Treat yourself and dine in the hotels restaurant, at least once during your stay. In terms of quality of ingredients, presentation and value for money, this makes most of Dublin's, so called "fine dining" restaurants, look like the rip-off joints, some of them certainly are. Perhaps the wine list could be expanded a little more, but still offers enough choice to suit most preferences. The icing on the cake is the restaurants staff, who could not be more professional, friendly and helpful. They all went out of their way to make it a really enjoyable experience, with special mention for the young waiter from Mauritus. I have dined in most of Dublin's top restaurants, and the Ashling is worthy of comparison with most of them, that is how highly I rate it. Overall this is an excellent hotel. The only minor problems I found, were that the shower needed a shelf where shampoo/ soap could be placed when using it. Also the room was a bit too warm for comfort.

We liked almost all - the rooms are very beautiful, clean, spacious. The view over the city is fantstic! Luxurious bathroom & giant bed. Each room has its own air conditioner, so you can enjoy temperature you like. Very tasty restaurant! But a bit expensive. The staff - perfect, as it should be. Good location - 3 minutes walk to the history museum & 5-7 to guiness storehouse. A bus & train stop are near too. If you return late at night the taxi from temple bar would cost you 6-7 euros. And we felt very safe at the hotel thanks to good security system - no strangers can enter there. Really nothing!

Ashling hotel is superb in terms value for money, location and facilities provided. The staff was outstanding, friendly and very helpful, the food provided can only be described as amazing. I have never eaten so much in one sitting . The breakfast provided is the largest selection of products I have ever seen - covering allergies eg soya milk, continental and international cold and hot food.

This may be the best hotel bargain in all of Europe. It's spotless, and the rates are great!! Our twin room was as spacious and as modern as any American room, with a great view of the park across the street. From the doorman, to the desk clerks, to the restaurant waiter we had both nights of our stay, every member of the staff is wonderful. I chose this hotel because it's just across the street from Heuston Station, but it's really close to everything worthwhile. The HOHO bus stops at the park. The tram stops at the station and will take you nearly anywhere in the city ... Temple Bar is minutes away. While there are a couple of great pubs in the next block, the hotel restaurant is top-notch with excellent food, atmosphere and service. And get this ... they have a left-luggage service for guests where they'll hold your stuff for WEEKS at no charge, if you want to ride the rails around the country. Should be rated 4.5 stars.

I picked this hotel based on the location, the price and the reviews. I wanted somewhere just out from Dublin city centre, but still close to visit. The price was reduced at short notice, and was good for what we got. Easy parking, room was great, clean and fresh - although smell of smoke at first, and noticed a shower cap fitted over the smoke detector. The staff really let it down though. We read reviews praising the fine dining but it was far from a fine experience. Very unprofessional. The waitress asked us to sit on a couch for a few mins, handed menus and told us the specials, even though we made a prior reservation, (and there were plenty of free tables), then she skipped us and brought others to their tables. We made no fuss of this, and after a few mins a waiter brought us to our table. When asked this waiter about the wine menu he simply shrugged and told us what the 'other table ordered', didn't bring out the wine until I reminded him when he was delivering the dinner. Even with plenty of free tables in the dining area, they seated us next to the waiter's register, as he placed trays and jugs behind us on the wooden panels, but ignored us when trying to get his attention. And they weren't too busy as we saw them chatting and laughing quite a bit. Food was mediocre at best, good chowder but fish was flavourless. We were allowed to take wine to our room afterwards. At check-out, again a very brusque receptionist who didn't validate my parking until I asked. Overall disappointing experience due to the staff. The overall dining experience. Staff were unnecessarily rude, mindless, even hostile. Comfortable place to stay but avoid the staff - go in to town for dining, there's far better there.

The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was lovely, and there was a huge variety of hot/cold buffet style foods. Bedrooms were very spacious & comfortable. There was only one small comment about parking. We were charged £8.00 per day to use hotel car park, which we had to use because of the location of the hotel.

The location is excellent near Heuston Station for airport buses, trams and bus tours. The hotel is in good order and appears well run. Breakfasts are excellent. Restaurant food reasonable, and has a nice bar which offers food. Busy hotel and has a buzz about it. Maybe a little more clothes hanging space would be good. Otherwise nothing to dislike.

I particularly like staying at the Ashling, This is not my first visit, and I hope not my last. The rooms are excellent, the restaurant is very nice and the staff friendly. I ordered the venison for my evening meal. Venison is a particular favourite of mine, as is wild boar amongst other wild game. I cook venison at least four to five times a year. The meal was well presented and hot. However, I'm sorry to say the venison was very tuff, but the rest of the fare was fine.
