Noises at night as near street
comfortable warm spacious room comfortable bed. clean bathroom
where breakfast was served? no space, for tables or chairs, or customers. tv on loud plus radio at same time in early morning.
Staff are warm, friendly and cooperative. Night staff very professional
This hotel is perfect for anyone having a weekend in Dublin. It's literally in the heart of all the action. Suitable more for groups of friends in large numbers (girls or boys).
Location and price
Room badly lite, Wi-fi didn't work.
Absolutely love the location of this place, the bed is so so comfy and the staff are lovely. You get what you pay for but definitely satisfied, will definitely stay again
The only slight problem is the noise from the pub downstairs it can be very noisy
Brilliant location for going out in Dublin. Room is really big and bed is very comfortable
Same street as the Olympia theatre which was our reason for staying there.
The Merchantile felt more like a B/B than a hotel. The busy bar was noisy at night as was the Dame Tavern underneath our bedroom with people smoking and drinking in the lane below.Breakfast did'nt consist of the normal buffet breakfast that most hotels provide. The area is more suited to the 20 30 age group. The main reception lies to the back of the hotel with a very busy bar to the front when you walk through the front door. It seems to be first of all a bar with the onus on the bar end of things and secondly a hotel. If you are a young couple the Merchantile may suit you. We found it too busy to even get a drink in and went up to Reids above the Olympia where we could get a drink and a seat in comfort. The tables at breakfast are very small for a couple.Maybe that was why the full irish arrived complete with two rounds of sliced loaf all on the same plate.
There was some disruption during the night apart from the street and pub noise - shouting and knocking on doors, in the morning there was guard on duty on corridor. We complained to receptionist and were dismissed and told we were in 'party central'!
Staff were so friendly, The room was spacious with a window that opened fully (unlike windows in some hotels the only open 1/4 the way). Free wi fi and a late bar down stairs for residents..
i tried to book another night on the morning i was supposed to check out and they were booked up! everything was top notch here
The friendly staff
Room facilities, central position
Lack of luggage storage, unpleasant staff, no reception during the night
Loved our stay here, location was excellent, room was lovely, great atmosphere in the hotel, bar and housekeeping staff were always pleasant, food was good, would definitely go back, and will recommend to friends!
Room was clean didnt need earplugs which was supplied would stay there again
price of drink in hotel bar was expensive
Proximity to everything I needed
Noise from street
Water pressure of facilities. Clean towels
Furniture worn, outdated & in need of repair. Room 206 wardrobe foot plate broken.
Very friendly, helpful, cheerful and welcoming staff at reception. :D
It was a little noisy, as is to be expected as the hotel does border George's St. Rooms lack insulation.
Hotel is horrible and dated, the elevator looks like it's about to break. Right above a busy nightclub, which leads onto an alley of busy nightclubs, across the road from a whole road of (you guessed it) BUSY NIGHTCLUBS! they give you earplugs in your room for a reason, but it won't help. my room looked directly onto an alleyway, in which there was people screaming, shouting and fighting all night. Staff haven't a clue what they're doing here, took them forever to find my reservation. definitely wouldn't stay here again.
Location,Check in Lady so friendly,Priced fairly for its location,Had no problems with anything in the hotel, Just don't expect the Ritz
Room was freezing cold . Checked out early to get away from the cold , rang down for a heater no one available to even answer the phone , mattress of bed was so thin and worn was nearly on the ground , never ever again , never experienced cold like it ,
Staff really welcoming and friendly make you feel right at home, location perfect for being out and about in Dublin day or night!
Loved the heart of the city location.
If I hadn't been exhausted and ready to sleep so early, I would have loved to be part of the night-long party on the streets. Heard every bit of it from our street side room location.
Location. Nice warm room with good en-suite. Room at rear was nice and quiet.
Breakfast service could have been better.
Very helpful and friendly staff
The bedroom was a little too dark needed better lighting
