On the edge of beautiful, scenic Connemara and with magnificent sea views over Ardbear Bay, this charming hotel offers individually decorated en suite rooms and a superb award-winning restaurant.

The Ardagh Hotel & Restaurant is located on the constantly changing Ardbear Bay, 2 miles (3.2 km) from the lively town of Clifden, known as the Capital of Connemara.

Each of the well-appointed en suite rooms has its own unique charm and some overlook the bay.

With spectacular sea views, the restaurant has received 2 AA Rosettes and specialises in lobster and locally caught seafood, with the menu changing daily to reflect the freshest seasonal produce available.

The hotel also has a snooker room, a well-stocked bar and 3 charming and comfortable lounges, one with an open turf fire. There is also a sun lounge with stunning views.

Guests in October 2009 enjoy discounted rates at the nearby Connemara championship golf course.

Our restaurant, situated on the first floor, has been the recipient of many accolades from the AA (2 Rosettes) and 3 RAC Restaurant Awards. With its magnificent sea views and spectacular sunsets, it has a bright modern atmosphere and is personally supervised by owner-chef Stephane and Monique Bauvet.

The restaurant specialises in lobster from our own sea tank, locally caught seafood, salt lake oysters, prime meats and home-grown vegetables. Our menu is changed daily as fresh produce is used at all times. Great attention to detail, complimented by an extensive wine list, makes dining here an unforgettable culinary experience.

Connemara is truly a wonder for outdoor activities, from some of the finest trout and salmon fishing to some shark fishing at sea, which makes for an unforgettable day.

If that’s a bit more adventure than you care for, then why not try 18 holes of golf at the Connemara Golf Club to keep that swing in shape!

For those of you who find the wilds of Connemara calling to you, it is a perfect place for some hill, bog and mountain walking. Island trips are also available and all activities can be organised through the hotel.

The Connemara National Park has a wealth of information on Connemara, while Kylemore Abbey and its famous Gothic Church are a must-see during your visit. The site where Alcock and Brown landed after their first transatlantic crossing is also essential. These are only a few of the places and activities for you to see and do.
