Abbey Court Hostel

It's right in city center.

Not the most comfortable. There was a bedside lamp but no outlet so had to move table to bad spit to use light, then could barely reach it from bed.

I liked the access to computers and the knowledge of the staff. The location is great. The people I met were great.

The water in the showers was definitely not warm enough. It makes everything so much better when you can have a hot shower in the morning.

The location was really great!

The girl on the reception was not a good professional and did not give me the basic information I needed for my only night at the hostel... There was another guy and that`s when things became a little better because he was much more courteous.

common rooms maybe- in case you get more space available- expand the supply of hammocks in the hammock room -sofas were great as well!

sometimes the wlan access was overloaded- neighter worked on the provided desktops (great you have those though!) nor on my cell

This hostel was perfect! Could not be closer to the action in the city, rooms were clean and comfortable-we stayed in a 20bed dorm. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and most importantly-the price was beyond perfect! Well done Abbey Court!!

Some mixups with my room - the staff seems a little unorganized at times. First night, they put me in the wrong room then woke me up at 1:30am because the person who had booked my bed showed up. They also ended up charging my credit card for one night a coupke days after I showed up, even though I paid cash for all nights. They fixed it as soon as I brougt it to their attention, but still...frustrating to deal with.

I loved this hostel. The location was great, the staff was friendly and it had everything you could need on location.

There was not a thing I did not like about this hostel.

The position close city center (better position between O'Connell Street and Temple Bar), cheaper price, many people in the structure from all the rest of the world!

Very friendly staff. Excellent value for money and central location. Despite being on Quays with a lot of traffic there was no traffic noise in dorms.

At the price any minor criticisms would be churlish.

Bed was extremely comfortable...Great big tabled area downstairs to work, eat and relax in, and the temperature was just perfect for mid- winter. It could not be more central to everything.

When I arrived, staff member had no record of my booking, and maintained this despite my having presented an email record of my booking. To his credit, he upgraded me to a better room (although the hostel was half vacant that night anyway). The following morning, another member of staff didn't even care that I was leaving. The term 'continental breakfast' is perhaps a little bit misleading.

Lifts did not work so had to walk up four flights of stairs. Apartment smelt really badly of stale cigarette smoke. Bed very uncomfortable and cramped for double room. Bathroom in desperate need of repair

Location. Hostel was located at bachelors walk, just next to O'Connor street, where the main street was. Prices were competitive and affordable.

Unfortunately, the price and the location were the only 2 good things about the hostel. I stayed in a 32 bed room, inside the rainbow room and it was really uncomfortable. Toilets were small and dirty, there were frequently faeces stains on the toilet bowls which made it really dirty. The shower was weak and inadequate, there was cold water frequently dripping from the ceiling onto me while I was showering. Wifi was pretty much non existent. I tried accessing the wifi from all over the hostel, the reception, kitchen, my bedroom, none of which worked. Only on my last day did the wifi manage to work for a short period of time, but it still took 3 minutes to load a web page on their slow wifi As for the staff, I was served by 2 receptionist staff during my stay, one male, one female. The male staff was friendly and nice, but the female staff gave me the impression that she was rude. She would constantly stare at her computer screen, and would not look at me even when I was asking her questions. Even when customers greeted her in the morning she would just ignore them. My final gripe was about the keycard system. Guests staying in the rainbow room did not have keycards, and would always have trouble entering the second entrance into the hostel. I had to rely on reception to get me in but unfortunately, they are always busy. To enter the hostel, I usually have to wait 5-10 minutes for the staff to buzz me in. Overall: services and facilities were poor, but location was good.

There is actually one thing that I didn't like about the hostel. I booked the night for me and my four friends. Upon arrival we were told that we would be staying in beds 1-5 in room 27. We put our bags away and went to a concert. When we came back, I found that someone had their stuff left in my bed. I asked the receptionist about this and she said that we were actually staying in beds 1,3,4,5 and 24. I found this odd as we had booked all together and were previously told otherwise. I said I would take bed 24 but when I got upstairs there was someone asleep in there. We were going out that out and the receptionist told us that when we came back to check and see if there was a bed free and if not, she could do nothing for us. I found this very rude and it ruined my stay in the hostel. She said it was there fault but didn't do anything to resolve the situation.

I liked the fact that the Hostel was ideally located close to O'Connell Street. I found the staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms were warm and clean. There were adequate showering facilities, both in the rooms and in the corridors. Towels, hair dryers etc are provided on request.

There was nothing I did not like.

We booked a private room and it was AWESOME. They gave us an apartment really comfortable.

We had the breakfast included but 1) time is too short (from 08.00 to 09.30) when you are on holiday you want to relax and not being thinking about getting pretty early 2) there were only bread, jams and butter. that was it. really poor and the place was a little bit dirty.

Location was pretty good. Price wasn't that good, but if you're trying something cheap in the city center, it works.

The photos are HARDLY matching poor quality of the rooms (at least the double room - which is in fact two single beds). They didn't arrange beds, just replaced towels. The whole place was kind of dirty and there was a noticeable lack of upgrading, even if you're a young, not too demanding backpacker.
