It was cool. Meet nice people. I was getting a flight the next morning so it was perfect
great location and nice cafe to front of hostel and decent storage facilities for personal valuables to rear (but strange numbering system for lockers)
rather too many steps on each level which i didnt like as i needed to go up and down two from the lift to the room and go down another flight just to get to the bathroom - i am able bodied but it seemed a lot to me - toilet and bathrooms facilities were rather minimalist
It was really close to the bus station where the Aircoach stops and the entire hostel has a good vibe. The staff was friendly and we were lucky to get quiet & cool roommates!
The tablets from the reception area aren't the most reliable ones.
Closeness to shopping areas of the South City
It would have helped the noise levels (at 0330) if the fire door to the corridor my room was situated, was shut - even though I closed it others kept opening it - and it was a Fire Door with magnet closure.
If you are looking for a cheap decent central place to stay - you are right here. If you're looking for something cosy and very pleasant - you're not. + breakfast simple, but OK. The option to buy something in the cafe is great! + price and location
- bit smelly - not really warm shower - could be cleaner (bed and room)
Rude unhelpful staff, horrible smelly place, with drunks lurking outside the premises, drinking cans and being rowdy. Never staying there again
Very good value and comfy bed despite it being a single bed when I'm more used to a double bed at home.
It's not in the best part of town but it was close to the venue I went to on the night of my stay. I know it's a hostel but I like having my own TV and en-suite, but for the money I paid, it was good value. I don't like having to get out of bed and leave my room to use the toilet: I do that at home.
really good location, daily free city walking tours, breakfast included, hostel contected to a really nice cafe, possibility to use computers with internet for free
problems with wifi, some of the personel don't know too much although some really helpful
Location. 3 minutes to Temple bar. 10 to nearest DART station. Friendly stuff.
Showers. Took 10 minutes tu run hot water.
Free breakfast, good location
Wifi works mostly in the common areas only. Heater in the room not working.
good locality, close to restaurants and pubs, supermarket is also nearby. Nice staff
paper thin walls and really small room with tiny window, there wasn´t hot shower in the evening and night, really cold in the bathroom and also cold in the room.
I stayed in avalon for quite a bit and perhaps it isn't the best place in the world ( just a few remarks on showers.. ;) ), it certainly feels like it is. Staff makes you very welcome and after a while you relalise you became a part of a big and happy family :) the location by itself is perfect, places that are a 'must see' are minutes away from the hostel :) anyways, I recommend this place to everyone willing to have a good time, meet a lot of new happy people and feel a nice warmth atmosphere :)
Staff is really amazing, especially Stefan! They have a table tennis which I love the most.
- location - vibe & staff - free breakfast
I know Dublin is expensive but the standard of the double room wasn't very high. Fine for a night's sleep but for 50 euros I'd expect a bit more.
location, Dublin itself
in January there was very poor heating, we were freezing actually... free breakfast was joke, as well as bathroom in our room.. if staying in Dublin again, definitely not Avalon anymore!
Good lounge / relax area in the lobby, quiet rooms, comfortable beds, walking distance to many attractions and nightlife, value for money.
Beds are very squeaky
I travelled with my 15yr old son and we had an en suite room. The room wasn't big but adequate for our needs.I booked here for the facilities that where available pool table, table tennis and the cinema as we couldn't stay out late at night because of his age.The staff where very helpful when called upon and we both enjoyed our stay.
The only problem we had was the heating was not working but when pointed out to the staff they provided me with a heater which was more than adequate.
Staff moved me to another room when I told them someone had their stuff all over my dorm bed.
Doesn't smell good. Shower room yucky. Common room too noisy to Skype. Wifi kept dropping so skyping was a pain. Really doesn't smell good.
Location sink at room
1.Noise from streets, the hostel had poor sound isolation via windows 2. Poor breakfest 3. 3x fire alarm about 2am 4. Small rooms and unstable beds 5. No or almost none boxes for things at rooms
The hostel was open over Christmas which was good.. The twin room had 2 proper beds which was great.. the sink in the room and shelves were a nice touch .. The cafe area was nice to chill in..
The bed was made with one large sheet folded over with the duvet on top so we slept between the folder fresh sheet.. This meant the sheet moved off the bed as we turned and was pretty annoying..
Bed poor, room cold, en suite dirty and no ventilation, free breakfast leaves a lot to be desired, extremely noisy, very inconsiderate guests and staff do not seem willing to help.
It was well located, the free breakfast was appreciated, you can also leave your luggages there for 2€ which is nice
Room for 4 is very small, shared showers are ok but nowhere to put your stuff...
The room was atrocious, the bathroom was disgusting and the entire thing smelled horribly of mildew. The room was freezing and when we asked about it we were told the heat was on a timer but no one knew what time. We were given an okay to do laundry in the basement and then were yelled by a worker for being down there.
Stable wifi. Good breakfast.
So freezing when taking shower.
