Ardagh Hotel & Restaurant  

We recently stayed in the Ardagh Hotel for 3 nights, it was the perfect get a way with gorgeous food , lovely views , lovely open fires & fabulous staff. I would definitely recommend this hotel & we are looking forward to returning again very very soon.

There was absolutely nothing to dislike about the Ardagh Hotel.

The room, staff and location were great. Very friendly people and the view was great.

I must have made a mistake while making the reservations as a had intended to book a room with breakfast. It did not happen and I felt 15 euro per person was too much as the breakfast was one of the weakest.

Their attention to detail, their friendly staff, the food including use of home grown vegetables was very impressive.treir breakfast was freshly cooked to order not sitting in a Bain Marie like most other places we visited.we would certainty recommend it and would visit it again.

This is a family run hotel with a very nice atmosphere. The food is exceptional and the service superb.

I really liked it. They should however be prouder of their hotel and put pictures of the actual hotel on their website. Only photo's I could easily see where of the countryside. However as I needed one near Cliften I booked it, but was a little worried till I actually saw it. Its beautiful and the outside coffee tables, were a joy to look at, and would look like a very welcomed hotel is photographed.

The restaurant was a bit expensive to feed our 14 year old boy in!! Would have like a cheaper option for him, as he prefers plainer food at present.

Ardagh is in a really pretty place overlooking a bay in the beautiful countryside just outside Clifden. The views from the restaurant & front rooms are stunning. I loved the chilled lounges with the candles, turf fire & mood music & the fish dishes in the restaurant were delicious. There is a really personal touch to this small hotel & the owners are very helpful. I definitely recommend it is a chilled, small, friendly place, worth staying in.

It was a little chilly (end July!) but they kindly put a heater (without us asking) in the room on the second night. A little noisy with kids.

Its a glorified guest house i dont know how it got its three stars.The bedrooms are very basic the tv is very old and didnt work properly , the bathroom very stuffy no ventilation, the bed very lumpy, the kettle in the room very old and shabby looking. This hotel is too expensive @ 109.00 euro without breakfast if we had breakfast it would have been an extra 15.00 euro each.

the floor of the shower was wet on arrival and the carpet outside the bathroom was very wet.-room had a slighty damp air to it.

The food was really excellent. We had a couple of children with us and the chef cooked a meal especially for them, which they loved. The service was great and the staff did everything they could to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable.

They allowed us to bring our dog and where extremely accommodating.

The Ardagh Hotel is perfectly situated just outside the town of Clifden in County Connemara, Ireland. The Hotel is situated along the coast with an exquisite view of the bay, the sunsets are spectacular! My husband and I had a very comfortable room (king size bed and a large living room area) with this view of the water. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and hospitable. There are several lounge areas that afford something for every mood. The largest one has a full bar, fire place and handsomely upholstered lounging chairs and sofas. Our first evening there, after a day of traveling, we went in for a drink. Our waitress brings over our drinks and starts a very engaging conversation that leads into the dinner menu, which she had a thorough knowledge of. The Ardagh Hotel has an excellent restaurant. We had some of the best meals (this includes the delicious breakfasts, too!) of our 3 week stay in Ireland! They have an accomplished chef who uses locally sourced ingredients, including vegetables from their own garden! Everything was wonderful and beautifully presented. The owners take pride, as well they should, in the all inclusiveness of their Hotel and restaurant. I can't see staying anywhere else while in the area!

Staff molto indisponente,troppo caro per il servizio offerto,camera vecchia e dalla doccia usciva acqua marroncina,da sconsigliare!

La chambre spacieuse et décorée avec goût. L'impression de luxe sans trop en faire. Le salon de détente commun très "british". L'accès wifi gratuit. Le calme. La vue sur la baie depuis la salle de restaurant. Le gérant francophone (et chaleureux).

La chambre était humide et il faisait un peu froid (mi juin, par 15°c dehors !). La télé minuscule (mais sur laquelle on peut brancher un disque dur ou une clé usb pour visualiser ses photos, etc...).

Trés bon accueil. On prend en charge vos bagages. Le patron est francophone et c'est le grand restaurant gastronomique du secteur. La mer est à 20 mètres.

Bel établissement, bien situé à 5 min de clfiden et au bord d'une magnifique baie. Personnel très acceuillant et chambres spacieuses

One member of staff, Sydney, who understood customer relations, and though the (extremely over-priced) room was not what we booked, she dealt with our complaint politely, helpfully and extremely well, and promised to move us into another room the next day, but the owner refused and said the hotel was full, although we found it listed on bookings.com for that day. I was too traumatised by the reception I got from the owner to go and complain again and didn't want to ruin my weekend. Where to start, the only good thing I can say about it was the location really, plus ONE member of staff (Sydney). READ the other bad reviews - that was our experience. The triple room we booked (for two people at an extraordinary cost for a three star hotel (268 Euros for two nights). was very poky indeed, and the bathroom was out of the 1970s, like the rest of the hotel.The shower didn't provide hot water for at least 25 minutes and as they'd forgotten to give us an info pack until the second day, dialling what I hoped was reception didn't work....as I hadn't been given the correct number. I had written previously to say we were vegetarians and MIGHT want breakfast, thought we should let them know. Two or more days later received no personal response at all, but a bookings.com file saying "we have noted the change to your booking" (there was NO change, only a question, to which no reply came) The vegetarian breakfast we ordered wasn't brought, rather an omelette which we hadn't ordered (after the waitress went away for 10 minutes and then came back to ask if we ate eggs!). We had ordered a vegetarian Irish breakfast....which eventually arrived - two raw cocktail tomatoes (other guests got a huge breakfast and the tomatoes were grilled, or so the menu suggested), a fried egg and a few mushrooms. At least thanks to Sydney, we didn't have to pay for this, but a hotel with a so-called reputation for it's food should be ashamed to serve vegetarians such disappointing fare.

Very comfortable, very welcoming. Lovely that they had the fires on, it is fabulous looking out over the Lough. It is a bit dated in decor in places but in some ways that adds to the comfort.

The walls are too thin - I had students across the hall and when they were in the hall it sounded like they were in the room.

The view is nice facing the ocean. The male staff when we arrive was accomodating.

The room was very cold. Heating was turned off overnight. It says that it's a non-smoking hotel, but the hallway smells cigarette and the toilet too. Will never go back!
