Warm welcome, good central location, excellent staff, comfortable clean room, generous continental breakfast. We would come again if we could get a back room.
Night club opposite whose customers arrived noisily drunk at midnight and departed considerably more so at 5am. House had double glazing which helped but this and a seranading drunk on second night were appalling. Try for a back room.
Stairs ensuite to small Good bed but mattress cover was plastic very uncomfortable to sleep on
Location Dining room and breakfast.
Stairs - too many steps.
Excellent value for money especially so near the city centre
Purpose of our visit to Dublin was to see a show at the Gaiety Theatre. Albany House was a perfect walking distance to theatre. It was warm and comfortable with cozy clean beds and spotless bathroom with a shower that worked. Breakfast was adequate for us, really good value for money.
The only negative comment was the lack of wi fi and our room a tad dark.
Beautiful, old hotel. Such a pleasant stay.
The first night I was on the 5th floor with no elevator. The next day I was moved to the 1st floor. Wonderful!
Historical building, very well remodeled with all the comforts without losing character. Very close to St. Stephen's Green and the Grafton shopping area. Some earlier reviews had mentioned that the street was load, but it didn't really seem so. We were on the first floor, so right on street level and we weren't able to hear much of any noise from the clubs across the street once the window was closed. Nice bathroom with big shower and surfaces for storage.
Breakfast was crazy busy around 8-10am
The location was great, close to shops and theatres etc.Nice friendly atmosphere
All the steps to the top of the house. I was not very mobile at the time and dragging a suitcase and myself up to the top floor required some effort.
Within walking distance of most sights.
Noisy bars at night kept us awake.
The room and bed was very cozy. The place was clean and tidy. The staff was very friendly and polite. I was very happy to get glutenfree toast at breakfest. During our stay they where installing more radiatiors to make the place more warm. I saw some complains about noice from the street but it didn't bother me at all, was pretty quiet in my opinion.
The house was very cold, I was freezeing inside and outside and got a cold during my 3 day trip. You had to wait long time to get hot water from shower and the pressure was low. I emailed about the breakfast before my stay and was told it was full continental breakfast, but it was only bread, cheese, cerials, fruits and youghourt+ coffee or tee. No oatmeal, eggs or meats.
WiFi Location Clean, modern bathroom
No hot breakfast Rooms/carpets need updating
Best bed in Ireland, super firm. Nice friendly staff, good with wake-up calls & watching our luggage. Good breakfast in lovely breakfast room.
One night was apparently the night the "freshers" came to college, and they ALL lined up in the street (right below our room) at 2AM for the local nightclub -- unbelievably loud!! Hotel was full, so we could not move to the rear for the remaining nights, but the noise was much less for those remaining nights. Travel light, because there is no lift and it's a long ways up.
the young male receptionist was really nice & helpful loved my room very quiet very clean great breakfast choice
not as central as my usual choice of hotels but still good the hot water in the shower takes a long time to run hot enough for a shower which is a waste
Having to climb three floor to my room
We stayed for 4 nights at the end of a month long Irish golfing holiday. After reading some travellers' reviews we emailed a request for a room on a lower floor and away from the street. We were given a suite on the ground floor at the rear of the hotel. It was spacious, comfortable and quiet and exceeded our expectations. The staff were very helpful in providing blankets to replace the duvet and allowing a late checkout.
The continental breakfast was only just adequate.
Fantastic location within a very short distance of the city centre, also lots of restaurants and bars nearby. I found the staff friendly and helpful staff. Only stayed here for one night for business, but will certainly consider staying at this hotel again if I go back to Dublin for a holiday.
Being very picky but would have been useful if I could have used my wifi on my laptop as well as my phone. This wouldn't normally bother me at all if I wasn't on business!
Location Large room Comfy king-sized bed Good continental breakfast, including fresh fruit, cheeses, toast, cereals - with friendly, attentive serving staff
Room was on ground floor facing the street which was noisy, especially late at night (2 to 3 a.m.) despite being early in the week (Sunday to Tuesday nights) - young people leaving night club located across the street
Location, Location, location
A bit noisy - staff banging around at 8am in Sat morning!
The girl on reception was very friendly. The dinningroom staff was also very good. Rooms were cean and comfortable.
I basically loved everything about this hotel, the hotel staff are warm & friendly & it translates into a home away from home sort of feeling.
There aren't any lifts. Breakfast is repetitive, no variation
The bed was very comfortable. Proximity to the centre of town. Spacious room with chairs & table to sit at. Storage space.
Proximity to night club. Front rooms very noisy from revellers leaving club at 3 & 4am on all nights, Sun to Wed. Ineffectual shower.
Located in a very loud neighborhood. The hotel is a dump. The bathroom was full of hair and when I told reception they did nothing. The room was old and smelly
Comfortable traditional style hotel with friendly staff and good breakfast. Convenient location.
Street noise - opposite late night beer garden and near other night clubs. Tram runs directly past the front of the hotel.
Love the location and it's proximity to all that I wanted to see and do!
Did not like being located in the basement room. Next time I stay, and there will be a next time, I will simply request not to be located in the basement. It was only for one night so I didn't feel it was overly important to change rooms as it was comfortable.
Well maintained hotel just seconds from St. Stephens Green. Very helpful front desk staff. Promptly arranged taxis and offered advice on travel. Nice selection of cheeses and fresh French press coffee at Breakfast. Only negative I have for the hotel is there is that a trolley that runs up & down Harcourt St. The rooms (#18-#20) on the ground level in the front of the hotel are affected by the noise and rumbling of the trolley.
