The room was lovely and clean and so was the bathroom.
We were waiting outside the house for a while because there was no one to let us in.
Cozy room with kettle and some cookies, coffee and tee. Calm place.
We had been for around 30 min knocking on the door and bell, and calling by phone. No answer at all. When we were about to leave a neighbor helped us out; he gave us a spare key and charged the price. The room is actually small, toilet also tiny. TV image quality poor. We saw on the web that there was hairdryer, refrigerator and slippers... nothing of this.
Clean bathroom and clean bending
When I reached there nobody was there I gave to wait for 30 minutes outside. They told me breakfast will be ready at 9 am when I went there no body was there and kitchen door was locked so went out without breakfast. Lastly on line booking showed me double bedroom but actually they give me single room
They did 't pick up call before 8.
Martin, the owner, made our stay! The house is very cosy, clean, with nice staff. Easy to get downtown from here. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Great Breakfast Quiet close to Station
In general everything was great. I was during a whole week in the top room, which is ensuite, has a small table with hot water machine and some products to make your tea, cookies, etc. The bathroom is fully reformed, they put shower gel, and change the towels everyday. In the room you also have TV, and WI-Fi works perfectly (which it was super important for me). The breakfast is the Irish-English breakfast with eggs, bacon, beans, bread, cooked at the moment and served by the owner.
I didn't mind it, but if someone mind it, the TV althought is very modern has not remote control. The house is an typical old house which means small stairs which could be an issue if you have heavy bagages, in my case the guy who made my check-in helped me with the heavy one.
everything book in said 11am when we arrived was met by a really unfriendly man who told us we could not book in till 2pm when we went back we could not get no answer tried phoning numbers left one didn't answer second told us it wasn't a b an b luckily enough a man came out of next door and called someone else who let us in no explanation what so ever was given really angry that I had paid
Very nice and friendly Staff, the bathroom was very clean, only about 10-15 minutes to walk into the city center of Dublin, good transportation services nearby (about 25 min. to the airport)
You can easily hear noise from your room neighboors through the walls, bed sheets could have been more clean
The bathroom in my room at Abbington House was probably the only good thing I can say about it. It was a decent size and everything worked well. It was also clean. The fact that internet and cable were included was good, too.
I think I can encapsulate everything I didn't like about Abbington House by saying I felt extremely uncomfortable. First off, neither of the cab drivers I had that brought me there had ever heard of it, and admitted they didn't like the looks of it from the outside. Bad way to start. There were major communication barriers with the staff, so hardly any of my questions got answered. I was warned about the safety of the area by all the locals (I had been staying downtown Dublin before I moved to this hotel). The room itself was tiny and cramped, and I could hear every little thing that went on in and around the hotel. It smelled of stale smoke right when I walked in, and I just did not feel safe there - I even pushed my suitcase up against the door when I went to bed for extra security, whatever good it would have actually done. I was supposed to stay for two nights, but it was so bad that I checked out early (no refund, of course) and bought myself another hotel room closer to the airport. I would not recommend this place.
Nice room for the right price; close to the city center (20/25 minutes by feet).
You can hear everything from one room to the other. During the day, there is not a fixed person (no reception) that can help the customers if there is a problem or request. The only way is call the owner, but there is no guarantee that he will come to help you in a short time.
Manager/owner was completely unprofessional and rude to my wife and me. We were accused of breaking a shower door when the Manager/owner agreed that my wife and I were not present at the time of the incident yet we were still told we would be criminally charged and billed. This happened on the first night making the rest of our stay extremely uncomfortable. Just to have the manager/owner tell us he was never going to do anything or bill us he just wanted to argue. We have traveled to many places in Europe and have never been treated so poorly. I would not recommend this hotel for my worst enemy!
The room was nice and clean. Direct bus to the airport from the station nearby.Good connection to the city centre.
We had to wait a long time at the frontdoor before someone let us in and gave us the key..
The Room was clean.
There was no one on site when we arrived at this B & B and after wasting an afternoon waiting to get in, finally managed to make contact with the owner, Martin When we spoke to him about the long wait and the uncertainty of what we should do, he basically told us "not to whine about it". The room was small. The TV reception was very poor and there was no DVD as advertised. The bathroom was very small and cramped with hardly enough room to turn around in the shower. There were no hooks or racks for the towels. We did not request a cooked breakfast on the morning of our departure, we did however, expect a continental breakfast. There was no one available to provide this service for us and the kitchen was locked. We waited until 9 a.m. at which time we had to depart for the airport without our breakfast. We would not recommend this B & B.
Tiny room, no in house person have to go house next door and knock on door if need any thing , parking out back on waste ground , smelly , very noisey , felt very un comfortable & un safe funny feeling bout it , the best part of my weekend was leaving this dump , stained bed clothes , stained dirty carpet , tiny bathroom , no curtains in room , a complet dump
Martin the owner was kind and helpful and made us feel at home. Others running the day to day accommodations were very friendly. The rooms are a good size and clean with soap and fresh towels and sheets every day. Breakfast was traditional Irish and tasty. 20 minute walk to City Centre.
It`s a very nice hostel. It`s clean and relatively cheap. The owner is very nice and helpful. The rooms are small but, taking into consideration they`re quite low-budget, it`s not bad. The most important thing is that they are really cleaned (!) and comfy, towels are changed every day, biscuits are left on the tray and so on, like in a real B&B, which is not always obvious. The building has very thin walls so it might be a bit noisy but on the other hand it doesn`t accommodate many people so it`s not really a problem. The Irish breakfast is fresh and very tasty, I recommend it to everyone! The location is not bad. It takes about 5 minutes to get to the centre by bus and about 15-20 minutes on foot (quick walk), so it`s not that bad. It`s north Dublin, so the area is not the most pleasant one, but there`s nothing I would particularly dislike about it. It`s just a north city residential area. All in all, I would recommend the place. I hope to come back there one day! :-))
Clean and decor quite new. Location not bad.
No staff on hand. There was a note on booking confirmation to say to advise time of arrival but didnt know this was because no staff on hand at the premises. Eventually was let in by a neighbour who said owner was his boss. This man was pleasant and polite but never before stayed at an establishment where there were no staff on hand. Front door therefore locked and I was left in the rain trying to make contact to gain access. Rooms advertised as spacious but my room at top of house in the attic was anything but. The photos do not show this room on the website. Thought price of 75 Euro quite pricey considering another night which was more central was only 47 Euros.
A clean, comfortable and conveniently located B & B for the tired traveller en-route to or from Dublin Airport. Very good value for money and a pleasant staff.
Breakfast was good. On street parking permit provided for the length of the stay.
- Arrived at the B&B within the stated check in period but found confusing messages on the door on how to gain access. Rang bells but no answer immediately. Next door neighbour eventually turned up to let me in, there was a phone number on the front door but that was wrong. - Was given keys to the room but couldn't see it as it was still being cleaned, no problem I thought as I wanted to go into the city centre anyway. Came back later in the day and found that I had been placed in a very oddly shaped attic single room when I had booked and paid for a double room. - Went back to the neighbour to try getting it sorted but as they were foreign and English wasn't their first language it was hard to get the point across and to understand what they were trying to say. - As the room was in the attic there were panels in the room which contained what sounded like water tanks/heaters. Was quite noisy while I assume people were having showers in the other rooms. Luckily the other guests didn't use showers too late so it didn't affect me while I was sleeping.
Arrived 2 no parking, even though I requested prior 2 booking, room filthy, staff could not speak a word of english..an when we arrived we we're locked out as know one was there to meet us,front door locked, stay away people...
Good location but not first choice. Staff was available but difficult communication.
Friendly staff, clean, quiet, good location for buses to centre, nothing too much trouble
Noisy, uncomfortable bed, tv didn't work. If you like the smell of curry floating into your room then stay here.
Excellent value for money, staff member very friendly and helpful with parking
