We were moved into another villa with only one hours notice, they said due to renovations, although we had booked in at least five months in advance. We had asked for a private villa (five months earlier) as it was our wedding anniversary. The first villa was used by some of the workers on neighboring work sites to walk through the bottom of the yard to sit and go fishing, I didn't like this as at times I was alone and having three men walking through was not my idea of privacy, they were very respectful and didn't look up or anything, it's just not something I was comfortable with. They would have been two, three meters from the bali hut were I was reading/resting. Then when we were moved we ended up right next to reception and the public area, so when I lay out in the sun or went for a swim, everyone could see straight into our area, directly into our pool, bali hut, lawn area, even the window on the side looked straight onto the reception, so I just had to keep that curtain closed at all times.
Our toilet in the second villa constantly got blocked.....everyday at least.
It was really in need of some TLC and having left there to stay another two weeks at other villas we really noticed just how much more the others put into making you feel more at home, Water Edge Villa could really use a leaf out of their books.
We would not stay again.
The staff were fabulous, especially Julie whose laugh was infectious. The pool was nice and clean and the rooms made up well everyday. The area was perfect for us as my husband surfed Uluwatu everyday (sometimes twice) we hired a car which gave us freedom to come and go, which was good as there wasn't much around. The security at the entrance at the front of the road was excellent and made me feel very secure. We enjoyed the little Italian restaurant on the way to Uluwatu, the food was great, we probably went there at least five times. We stayed nine days and probably should of stayed for only five. All in all it was quite nice.
