the staff-very helpful, he stayed up till 1 am to wait for us the area the house cleaning
in the first night was a little bit cold the bed - the mattress wasn't so comfortable the bath - need serious improvements
Right next to bus stop from airport and towards city centre; Staff is very helpful; The place is tidy and clean; Various restaurants and other shops are situated very close by; Not disappointed since I was not expecting more than this.
Nothing as the facilities available were as described online.
I did NOT like the tiny room next to the street, tiny shower, the bright spot lights from the outside while trying to sleep (there were no shades to block the outside light), the loud traffic and sirens (horrible), the broken window shade, the location, the value for the money paid.
Very Nice owner and very comfortable bed and bedroom. Breakfast was really good.
Had to take a bus to the city center. They run very often and don't take long though
Clean. Good position in the middle among city and airport. To get to city center few bus stop, 30 min walking time.
I've been moved to another property nearby, as they stated I wasn't having breakfast. House was mainly with no other people inside. Room spacious, bathroom tiny. No heaters were on so during nights was cold. Minimal and old furniture.
If you need an affordable, decent, place to stay near the airport then I recommend Ashling House. The staff was kind and were willing to work with me arriving late. The rooms are accommodating for solo travel.
The rooms are very small and hard to move around in. I was charged for breakfast both days but never received any breakfast- it was cancelled the second day I stayed and I was never refunded for it. The rooms are relatively clean but I found a good amount of hair on the throw pillows. Gross!
Room was ok if it was cheaper, bed linen was clean, shower was ok,clean towels
Too expensive,95 euros for bed, breakfast booked seperately for another 7 euros.....never heard of this in a b + b ??? felt ripped off because they knew poker tournament was on nearby and rooms were scarce, also continental breakfast maybe ok for some, not for me,no bacon,sausage......boiled egg was the option, left feeling dissapointed, wont be returning, thought when booking for that money room would be bigger and proper "irish" breakfast would be served
Water took ags to heat up, and there was a young teenage boy managing the place who was not helpful
Friendly, personable service
Very busy street and not enough parking.
Close to city Bus right at the door step Tea and tea making facilities Close to eateries Helpful owner provided information requested Keeps tourist brochures
Double bed in room was sagging.
Exceptionally clean very friendly
the staff made a very greedy impression on me, they went from unintelligible mumbling to mostly ignoring me once they had my money, only knocking on the door several times per day to ask if I wanted the room cleaned. The room was also between the kitchen and the rear entrance, with a washing machine against the outer wall, which meant a lot of noise. There was no way to cover the toilet/shower room window, which was at eye-height from outside.
Big room. WiFi is great.
We did not know that there was a heater in the cupboard, which is why the room was to cold for us.
Location and advice
Lovely B&B in good area of Dublin City Suburbs. Breakfast (added) good and plentiful. Owners very friendly and go out of way to help anyway they can. Chose double room as away 5 weeks from Australia - good choise. Slept well. Bought 3 day pass from Miceal at Ashling House - saw a lot of Dublin in that time. Close to shops and local pub (Music 11pm at night -great). Felt safe at night to walk to pub close bye. Jan
The man on duty when I arrived was very friendly and helpful General cleanliness
Small room Pokey shower Tiny basin Old decor Old furniture Breakfast Price
Very expensive at €70 a night, breakfast not included in the price. Breakfast is available for €7,a ripoff.
The staff were always at hand for any queries and very friendly. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Good choice of food at breakfast and the boilled eggs were superb! Excellent location for commute into Dublin via bus or car. I had no difficulties getting parked outside the b&b. Lovely places to eat, such as the cheese pantry, just a short walk away. I would stay here again.
If you inform yourself about the traffic system in Dublin before your journey, you will easily find the B&B in the Drumcondra Street Upper. There a some lines stopping directly in front of the Ashling House, for example line 13, 44 and 41. The last one, 41, is the line driving to Dublin Airport also and it takes around 30 minutes. If you go to the city it takes around 15 minutes, depending on the traffic and road works. Entering the B&B Mikael welcomed us and his wife showed our room. It was not to big, but fine for placing two bags. We were happy, that we had a cheap place to stay, but we need to say, that we have been in town most of the time and just used the B&B as a B&B :) Mikaels wife offered us a 3-day-busticket for 30 EUR. It's really helpful, cause actually you need to pay on the bus. On top of that it is also valid for the HopOn-HopOff- Tours, which I would definitely recommend. One thing you should know: The bus drivers are driving little bit crazy. If you are walking in the city, mind the busses, they are going fast and sometimes you don't now where they turn next. And if you have thought about renting bikes... I would not recommend that. Just take a look at the traffic one time down at O'Connell Street and you will take the Bus or go by foot. :)
Even though the bathroom was fine and the shower had enough space for taller guys also, the basin was to small for anything. We had problems to brush our teeth... Besides, the breakfast room was little to small for all the B&B guests. There are around 20 seats available, but one morning we had to wait for a free table. The breakfast for itself was fine. If you want to have some eggs in different variations, just ask Mikaels wife :)
Comfortable and clean. Good communication on bus passes into town. Very accessible place to stay within a 10 min bus ride to City ....
Self service breakfast. Soft boiled eggs were undercooked. No shower gel on the last morning.
location, bedroom size, cleanliness
Cost, traffic noise, small bathroom size
Very impersonal met the guy that owned the place once he was very blunt
My room was obviously a bathroom-so I had a toilet/shower and a bed in one tiny space with two doors and tiles on the floor. The shower dripped all night. The room had no number on it so obviously a last minute money spinner. When I spoke to the manager re having never paid to stay in a toilet before he said that no one else had complained and I then realised why he pushed for payment on my arrival before I had seen the room-which is not common practice
Extremely Friendly Staff Cleanliness Secure Room lighting Breakfast food quality although would like a cooked option
WiFi sometimes didn't work well on upper levels. No option for cooked breakfast Room location at front of house was noisy due to traffic
Good location, fair room and great staff! I would recommend staying here!
