lizzards, frogs, injects etc. That was great and you felt like being in a jungle. Due to the distance to the nearest road you could not hear the disturbing noice of traffic. Let's hope that the new and massive hotel next to Nick's is not spoiling the special atmosphere.
Our room (and probably the others) demanded a face lifting. Curtains were dirty, WC door didn't close, no hot water for basin, only in shower. Room was big and dark, very poorly furnished lacking space for keeping clothes that you need for a longer stay. They didn't have any extra at the hotel when we asked for. To elderly clients moving is difficult due to the stairs you had to climb to get to the pool (bottom) and reception (top level). The sun furniture by the pool was old and rusty, madrasses worn out and needed a proper wash. For a stay lasting only a few nights these might be minor problems but for a long stay is different.
Like staying in a Balinese temple with lots of atmosphere. Nice balcony with either a view or easy access to pool. Nice breakfast.
There are lots of steps ... fine for me but if you are movement limited it would be difficult
The location is great, staff is so kind and friendly, we loved everything during our stay and highly recommend people to stay there. Breakfast is also really good. Quiet place and clean.
The staff were extremely helpful and polite, beautiful balinese design, excellent banana pancakes breakfast, worth every penny!
they should have mosquito nets, as the electric mosquito repellent didn't keep the mosquitos away
We loved the surrounds of the cottages, the location was perfect and within walking distance to most things, the staff were friendly and helpful and the pricing was good.
Great place, great staff, lovely brekkies, comfy bed, awesome pool (our 4 yr old loved it and mastered his swimming), good value, great location. Stayed here 8 nights and could have happily stayed longer. Not much else to say really. Ashri, Coco, Budi, K.?.. And other staff were all really helpful and welcoming. Ah yes great memories there. Terimah kasih Nicks "Hide-en" as the locals say.
What's not to like?
The gardens are amazingly beautiful it really is a tropical paradise. The staff is very friendly not very accurate but very friendly.
The rooms are not very well equipped you cant really feel at home the room is very empty and cold. No mosquito nets. The curtain in the bathroom looks really bad. Fruit platter @ breakfast is far from ripe otherwise breakfast was really good. We went with the driver from the hotel to our next location and the besakih tempel where we got ripped off a lot. (With the help of our driver as he told us things which are not true) then we went for lunch where we paid 100 000 for the buffet which is quite a lot. When paying, the meal from the driver was on our bill as well so we paid 300 000 for lunch. I dont know why we had to pay as normally the driver gets free food when bringing in tourist. They might have a special deal together which is really disappointing for us. We thought its safer to go by hotel transfer but I dont recommend doing so!
Staff,location,facilities (great pool!). Loved it!
A hidden gem really. The buildings are amazing, not really cottages though. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are a very good size, we had an upstairs room with a balcony.
Mosquito's, but it is in the middle rice fields. Wifi patchy.
I really liked the location
I would prefer more options for breakfast
warm, welcoming & friendly staff- great location, delicious hearty breakfast & free water !
The staff were polite to an endearingly strange extent! The rice fields & ducks out front and the jungle out back made for wonderful setting.
Hotel being built next door (but that should be finished by the end of 2014)
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The architecture of the buildings is beautiful as were the gardens. The pool was big and clean. Our room was spotless and comfortable and the food was excellent. One of the best places I have ever stayed!
Excellent, caring (I had been quite ill) and helpful staff. The welcome was wonderful and the little 'touches' to my room made me feel immediately at home. Good food at a very reasonable price. They supplied me with a driver (Gusti) who was knowledgeable and spoke good English - use him if he is available. The pool was clean and very refreshing.
Not their fault but the building work next door was a little noisy during the day.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was good size. Free shuttle/motorcycle drp off service to Ubud centre.
Confirmed for delux room with 2 twin beds. Arrived to find this not available and given a room with a double bed and a twin mattress was set up on the floor. Online indicated televisions. Wasn't one in the room and told there weren't any available (though there didn't seem to be many other guests). No direct access for vehicles. Had to walk down a path through rice fields. On a quieter street with not many restaurants or stores nearby. Very limited restaurant menus. Construction next door. Not very quiet.
Mystical and warm place, very nice people. Good location and service.
I like this small bali style hotel, all rooms are surrounded by the beautiful greenery and flowers. The room is spacious and simple bali style. No kettle for boiling water, but the staff was so helpful to send us a pot of hot water whill we requested. The hotel also provided shuttle service by motorcycle. The staff are super helpful & polite. The only minus point was the breakfast, very simple & small portion.
Breakfast, slow, small portion and poor coffee. The light in the room not bright enough, expecially bathroom. No kettle for boiling water.
the location and the swimming pool are very nice. just 5-10min to the city center. Not directly located in the crowded city town, but on the way to the city a very nice Italian restaurant!
a big spider in the room
Ridiculously friendly staff. Amazing setting, pool and food! Just slouch friendly and sincere people, it made our holiday.
We spent 4 nights here and loved it. The staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful. Our room was huge with a balcony that over the pool and rainforest. I Ioved the Balinese style of the whole resort and its quiet and tranquil location.
I thought the breakfast portion sizes were a little on the small side. If I was to offer improvements I would say they need umbrellas over the sun lounges to offer shade from the hot sun. Also they need to put a screen up on the bath so the shower water doesn't go everywhere.
