Abbeyglen Castle Hotel  

The hotel is in excellent hill loccstion with a beautiful view of Clifden. TTere is s short walk from hotel to the town.

This hotel is a gem. Run since years by the father & son (Paul & Brian) combo and their first class team. Dedicated to service and full of charm. Food is high quality, generous and good value.

The location was spectacular, and the food/staff in the dining room was great. Gilbert the house parrot was very entertaining.

Abbeyglen was a considerable let down considering the cost for the rooms and the generally run-down state of the rooms (at least the ones we stayed in). After 30 days of travelling through Scotland and Ireland, Abbeyglen was the most expensive place we stayed in and the most disappointing in terms of condition of the rooms and facility. My recommendation would be to research all of the other facilities in the area before selecting Abbeyglen.

The staff were friendly and helpful.. The atmosphere created in the hotel was very welcoming and everyone went out of their way to help. I would recommend this hotel to anyone

The staff were excellent. The restaurant was very good. This hotel has great potential to be one of the top places to stay in the Connemara region with just a few updates to the guest rooms.

The rooms are a bit outdated. I think it would be a top-notch hotel if they updated the bathrooms and had new bedspreads and curtains.

Charming; comforting. Offers a significant dinner discount for residents. Good bar with nice entertainment; great complimentary tea time with scones; many cozy places to sit and read , contemplate, or chat, rooms are large--ours included a living room with small fire place. Smells a bit dusty, could could use a little refurbishing, and is a bit over priced to be sure: otherwise a great stay--all visitors to Clifden should visit there at least once. PS. You'll love the reasonably priced desert bar--Yum!

The price. I traveled with only one friend--survey does not allow for this option so I had to select "group."

It's in 5 min walking from the center of Cliffden town. Beautiful views and interiors. Very friendly staff (and the parrot by name Gilbert). In the evening there was a champagne party where we met new people who are also staying at the hotel.

I loved the location , and Jennifer in reservations was excellent when I changed my booking to a superior Room. I had a lovely room... Food was lovely and service was efficient .

I don't like buffet hot breakfast they lack a persona touch plus they are always just warm and everything is over done especially eggs..I take so much when cooking eggs...Scrambled was like rubber...I worked for 1st class airline for years and we could manage to personally breakfast to the customers .I like to be served a hot breakfast hot and my eggs to my liking .

Loved the warmth, hospitality, the food, the piano playing, the setting, the scenery...and champagne ! It was a great break, would strongly recommend it. There was a lovely atmosphere and great craic in the bar and the food couldn't be beaten. Well done!

I am a very cold person so needed blankets....and even with one had my coat over me! Would have appreciated blankets being in the room instead of having to ask for them, but otherwise all good.

Was a little tired

The welcome, information on arrival and attention to special details was excellent. The rooms were well presented and to a very high standard. The restaurant had a fab ambience, the choice and range was excellent and the service was special. The bar had a music and singing all night everyone had a wonderful time.

There were no robes or face cloths in the bedroom.

Very friendly staff. Lovely room with 4 poster bed and gas fire. Great breakfast. Tea and fresh scones in the afternoon.

We loved the welcoming fire in the lobby and the bar, the friendly,efficient staff, the quiet, the craic at night, the views from the hotel and especially our bedroom. It was recommended to us and we will certainly pass on the recommendation to other friends in Switzerland.

amazing hotel, rooms are the height of luxury and comfort.Bar is what bars in ireland used to be like-great place for drink and chat and refreshing to see no tv. Will be back again and again.

The friendly welcome. The champane reception. The excellent service and food. The tea and scones were all lovely touchs. The brothers work very hard at making people feel welcome. It's a long time since we had such good service and especially the quality of the breakfast.

Welcoming, friendly staff. Nothing was a problem. &Quot;we're here to provide all your needs" We dropped back for coffee in the afternoon,having checked out earlier, to be told there would be no charge as they still regarded as their guests.

The warm reception extended to me on arrival, continued throughout my stay, the food, and rooms were exemplary, I shall return again and again.

We had the most wonderful time at the Abbey glen, the castle was beautiful and the owners and staff were excellent, the food was out of this world and the entertainment was just brillant , i havent had so much fun in a long time, great people , we will def be going again soon.

Lack of temperature control in room during the night, but found that to be common in Ireland Hotels. No wify in rooms, but understand thats do to structure.

Wished we stayed longer
