The hotel seriously needs updating. The wifi hardly worked. Service needs sharpening up. If you only want somewhere to sleep, that is central, fine. Just ignore the electrical tape holding tables together. Ignore the youth hostel feel of the breakfast area. We were on a budget and it was somewhere to sleep - but I'd look elsewhere next time. It's a shame - the hotel could have fabulous potential
Reception called at 9 am to confirm out details, 10am cleaning ladies walked into the hotel room while were sleeping. 11Am they knocked to come back in. It was filthy unwelcoming and expensive ... never again.
Noisy and full of drunk people.
Friendly & helpful staff.
Too noisy, even with earplugs the traffic & noise on Dame street kept me awake for most of the night!!
Price at 49 Euro.
Wifi was difficult to connect to (could only get one phone connected). Noise from street in room.
Loved the breakfast - it really rounded the stay off nicely. Great ambiance & tasty food.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, putting an extra bed in the room for us even though we hadn't originally booked it. helped us find our way around dublin, booked taxis etc. would definitely stay there again.
Room old and dated. Bed was bad.
I booked this hotel for me and my girlfriend for her birthday got a phone on the day to say we had to book you into the central hotel around the corner cause some rooms were damaged at weekend well the central hotel is a disgrace rooms are stone cold no hot water 1 TV channel beds like hard uncomfortable place was a he'll hole all this was down to the mercantile hotel they should look after paying customers
The noise was a little annoying. The very strong smell of food out in the hallway was slightly annoying.
Absolutely love staying in the mercantile, its a perfect location and such friendly staff. One of the hotels I will always go back to.
Single glazed window, allowed a lot of st noise, which didn't let you get a good night's sleep.
Location and staff
Very disappointed with the breakfast. Had booked it in advance, always my favourite part of an hotel stay. There was no buffet, no cereals or juice. It was in the coffee shop and open to everyone
The location was perfect for city shopping and sightseeing.
Door stop on floor, tripped and hurt toes couple of times.
Cheap, Excellent WiFi, great shower, clean beds
The wifi didn't work for me. I could only connect if u left my room. But then the connection would disappear again after 5 minutes. Also had a problem with the hot water so for 3 day freezing cold showers
I liked the bar area was nice an spacious an lots of choice
Noisy - no sleep. Old
heating not working first night , no view a bit noisy at night hence ear plugs! no Irish breakfast on menu only French style rubbish.
nothing in particular
Average hotel few things were broken like drawer handles
Location was great. Comfy and roomy beds. Polite staff
Our room was on the first floor, directly above the bar. It was so loud we didn't get any sleep.
Excellent location and staff
The room it's self was fine, but it was at the back of the hotel on the first floor, so it was very noisy all night long, no sleep what so ever, which is grand if you're only staying one night, but I pity any one staying longer. Also it could do with a re paint and new carpets in communal areas, very grubby and a strange smell.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
We had to go through the bar to get to the hotel, even early in the day. The first bouncer was very apologetic when we explained we were hotel guests but later I found them quite rude towards us. If you're looking for a quiet night the street noise and cleaning in the morning would be a problem but we were there to go out so it was more than ideal.
Stayed here on Paddy's night because I was going to to a gig across the road at the Olympia. The hotel is literally a minute's walk away. As it was Paddy's Day, it was incredibly busy and loud in the area but it wasn't an issue as we knew what to expect. The staff were lovely, room very clean and the wifi works fine. I stayed here last Paddy's Day too for the same reason, and it says it all that I returned again.
Accomodation was very bad
We have always received a warm and friendly welcome at this hotel which offers great charm & character along with all the comforts required for a relaxing break. The location is ideal to explore on foot the great sites and entertainments that Dublin has to offer.
Located by noisy bars open late so couldn't sleep!
Clean, good facilities in room.
