Good hotel with very friendly personal. The view and surroundings is great.
Restaurant a bit pricy. Wifi didn't work properly in our room.
Beautiful views, excellent, friendly helpful staff that Bent over backwards for us. Great location
boutique room, unique Balinese interior and style, amazing setting among nature, gorgeous view from infinity pool - getting real feel of Bali
room booked - smelling because of freshly painted oil painting, but staff was helpful enough to offer alternatives.
The owner. His art. The staff. The location is nice and quiet. Just beautiful. Breakfast was great! Awesome rooms.
The lived-in feel and design of the hotel is magical. It is not a sanitized, typical Western style "resort" but rather a true Balinese, tranquil experience away from the traffic and craziness of the beach resorts. The museum is absolutely one of a kind and is a treasure that we can only hope is retained for future generations. Peter the owner is an amazing man.
It was a little difficult to arrange tours, but this was due to a local festival and the Christmas holidays. We did eventually have a great tour on the last day.
-Wifi is good
-Location is not good the view of the room is not overlooking the rice fields, The view street. - The room was dirty and the bed linen was dirty and full of splatters. -The room furnished with sheap furniture. - This hotel can't be five star hotel it is three star hotel and the sheat me and I am so disappointed from booking.com how the gave this hotel five star. -I was in shock when is so the hotel location and hotel reception and the room. - I did check out after one hour. I can't stay in 3 star very dirty hotel and my reservation was non-refundable. -This hotel is 3 star hotel
Service, pools, breakfast, artistic design of individual rooms, the museum and gallery are worth a tour-you'll be blown away. Relaxation at its best after a hot day of shopping in ubud. Peter is the active owner and a helpful friendly guy from Denmark. Our room Pohon was spacious and private.
Restaurant was (relatively) expensive and priced in USD to be converted to IDR at a lower rate. Find a taxi for the airport shuttle. You save about 10 - 15 USD.
The staff was very friendly and the location was great. You get a free shuttle service to Ubud between 9AM-6PM. The resort has 2 very nice pools with an excellent view over the hill jungle. You can even take a walk down to the river. The studio we've stayed in was very spacious. The baths are very big and nice. The art gallery is amazing. We had an excellent stay here.
The wifi could be a little better. The breakfast could be a bit more diversified.
Everything was amazing. Very friendly staff & owner. Make sure to get a tour of the impressive art gallery. Initially we booked a cottage but on arrival felt better to stay within a studio. They arranged us to change immediately. The location is awesome, the restaurant is nice. Good price/quality ratio. Thanks for everything Tanah Merah staff & Peter.
If wifi coverage was a bit better it would have been awesome.
Infinity pool is the best. Everyone is nice in the hotel. Restaurant food is also delicious even though it is a bit expensive for Indonesia. Free shuttle to Ubud until 6 pm (even though they told us all the time, otherwise 50000 rupiah) internet was good (need to log out if you want to sign in again for another network) we stayed in Villa Bintang 2 that has very nice views of valley and the river. (Thanks for upgrading our room :))
Need to get a taxi to get there when you go to Ubud center but it is what you get if you want infinity pools with nice views.
The location, pool, decor, staff
Roosters, creaky beds, insects
The staff were really friendly and helpful. They were very accommodating whenever we wanted to be dropped off in Ubud. The breakfasts were amazing - both the food and the view. The Balinese style villas were authentic looking and felt secluded. For those into art, Peter, the owner has an extensive collection that he is happy to show. We were happy to stay a bit further out than other resorts to get the Balinese feel (near rice fields, temple)
I had a bit of trouble with the Wi-Fi - it would drop out when I moved from my villa and then took a bit of fiddling to reconnect. The flipside to the amazing hillside views is that there are lots of steps - which might be a problem for some people. It is only a couple of kms to Ubud, so we'd assumed we'd be able to walk or cycle into Ubud ... until we saw how narrow, steep and circuitous the road is. Dinner was a little more expensive than in Ubud, but the food tasted great and the value for money on the accommodation more than made up for it
Quite location. Staff are helpful
Upstairs neighbor noise. Location is far.
2 huge beds which fits family with one kid. The hotel itself located in the mountain valley the view is awesome and the ambiance is very relaxing and friendly. Great breakfast with nice view.Overall its a great value for money.
slow wifi in room. luggage boys didnt really hope taking luggage to our rooms which is on the 2nd floor.
Fantastic room beautifully decorated with interesting pictures and ornaments. Set in a traditional village in the countryside. We were very well looked after.
very nice place, rtelaxing, art gallery from the owner is great!
The place where the hotel is set is amazing, in the middle of forest/jungle. Amazing views and swimming pool you could only dream about. Helpful staff, great breakfast.
It is a little away from Ubud centre (4 km) that can be a little uncomfortable. Transfer from hotel to downtown is great, but would be an improvement to set some transfer back to the hotel.
A wide astonishing view from the Bintang 2 Villa, Service excellence and staff curteousness, peaceful and loving atmosphere, free shuttle to Ubud center, beautiful collection of art at the gallery and resort museum.
Unique place combining mountain resort, gallery and museum under one roof. Excellent service, the staff is so helpful that they are there before you even ask
Was waken up by cockerels and chickens from the neighbouring village every day.. But this voulu not be helped by the resort staff of course
i stayed only for i night during my trip around bali. Did not plan to go there but i found it in my way. I was lucki to find such a nice place near ubud. Strongly recomended
The place is almost magical! It's set up as a gallery/ park. During the entire stay we did not see any people (almost). Quite private and quiet. Great breakfast, only couple of options of recur open style breakfast but tasty fresh foods and served to your villa if you like. Staff was smiling, friendly and helpful. We rented bikes one morning to go and take photos of nearby rice paddies in the morning sun. Stunning! If you are looking for a place to chill, stay away from lively Ubud and wake up to a view of rice paddies and forest, this is a place for you. We loved Ubud- you could go there anytime. Take around 15-20min. Staying in T.Merah was a nice mix of town life, great cafés and buzz and quiet evenings/ mornings, lazy swims and time with a good book.
Slightly further away from town (Ubud) than we thought. You pay around 60k rupiah to come up from Ubud- ride to town is offered free by the Tanah Merah driver. Internet in our villa was down during our stay, which was a little disappointing (needed some internet time).
Studio room with nice furniture, pool, one way free transfer to center
Noise from staff talking during the night, Slow service during breakfast
The room was impressive. Good breakfast. ice location and pools.
Chickens and ducks next to the hotel crowing, do not let a good relax. Wi-fi is poor.
Stayed here last month. This is a complex of several individual villas- all different from each other in decor and size. As well, there is one small 6-plex of studio rooms - new, large and nicely appointed. The property is lovely, sitting on a river gorge - lush, with great views. Two great pools, lots of lounge area. Lovely dining room; different great breakfast area. Excellent large, fresh breakfasts. Staff are helpful and friendly. The owner, Peter, is a very interesting man - willing to please his guests; clearly dedicated to his staff and the local village community.. He has an amazing art gallery as well as "The Collection", which he encourages you to visit. We enjoyed our stay...however, a few tips: be very careful as you view the website to note the different rooms...and be quite specific about what you want. We stayed in a villa for the first 4 nights (probably the oldest one on the property) and while it was large, it's décor was tired, and the bathroom in desperate need of renovation. On our last night, Peter moved us to a brand new room...very nice. The complex is about 10 minutes from the middle of Ubud. We liked this - nice to be in the lush riverbank - complementary shuttle to town whenever you need it. Only $5 cab ride back to home base.
Tenah Merah is nestled into the local village....between two farms. Be prepared for early morning rooster wake-up. Note - the studio complex sits right up against a pig farm and the odour can be very strong. Note 2 - the staff are quick to help with any organized tours. However the same tours can be booked along the main street in Ubud for half the price.
