Service was just OK, nothing special and didn't feel like you were in a top end hotel. Facilities good, but to be honest nothing to justify the price tag except the lovely location.
One gripe that really switched me off the place is that they offer the usual tea and coffee stuff in the room, together with a Nespresso machine to make your own cappuccino. Nice touch we thought - until at checkout when they tried to make us pay for the privilege! No prior indication that it was any different from the usual complimentary stuff in the room. In fairness when I protested, they were quick to deduct it, which makes me think we were not the first to complain.
I rarely post a negative review, but this made me mad, the cost was only a couple of quid but given the price of the room it just gave an impression of "let's milk the customer for every penny we can get". Really, manager of The Reef, either take those coffee machines out of the room or make clear there is a charge, it demeans the sense of luxury living and leaves the customer with a bad final impression.
Fantastic location, private sitting and lounging area just steps from the sea(although stony underfoot so not ideal for swimming unless you had something on your feet). Good menu at restaurant, and food excellent. We enjoyed it.
