We didn't expect the "township" to be so far away from the pier. We were lucky enough to get off the ferry with a local and he drove us the considerable way into the B and B area. No accommodation is close so we suggest you make arrangements with your B and B for a pick up or to arrange the taxi for you. It is a very long walk otherwise.
The owners are very very hospitable, welcoming and friendly. The island is a very special place, very isolated and you can certainly get away on your own. Walking shoes needed as you can do a lot of that. There is so much to see. The only pub on the island is a must, go back about 90 years when you step through the door. We highly recommend this B and B, they have a restaurant attached and food is all organic and home cooked. We loved the place.
