Only a 5 minute walk from Temple Bar in central Dublin, The Charles Stewart offers spacious rooms with private bathrooms with shower, free Wi-Fi, and full Irish breakfasts in a charming Georgian style...
Score from 2676 reviews Good
Good and generous breakfast, good bed, central position,
Luggage in front of our door ( but only our rooms), Tv remote controle doesn't work and can't be fixed
Walking distance to the center, and cheap.
Needs new windows as its on a busy road it's hard to sleep as its so noisy. Tiles loose in bathroom. Lots of Staines on ceiling etc. it could be so much better if they spent some money on it.
Proximity to the bus station and city centre
Everything else. Especially the plumbing in the room with private bathroom, which was not working properly. Had to use rubish bin to flush the toilet. Unacceptable!
Heat in the room wasn't on even when it was raining badly and heat would've being needed
Location and breakfast was good
The place is run down and poorly organised. The place is run down and badly needs an update. Toilet facilities are in between floors so you need to manage stairs to go to the loo. Water pressure on the top floor was low and kept going off altogether.
Loved the room, we where sent to a sister B&B up the street from the Avondale and got a room with a balcony for me a smoker this was a great advantage.
We where told at check in that breakfast was until 11am we went down at 10:15 and where informed by staff that breakfast was over, however the staff did get us toast, tea and orange juice as we where clearly frustrated! This is clearly a case in lack of commutation.
Very eazy to get around good locstion
The sheets on bed had fag burns on them outher then that the room was very clean Also the heating was on andcno way to turn it down in room i had to wake up and open the windown in middle of the nite
Room was filled with the bed.Too tiny shower, toilet. No table/ bed side drawer atleast to keep wallet, wrist watch or hand phone. As per definition, it is bed & BREAkFAST only.
Beds! Just terrible to wake up to the rest of it..
The room we got was totally diff from the pics. A room in the basement, smelling urin outside in the hall (from toilet next to the door). The walls literally falling apart inside the room, with big cracks getting bigger everytime you close the door. The door being "naked" with no place to leave the clothes, other than floor. Nice view from window to big pile of trash in backyard. Hospitality among staff was totally absent, and they often being rude. Shower in another floor. Been travelling a lot, but this is worst ever!
Location is fair
Room was dirty - there was dried blood (!) on our bedsheets. Coming in at nighttime an older gentleman 'greeted' us at reception by scowling and barking 'where are you staying' at us. There are much better places up and down this same street for similar prices. Would not stay here ever again
The location was great, breakfast was served quickly if a little small.
Our room (travelling with a child) was opposite the reception & next to the main road. It was noisy & we had lots of disturbance. The mattresses were dirty, old & really uncomfortable. The room was dirty & the Tv didn't work properly. No Irish staff was a pity. We won't go there again.
Price, comfy bed, polite staff, breakfast, wifi, location
O'Shea's Pub across the street saved this place from being a total disaster.
Small room, stuffy odor, too expensive and the breakfast was inedible except for the eggs, toast and coffee, which was minimally passable.
Location is great.
Very cold in room, toilet didnt work properly, last day of stay there was no light in toilet and staff couldnt fix the problem. Terrible smell in dining room from fried food - all your clothes start smell it. No wifi in rooms
The price, for what is a hostel charging hotel prices.
Good irish breakfast, quiet place, comfortable bed
Really small single room, shower with very thin water
Close to downtown, breakfast was good, staff was pleasant. The hotel across the street had music every night that was good
Street noise, the room had a leak when it rained
great location, cheap rate, clean enough, good breakfast, great for a weekend away in dublin!
very basic, communal toilets, firm bed
The reception people were very helpful and the room was basic but small but clean. The breakfast staff were very good and the food was plenty for a big person, The railway and bus terminal were very close and the city centre was close.
Stars were steep and some of the common areas were a bit knocked about
Room reasonably quiet, except being behind reception we heard doorbell ringing. breakfast ok. clean towels everyday and room tidied.
We reported a leak soaking our room. managers response was half hearted and she said she'd get handyman when we'd gone. Came back 12 hours (9 30pm) later, still a leak. Manager gone home and current worker told us she'd be in at 8am in morning. He thought we d accept night in leak ridden room. Offered us unacceptable basement room. After some exchage he got us a room in the glen b&b across street. Better room but more noise so sleep not great. better breakfast.
The price - still high, but okay for the center of dublin. Havn't expected that wifi and a tv would be included.
Little bit loud in the night due to other travellers.
Room ok, enough for just going to sleep; shower and washbasin inside. Well located, 10 minutes walking from Temple Bar and Trinity College. Also 5 minutes from a tram stop and O'Connell Street.
Not isolated from the noises of the street or the other rooms, and the curtain in the window let all morning light through. No lift. Breakfast ok, not too many other options than full Irish, though.
Staff at the breakfast
- Quality of the room - Maintenance of the facilities - Price: 150 euro for one night
Needed a place to stay at short notice so this is why it was booked as it was available and cheap. Was able to check in at eleven at night as open 24 hours.
Didn't like the quality of the building or the room. Lights hanging off the wall and found blood on one of the bed sheets. Needs updating and considering I can get a good quality hotel room for same Price it needs to be better maintained.
the windows could not close very well. The area is very noisy during the evenings. I had no choice for that night and booked in this hotel.
