The hotel is in a good location and resturant has good menu for evening meals. The Hotel is quite dated and they have not spent much on repairs and maintenace of late. The lining in the curtains in our bedroom were ripped/poor quality repairs in the bathroom and general feel in resturant and other parts of the hotel that they have done enough to get by rather then repairing properly. I don't feel that it is 4 star rated.

Friendly, relaxing, comfortable olde world ambience, good food. Located on a steep incline, about a twenty minute walk from the city centre. A taxi or bus a definite for the weary traveller!

Friendly staff, free car park, room was clean, bed was comfortable. The hotel was so big, we had to get two lifts to our room. Good location but wouldn't walk into the city at night, was unsure of the surrounding area.

Friendliness of the staff. Room facilities, plenty of hot water. Rooms were large and reasonably comfortable but very high ceilings meant the room was a bit on the cold side due to inadequate heating

Liked the charm of the hotel. The staff were extremely helpful, polite and friendly. Had a problem with heat in our room on both nights and though we were offered to move rooms on the second night we declined. However the Manager brought us a heater and also complimentary Irish Coffees and cookies which was absolutely grand. Really enjoyed our stay and will come back again. The meal in the restaurant was top class and breakfast was excellent too.

The bedroom was a good size, able to have room to move around. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was large and the shower worked well. The furntiure was a little outdated but clean. The halllway smelled musty but the room was fresh smelling. The hotel is old and it took 2 lifts to get to our room but it was very quiet. The front staff was a bit short with us at check-in.Was not very forth coming with extra info in regrads to our erservation and possible breakfast teh following morning then, in asking for an extra towel she stated that we had 2 towels and would not listen to a request of extra towels. The next day the person at the desk was much nicer. There was one staff person in the restaurant that would not explain the menyu, but ohters made up for her. Overall the food for breakfast was good.

The friendliness of the Receptionist when we discovered our booking had not been forwarded by Bookings.com (booking number 995.645.228), and the hotel was full. She managed to upgrade us to superior rooms. We had 3 rooms booked, and there was a notice of a 50€ fine if a room was smoked in. We noticed a smell of smoke from one of these non-smoking rooms when we checked in, and I informed the Receptionist.

The huge rooms, very good breakfasts, the fact that it was a well used venue on the slowest weekend of the year i.e. the first weekend after the New Year It was a very cold weekend and the steps needed to be gritted but that could be applied to everywhere in Cork

The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Our room was at the front of the building with a balcony and fantastic view over Cork City. The room was spacious, comfortable and extremely clean. There was a great selection for breakfast with staff very eager to serve. We used the spa facilities and found them to be satisfactory, extra towels and locker facilities were available. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay and we were extremely impressed with the front of house staff who were more than happy to not only help but just have a chat and go that extra mile.

The Ambassador Hotel is quite centrally located to Cork City centre. To walk from the Hotel to Cork City Centre takes about 15 minutes for the reasonably fit. Bear in mind however, that the return trip can be challenging as the return leg is a steep uphill journey. However, the hotel is located close to the city bus service and taxis are readily available, The Hotel has great character, is very comfortable and warm with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The food is great and good value for money. The beds are super! There is ample car parking available. Rooms to the front have their own balcony with wonderful views of Cork City. I would highly recommend this hotel and we will certainly return on our next visit to Cork.

We felt very welcome in this Hotel. The staff was very nice and friendly and the rooms are amazing. It' s an old building but all facilities are up to date so that a romantic impression evolves but with modern facilities eased up. Also the view over the city by night is stunning. Definitely we will book there again and recommend this to friends and family.

Spacious & Warm Room, Comfortable bed, Value for money! 1) I requested milk for tea from Hotel Service which took 20 minutes to arrive. The Service staff forgot to keep milk when the room was setup earlier. 2) There was some party (I was told it was Christmas Party) on Saturday 10th Dec 2011 which went up to 2am. It was just hard to go to sleep due to noise level. Rooms could have been better sound proof.

Pleasant, helpful, cooperative, responsive staff. Spacious, well- appointed, comfortable room in the new section. Can walk into the middle of Cork and its pedestrian shopping centre. Free parking available on hotel site or on the street outside. Free WiFi for Internet connection. The soundproofing of our particular room in the new section was not very good, especially from festivities in the function rooms in the original building and the noises of people and vehicles in the parking lot. This was mainly due to an air vent in the window frame which did not seal shut and so connected the interior of the room with activities going on outside. A (quieter) room at the far end of the original building needed superficial renovation such as repainting. One could feel a draft of cold air coming from around the windows; the hotel provided us with a room fan heater which resolved the situation. The WiFi signal did not work in the room but did in the corridor outside the room. Both rooms needed an ordinary chair at the desk so that one could comfortably write and use a laptop computer.

Our stay in this hotel was fantastic throughout, from reception to restaurant staff, from bar to cleaning staff the service was top notch. Great value for money for a one night stay in a double room with breakfast included was one of the main reasons I chose this hotel.
