The staff was friendly, flexible, and unobtrusive. The downstairs decor was pleasant. It was nice to be able to order tea or coffee or a drink whenever I wished. This highly reviewed inn seemed a bit tatty--at least the room I was in seemed so. I felt that I was placed in the old servant's quarters. The room was on a high floor and since there is no lift, there were too many stairs to have to climb up and down on a regular basis. The bathroom facilities were primitive (no mixing of hot and cold water in the sink; no hairdryer) and some of the towels were definitely threadbare. It was all too easy to hear the folks in the next room--especially in the middle of the night. Given the booking.com discount I did not feel quite entitled to complain--but I was disappointed.

The staff was fabulous and actually helped me in planning the rest of my trip. The drawing room had a computer with access to a printer for making those important tour and train reservations. Wi-Fi throughout saved me time and roaming fees. Breakfast was great and although I was traveling alone - there were families and couples staying there as well. I would highly recommend the Aberdeen Lodge and will stay there again on my next visit to Dublin. The location was only a minor issue since taxi was the most common transport I took into the city. However, the bus route was very close - I just need to learn the route and schedule information. Will rely on the bus system on my next visit.

Friendliest staff ever. Everybody was outstanding and really nice. Location is ok, 5 minutes from dart, very quiet neighbourhood with a good restaurant nearby A bit overpriced. Also, given the particular type of building, we heard all the steps at the upper floor, due to wood creaking. We had also some sat channel on tv, but probably tuned on the owner's receiver: we lost the end of a movie we were watching because he decided to view another one :-)

The warm welcoming nature of this boutique hotel was a pleasant surprise which continued through out our whole stay which, initially for only 2 days, we extended and then returned. The rooms are very comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful and the breakfast a delight. Within close proximity to transport if needed, a cheap taxi trip to the city if that is preferred or a meal at the local well appointed restaurants only a walk away the Aberdeen Lodge is ideal. After experiencing personal service of this nature we will certainly be recommending this hotel to any travellers to Dublin.

We received a very warm welcome, with tea and cookies, and lots of useful information about Dublin. Location was good in a pleasant Edwardian suburb, with easy bus and train access to Dublin centre, easy walking access to local facilities and restaurants, and convenient for Dublin Port. Rooms were spacious and comfortable and the whole hotel was very tastefully furnished and decorated. Good, interesting breakfast. Superb service, tea and coffee on demand anytime.

Excellent small private hotel, not many whistles and bells however if you are looking for a comfortable well run anti-dote to the faceless Hiltons of this world then stay at the Aberdeen Lodge.

The lodge offers very nice Dublin lodging in an affluent suburb with quick city access via the Dart. The breakfast is very nice (both food and presentation) as were the sandwich/salad plates made for us when we returned from the theater. A beach is nearby for walking. A couple of nearby restaurants offer good food within walking distance. The hosts and staff are terrific.

The staff is excellent and the hotel is beautiful. For a small hotel the services were on par with a larger luxury hotel. The breakfast was fantastic with a great view to the garden. The lounge is comfortable with daily newspapers, computer and free wifi. Near a very nice local area of Dublin called Sandymount with several pubs and good restaurants. Not in the center of Dublin, but the number 2 or 3 bus stops very close to the Lodge. In the evening a taxi costs about 12 Euros from the center to the Lodge.

Very pleasant home on grand street in great location on the outskirts of Dublin. Enclosed formal backyard with tables for breakfast outdoors. 10 minute walk to Dublin Bay, two town areas 10 min wak for dining, very pleasant breakfast with hot choices and buffet items. Will serve dinner if requested. Two sports clubs with large fields and active youth and adult teams in neighborhood (rugby, soccer, cricket, hockey, and bowling). 5 minute walk to dart stop, 10 mins cab ride to city center. Highly personal staff seemed to accomodate everyone's needs well. I was on business but there were holiday travellers and couples as well.

The owner's attention. Details such as tea and cookies offered when I arrived, and my luggage carried upstairs before I knew it. Eggs were over cooked, to my taste but it may be a cultural distinction. So, I will get used to it, no problem. If you do mind, you may just want to ask the very friendly staff when you order breakfast.

My entire stay at Aberdeen Lodge was perfect. From the greeting with the pot of tea and cookies, to the cooked to order breakfasts to the accomodating staff I couldn't have asked for more. Included in this was the daytime attendant who called the cab I was in on the way to the airport to tell me that the camera I had left in a previous cab had been returned. Simple little things like that that should I return to Dublin I will be booking this hotel again. Also appreciated the locked closet for my belongings after I checked out and before I headed to the airport 4 hours later.

Pleasant staff. Convenient non-city-centre location. On the "fair, not excellent" value-for-money rating, I happen to be visiting Germany now where the bed-and-breakfast rate in a comparable hotel is significantly lower.
