With views of the Suir River, the Athenaeum House Hotel is just 1.5 miles from central Waterford. It offers a restaurant, rooms with satellite TV and free parking. The rooms at this boutique hotel have CD players, internet access and ironing equipment. They include tea/coffee making facilities and some rooms have city views. Zaks Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and has an Irish and continental menu. There is a wide selection of wines and champagnes available from the hotels cellar. Waterford Train Station is a 15-minute walk from the Athenaeum House Hotel. Waterford has an excellent array of shops, bars and restaurants. Very pleasent restaurant- at 25 euros for 3 courses good value(for Ireland)Had to change room- mainly because they gave a double bed instead of a twin. The first room needed some updating - but acceptable. Like most Hotels the decor was wanting-although it was being decoracted on the exterior when we arrived

It was cheap for a 4 star hotel and it was only a 5 minute taxi ride to waterford city center. The food at the hotel was expensive though so we went to restaurants nearer the city.

The location is lovely, a rural setting, outside Waterford City with easy access to all amenities. It overlooks the river, it is spacious and away from busy roads, but very easy to find. All the staff were very professional and discrete. The parking facilities are limited and when there is a function you may need to park on the road. It is a country house hotel which is a little tired and needs updating. When people congregate on the terrace [for a cigarette] it is very noisey if your bedroom overlooks this area, and can disturb your sleep if you have an early night.

Die Mitarbeiter waren durchweg freundlich, so wie man es für ein Haus dieser Kategorie erwartet. Das Frühstück war gut und bei einem individuellen Wunsch sehr ansprechend zubereitet. Auch ein Dinner bei Live-Musik erfüllte unsere Erwartungen. Das Zimmer war sauber und es gab keinen Anlass zu Kritik. Das Hotel war bei der Anreise trotz Navigationssystem anhand der vorhandenen Hoteldaten sehr schwer zu finden. Auskunft am Ort konnte man nicht erhalten. Eine detaillierte Anfahrtsbeschreibung wäre hilfreich. Wir haben das Hotel als Zwischenstop bei einer Rundreise genutzt, für einen längeren Aufenthalt würden uns spezifische örtliche Sehenswürdigkeiten oder Freizeitangebote fehlen.

Unglaubliche Freundlichkeit, toller Service, rund herum ein Wohlfühlhotel, das zwar ein wenig außerhalb ist aber sehr romantisch liegt mit einem wunderschönen Garten und einer tollen Terasse auf der man auch an schönen Tagen frühstücken und essen kann. Es liegt ruhig aber doch nicht zuweit abseits sodass man auch das "Städtchen" und die kulinarischen Angebote (die es tatsächlicht gibt) mit Hilfe des Personals (Wegbeschreibung, Tischbestellung etc.) ohne Probleme erreichen kann. Sollten wir wieder in dieser Gegend sein werden wir sicherlich auch dort wieder übernachten.
