The Ocean Crest B&B has excellent accommodations with breakfast included and an apartment in Salthill. It offers panoramic views of Galway Bay, within a 20-minute walk of the center of the city.
Score from 539 reviews Very good
the comfort of the room and location
neighbour banging on wall because my wife decided to have a shower late very disrespectfull
The room itself was spacious and had a good sized bathroom.
Two things that we would complain about: 1. the lighting in our room; it was very dull both light and lamp and one could not read by it. 2. We thought the breakfast was included in the price; it needs to be shown clearly on booking.
We liked the location and the spaciousness of the room. We were three adults and we had three beds and lots of space to store our stuff and move around. We also liked that it was near the Promenade and only a short car ride to the center of Galway !! Breakfast was wonderful.
It was in a lovely location for kicking the wall at Salthill Prom. It met my expectations for the price I paid. Would stay there again
Good location Spacious room Very friendly and helpful staff Good continental breakfast (fry a small bit extra) Good facilities Good parking Comfortable beds Lovely quiet room
Some of the pillowcases didn't look too clean
very comfortable, staff friendly and efficient
They were friendly and solve the requirements. My guess is that the demand in the area surplus the supply, so a mid-range service is good enough to keep the B&B wth guests.. Overall it was ok, but I will try somewhere else next time.
some appliances didn´t work righ (eg. some lapms were burned and not changed) and we found that from the 4 beds we had, 1 was great to sleep in, then other 2 were ok, and 1 was horrible -you could feel the metal springs in your body. So there was no consistency, standards or principles applied to the management of this hotel.
The continental breakfast was excellent as it had a wide range of items. If you paid, you got eggs etc. but the conti menu was good and so was the fresh coffee. The morning breakfast helper was very polite and understanding.
1) the landlord was never there for three full days and nights. I sent him emails and text messages. He claims afterwards that some friend's mother had died. That is no excuse for not responding to my urgent plea for help on some issue. 2) breakfast was at 8.30 am which for a tourist is late as tours start early. Luckily the last day, the daily help understood the needs of a young couple and myself and served us at 7.45 am. 3) the location. Terrible. Impossible to get to without a car. The bus service stops by 9 pm. The bus stop is far and its a long walk with bags. Takes atleast 45 minutes to reach from town centre. BIG DRAWBACK. 4) no internet in the room. With some luck,it worked at times in the dining room, at times. Was it intentional? I don't know. We did not have internet until we complained! 5) bathroom light was too dim. Damn difficult to see anything. 6) no table in the room and no space to put any personal items.
A lovely house, spacious room, close to the beach and riding stables, helpful staff. Rooms daily cleaned and comfortable.
Far from the centre; breakfast was - well, nice breakfast, but not the one to remember for a week. Wi-fi a bit tricky: ipad got hold of it in the hall and then tugged it into the room. Once lost, it had to be re-caught in the hall again. Rooms not exactly dirty, but there were some stains on the carpets.
Small rooms and very hot .
The place was spotless, staff very helpful and pleasant and breakfast was lovely.
There was very little hot water for shower,if travelling in a group only 2 people get to shower and the waters gone cold .
Very friendly staff.
It had potential, but it was not as clean as expected.
Cooked breakfast was nice.
Bed sheets were dirty. Had a bad nights sleep as bed wasn't very comfortable. Not a huge selection for breakfast. Some of staff were a little rude.
Missing shower door cleanliness of tiles Marks on quilt cover Staircase noise as other guests used them
Excellent location in Salthill. Good value for money
Shower was cold. Poached eggs were done in the micorwave
rather far away from city center; the room we had (family room) was somewhat dark and dull;
They charged my card for more then double the agreed booking amount. I have multiple charges with no contact, file grievance with bank and bookings.com
beautiful room host pleasant helpful and easy to get on with yummy breakfast
it was all good
noise coming from hen party
The Continental breakfast which had a wide range of breads, cheese and other items. The lady serving was most helpful.
1. The owner Padraic was NEVER there. There was no one there most of the time. After giving me the keys, Padraic did not respond to any tel calls or emails. This is totally irresponsible for a B&B owner. 2. Whilst he kept within the B&B regs on basic requirements, the quality was terrible. TV remote did not work and awful TV visual reception. The bathroom sink water spout was fancy but gave hardly any water. The shower took ages to give hot water. There was no table in the room. The chair was right under the sloping roof of the room so it could not be used. 3. Internet was as good as non existent. First day, the German couple and i did not get it at all in rooms. Next day, i think Padraic switched it on when more guests came but evening WiFi went. Basically one needed to be in dining area to get connection. 4. Checkin time of 3 pm was to suit his cleaner timings. Breakfast began at 8.30 which meant you choose between breakfast or a tour. Luckily the breakfast lady was more understanding and gave breakfast to the Germans and me this morning earlier at 7.45 am. 5. Most important, the B&B is FAR from anywhere. The local bus 402 drops u at end of street, long walk, the late evening bus do not stop near the house, they leave you on the main Salthill road. You waste over 35 mins to get there by bus and this is not counting waiting time as bus leaves every half hour only. Last bus is 9 pm! AVOID this place. Taxi costs € 13 from city centre. 6. To quote the owner, when i commented on his fancy wristwatch, he said, "its style without any substance"! How true.
Great Hospitality Clean rooms Quiet street
Quiet location. The owner was helpful with advice
Street was not well sign-posted
Very nice clean BB friendly host and staff
