We were in the off season and it felt that we had the entire hotel to our leasure. The staff was extremly friendly as if waiting for something to do. The dschungel was regrowing and taking back some of the building structrure that provided a mystical touch.
There is no Wifi in the rooms. We pre-booked a taxi for peak up from airport that did not turn up.
Loved the original architecture and authentic Balinese stone work in this place... Established gardens, loads of space and privacy, gorgeous aspect and magnificent pool. Definitely recommend for singles or family
We visited during the quiet season so the atmosphere was fairly low key, but this was a bonus to us as we had the place to ourselves. I thought the food offerings at night were better in outside venues in terms of value for money, but the banquet breakfast was prefect.
The staff was very friendly. The view amd setting of our villa was very beautiful and peaceful. the bed was very comfortable as well. the toilets and lavatories were clean as well as the bed sheets and towels.
there were spiderwebs in the room in several places such as lamps, the bed side, etc. but of course this is because the villa is within pure nature and probably no DTT or insecticides are used. if you are not comfortable with insects, mosquitos, spiders or lizards we dont suggest you to stay in a villa in anywhere in Bali. the breakfast variety and taste were poor when compared to other 4-5 star hotels, but we managed. The towels provided for the pool side in the room had bleach stains on them and looked very old. Also, there is a free scheduled shuttle to Ubud town, but the times are not useful and only four times in a day even though its only 10 minutes away. In the end we really enjoyed our stay since the view and setting in the villa were beautiful.
Private swimming pool, all hotel area is very exotic (you feel in the middle if jungle). Perfect hotel!!!
the private pool speedy response for buggy service quiet ambience the privacy shuttle service to town nice view from the villa
location is far from main road no lighting from the main road to the hotel no iron and ironing board telephone is not functioning properly hence no morning call as requested breakfast buffet items is limited
Equipment running out of date. Balcony fence wabelling, just lights bulb outside pool, shower outside pool not working and when we arrived, there was a dirty towel on the deck chair
The setting was magical. like stepping into a temple. Peaceful and calming retreat away from the hustle and bustle of Bali. Beautiful villa with private pool. Staff were attentive, friendly and professional. Food delicious. Highly recommend!
*Villa - awesome *View - relaxing * Whole resort was beautiful *Proximity to Ubud with resort's shuttle service was very convenient and flexible *Locals added interest and authenticity *Breakfast was varied and fresh *Staff were attentive and very friendly - went out of their way to ensure our stay was above satisfactory *Renovations and construction were going on, which we were made aware of upon arrival. This was of no inconvenience to our stay because of the way it was managed. Well done :)
Price of hotel facilities - restaurant, pool bar and spa OTT compared to nearby facilities
Everything as always we love it here
We could not get the same room we had on our last stay due to renovations
The Staff and the location are great, the size of the two bedroom villa is very good
When we arrived they put us into two separate villas that were not fully finished and we had to change the next day, the food was not even average. Moreover, there was an electrical cable hanging out of the wall wit current on it and it exploded and fed while raining during the whole nights and it took them several days to fix it - ver, very dangerous. Constructions were going on with the workers showing more interest in why was going on in our villa then anything else. Overall much closer to a 3 star and certainly not worth the money
Staff is very helpful and friendly. Location is good and very quiet.
Lack of maintenance and cleanliness. Staff friendliness cannot compensate the lack of maintenance in the villa and it's surroundings.
Really enjoyed the stay in The Payogan. Staff was amazing especially Dian who help us lot. We stayed in a private pool villa. At first we were shown in to one which was right beside some building works. Straight away I asked if there was another villa available away from the building site. Then we booked in to a newer built villa which was amazing.
1. The manager was attentive and responded immediately to our predicament with the first room. 2. Staff in general were friendly and pleasant.
1. The duplex pool villa room we were first given was in need of urgent maintenance. The paint on the walls were flaking off due to water damage in multiple places. The wardrobe cabinets in the bathroom were rotting in places. There were multiple cobwebs in many places of the rooms. The central air conditioning in one of the rooms kept rattling with loud mimicking sounds all through the night (I must have only got 2 hours of sleep the entire night). The pool was not clean with dead insects and debris floating on the surface upon checkin and was not attended to by staff. 2. Upon raising these issues to the Manager the next morning, we were moved to another unit. Much better but poor maintenance was evident in the walls. Garden in open air bathroom was relatively neglected with large spiders having a comfortable life (they may have been the mosquito control staff). The 2nd room's circuit breaker gave way in the middle of the night and the air conditioning and bathroom lights were not functional until the next morning when the staff rectified it. 3. Breakfast-bacon is never deep fried. 4. The entire resort in general in in dire need of maintenance and upgrading. 5. Similar and even most smaller resorts have widespread wifi reach now. The Payogan unfortunately does note live up to a 5-star claim. I'm sure I will to be a return customer nor recommend the property to anyone unless urgent attention is taken to rectify the defects.
The views, the location, the villa and bathroom. The style of the design of the resort is like you entered a jungle ruin temple. It's a different world! Amazing!
There was construction going on right beneath our villa. We paid extra for a private pool which was not private or relaxing to use because of it. Resort should have informed us beforehand or should've offered some sort of compensation. Also, the massage/spa could've been better.
Extremely quite at night, suitable for honeymooners and not recommended for travelers with small kids.
The water in the bath was murky on our last day at the villa. They need to improve their water piping system.
Rooms were beautiful and secluded Pool was amazing Location was perfect for relaxing and sight seeing Staff was lovely Grounds were fantastic Outdoor shower was heaven
Some areas needed small refurbishments Spa needs an upgrade to facilities (to match the surroundings and give it some personality) Faster wifi should be reachable from restaurant and pool
The staff was amazing and very helpful. The surrounding gardens and views are beautiful. The swimming pool is great.
The hotel could use some renovations, it is a little bit run down. The location is not very good -it's quite far from the centre and you can not walk anywhere from the hotel.
Beauty of the surroundings, the staff were helpful and friendly.
Felt that room needed some renovating but all in all was comfortable.
the fact that we were not advised that major construction was underway by either the hotel or Booking.com
The hotel setting is beautiful and the rooms luxurious..... but beware!
We were not told that there was no any water supply at the hotel, when we booked in. When we notified the staff of the problem in the evening we were assured that the problem would be quickly fixed. In the morning, we discovered that it had been on ongoing problem for some days. But, the reception staff continued to tell us that it would be fixed any soon. We felt deceived by the hotel management and decided to find another hotel. On checking out, the staff insisted we pay the full tariff. It was all very unpleasant and ruined our holiday.
the resort is awesome tranquil beatiful gardens and set in the mountains.the food was excellent. would stay again but longer.
the stairs but they did have a buggy that would pick u up when called.
Staff Price Villas Brakfast Nature
Going on Constructions
Staff tried to resolve our problems quickly beautiful grounds
Room misadvertised and overpriced options Hard to find even for locals. Very little maintenance done on buildings
Authentic Bali traditional design, big open space, great nature surrounds villas
Quite far from Ubud center
Location was superb. Setting amongst the trees was gorgeous. Staff willingly changed my room when air con didn't work.
Hotel is old, 20 yrs past it's use by date. Restaurant was appalling, 2 out of three wines on menu was not available and that was not just temporary. The food was most unappealing. Everything needed a good clean; including the placemats at the dining table, curtains in the room, the drapes overhanging the 4 poster bed. There appeared to be no one in charge. It was like the kids were doing their best to manage and although very friendly and trying their best didn't have much of a clue.
