Score from 106 reviews Exceptional
Clifden is a good location to explore Connemara. The Arch Guesthouse appears a bit run-down (the towels have defininitely seen better days), but our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. There was a lot of fresh fruit for breakfast.
The Irish breakfast didn't taste very good (we had better in other b&bs). The staff was friendly but unfortunately he didn't know anything about the area and as the Tourist Information is closed at this time of the year, it was difficult to get tips for walks etc. All in all the guesthouse was a bit expensive for what was on offer.
Location, cleanliness, comfort
I've stayed here twice already and I'll definitely stay here anytime I'm ever up in clifden, location is just perfect!
Very friendly reception and excellent service
The room was clean and well-maintained. The building is set back from the street and entered by a private alley. A courtyard with seating offers a place relax. Daily room service was excellent. We didn't order breakfast, but it seemed like a great deal for 5 euros.
Narrow noisy staircase and hallway. Fine until a whole group is using it.
Location excellent,clean,very good breakfast.
A very comfortable B&B though we only had bed there. Very friendly staff.
Great location,comfortable beds.v clean.staff very helpful.
Very friendly and accomadating. Excellent location.
Location is excellent. Super clean
Comfortable firm bed
Friendly guesthouse set in an ideal location. The room while very basic was clean and comfortable and provided a good nights sleep. No lift that I could see so if you have heavy bags you will have to haul them upstairs.good value for money.
very helpful staff and thankfully a quiet position set back from the bustling main street through an Arch but very central. Good buffet breakfast. Pleasant comfortable room. Good local sportswear shop where we replace a worn out rucksack.
Trying to find a parking place nearby.
We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay here. Beautiful room, excellent staff, great location and delicious food! Will definitely be coming again.
The location was perfect.
No parking, decor and facilities need updating, breakfast wasn't great, staff weren't very friendly when we initially arrived.
Nice room, clean towels every morning, tasty irish breakfast and a good choice at buffet as well. Near to mostra services, pubs and bar restaurant in Clifden
A bit slow WiFi connection bit nothing important
perfect location..the equipment was really good and so comfy
people was not very friendly
Very central to Clifden, but quiet as down a little alley to it. Lovely room, two double beds! V comfortable and fruit with breakfast!
(1) Really excellent location. Parking is on street and costs 1 euro per hour, but only from 11.30 am to 6.00 pm, so not at all for tourists who are off on the road at those times. (2) Staff were very pleasant and helpful (so ignore some of the other comments about surly staff). (3) Price was pretty reasonable.
(1) Room was a reasonable size but there was an extra bed, so the room felt a bit small. (2) Toiletries were pretty mimimal. (3) Walls were pretty thin; we had one disturbed night when people came in at 3.30am and talked loudly for a while. (4) Bedrooms are on three floors (above the ground floor) and there is no lift; this didn't bother us but it might inconvenience some people.
Tea facilities in the room
Room was cold
Clean Great location
The host had no personality
Great location. Good breakfast. Free wifi with good signal. Quiet rooms.
Nice welcome by staff
Didn't like having to pay for the breakfast.
No fuss and simple clean and very central
Location & breakfast
Weather was brutal. No fast food restaurants open after 11pm in Clifden. World Cup was on and match wasn't over until after midnight. I was shocked that town of this size had no late night dining opportunities.
