This friendly hotel has lovely views of the sea and estuary and offers well-priced food. It is a good base for visits to Waterford, Cashel, Cork, and Cobh.

Room had a musky smell with old furniture!
Loved the place
Youghal, although some charm has not much to offer. If hotel located in another city I would recommend it. A sad commentary
The hotel was very comfortable and the food very nice , would stay there again
Kay and David are excellent hosts. They went out of their way to make us comfortable. The facility is roomy and very pleasant. The amenities were excellent. David's food was the best we had in 10 days of holiday.
We only stayed one night. Should have stayed longer.
bar food ex, breakfast very good, bedroom large and comfortable
On checking in, I decided along with my friend to eat in the restaurant. Halfway through eating I noticed something that concerned me in the middle of my dish. It appeared to me and to my friend to be a maggot or slug. I reported this to the waitress who took it away and came back to tell me that the chef said that it was a piece of celery. To me it looked nothing like celery as it was the only piece in my dinner. This was all done in a subtle way, without fuss or argument, we quietly reported it to the waitress without making a scene of any kind. Firstly I was told I would get half off the price of the dish, we paid and at the end another waiter asked was everything ok, and we explained the situation, he came back and refunded the whole price of the dish but at no point did the proprietor / manager approach us to discuss or apologise for the upset (although he was the one who sat us and took our order). We promptly left and went to a bar a few doors down to have a quiet drink after that experience. After some time, the same proprietor/manager came in, interrupted our conversation rudely and abruptly and stated that the item I found in my meal was a piece of celery (with no apology or anything). He promptly turned his back to us then and ordered a pint, which he drank while sitting beside us with his back to us. At this point we were quite upset about the whole issue but we did not say anymore as his manner concerned us. We arrived back to our room at about 2am and while getting ready for bed, our bedroom door opened slowly and the same man walked in and turned around and walked out again with no explanation as to what he was doing. The doors automatically lock so he had to use a key to get in. We were both extremely upset about the whole evening at this point and I had to put a chair in front of the door for the remainder of the night as I didn’t know if he was going to come in again.
Great location, staff very friendly and the breakfast was yum. I'll def' go back.
The food was fantastic.
The food the bar the staff a home from home.
Outstanding menu. The only difficulty being choosing between the top quality steaks or the `out of this world`s` seafood. The staff were all charming and so eager to accommodate us.
No fan or coolnes to assist comfort in the very hot weather. Location at the back of the hotel noisy with delivery lorries and cars.
The restaurant was outstanding. We loved the tasting menu with wines. It was delicious and very reasonably priced. We would certainly come to eat here again. Great breakfast also. The room was very spacious and comfortable.
The only minor niggle was the antique hairdryer, which had little power and was attached to the wall, making it difficult to style hair due to lack of power and movement.
Great Staff, Very Friendly
The food and room were excellent The personal touch throughout our stay was extremely pleasant A real irish welcome.
Youghal town itself has become Really run down over the years Many premises closed no heart to hype town. If it weren't for ahernes There wouldn't be a whole lot to go to Youghal for.
Excellent fish and cooked superbly
The staff/family were so warm & welcoming .The Food was simply excellent and the room was spotless with lashings on hot water , warm towels and extra bed linen . We really loved the open fire and newspapers in the residents sitting room!
The entrance into back of the bar area is a little confusing
The staff at Ahern's were exceptionally accommodating, interesting and professional. Our suite compared favourably with accommodation at this price point.
Unable to access WiFi. We were somewhat surprised by how dated the menu was given the rave reviews but that being said food was well prepared and served- just uninteresting.
Staff were warm and friendly and the food was fantastic.
Everything, the location was great!
Like the other properties which appear in Ireland's Blue Book, this is a charming and traditional hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff go out of their way to offer a warm welcome. When they saw I was walking with a crutch they went through the rooms available to give me one which required minimal climbing. The bar is adorable and the seafood on offer in their famous restaurant is fresh and tasty.
This is a problem we have had all over Europe, in that Wifi is patchy throughout the hotel. Having said that, it wouldn't put me off.
The evening meal in the restaurant was very good. Lovely atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and should we be back in the area in the future we would definitely stay again.
At 84 years of age I personally believe that I have never tasted a breakfast better than Ahernes. Congrats to the chef!
breakfast was excellent and breakfast room is lovely;dinner good. Bedroom lovely;bathroom could do with a proper shower. Staff very pleasant
The service was fantastic. Also I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Ann who is a fantastic host, very warm and welcoming and a huge aset to the business.
I liked everything about this Hotel, from the ambience and decor of the bedrooms, lounge and pub - to the excellent food served there. The staff and owners were welcoming and very helpful. I particularly liked how there was an old world feel about the whole hotel. It was charming.
There was nothing I disliked about this hotel.
