The award-winning, brand-new Generator Hostel is located next door to the Jameson Distillery and Smithfield LUAS tram station.
Score from 1317 reviews Very good
Location Very warm room and water
No available towels Extremely noisy Not clean No facilities (e.g even a kettle, bath soap etc) Even though it's a budget hostel (50 a night is budget? hmm..) it didn't include ANYTHING, very loud, and the worst bed I slept in my life. With the same amount of money I have stayed in all included hotels (towels, bath soaps, and FREE breakfast). Avoid.
The staff listened attentively to a complaint I had about the standard of cleanliness in the room. The receptionist dealt with my complaint in a timely and satisfactory manner.
The cleanliness of the room was not much to write home about but for the price I was charged the standard of accommodation was reasonable.
- price - 24 hour front desk
- big fungus on the wall - accommodation in a shed behind the building instead of in main hostel - only beds and two chairs and no furnitures in the room - no lockers with the key - jamming door and lock - clogged toilet and no paper - in fact, this room should be not rented to anybody, until it will be reconditioned. I know that it is one of the cheapest hostel in Dublin, but it was the worst place I've ever been and the most expensive hostel I've ever been! I always choose the cheapest places. Even in Africa I had better conditions.
This backpackers has been the worst than I have ever been. The kitchen was dirty. There were only three showers to share with many people. Every shower was flooded, and quite disgusting. If I come back to Dublin I will not book my room here, I am sure.
Shower was yucky, it was very difficult to park
Near to the city center.
At that price must be available in a towel. The room felt very spartan. Surely this was not room in the photographs on the booking page.
We travel a lot but it was the worst accomodation we have ever had in our life. In the cellar, no furniture only one bed, very dirty room, the bathroom without light, the view to the place with litter and price 55 EUR a night. We refused to stay there so at the end we got another room in the different place - clean but like a freezer. We were really disappointed.
Location is great, the staff are great, facilities - great. The building is rather old, but the room is clean nevertheless
Location, and girls at the reception was friendly, were trying to help, but couldnt.
Room was really dirty, with Spider nets, i even refrain from touching tv remote and floor barefoot. The guy at The reception was so rude, wasnt helpful with directions to The city. Was talking all The time in a foreign language in a very kodu volume, it was disturbing. Working staff has no clue about The city, and even about transportation facilities. I paid 50 euro Per night, which was a lot for such a place. The shower has no warm and cold balance, you either freeze or boil.
Perfect location, close to the center and all attractions
- dirty room - noise outside due to terribly bad window isolation
Location was good!
The service was horrible, The hostel was cold, The Room was dirty, their was not warm water, the rooms were noizy, the other guest were rude and violent!
Location was quite good
Rude staff, dirty bed sheets, safety hazards!! (Broken window and door and fan hanging from cord in the washroom), absolutely disgusting walls, ceilings, showers, toilets. I have never complained about any accommodation before and I have stayed in over 50 hostels all over Europe. This was by far the worst. Very disappointed.
Location was perfect. Walking distance to the city center.
Cold room and very noisy. Hard to sleep. Showers were difficult to manage and water did not drain.
bed: good quality location: ideal for connections as rail, bus, airport heating: very good
water closed in the room: not correctly working.
Near railway tracks; not good value for money.
That I was woken durning the night by a romanian gypsie man shouting at me that I was in his bed, his friend then pulled the blankets off my female friend. The place was filthy and smelled like urine. I didnt even wash my hands because the sink was rank. The staff were shouting at a group of men when we came in and spoke very roughly, thy were really intimidating. I wouldnt sleep here again if I was pai too, the streets felt safer. Full of unsavoury carachters. I didnt sleep a wink even after a few drinks.
The location and proximity to Luas and Bus stations
The value for money. At €50 per night you would expect to have towels included in the booking.
- Room not very clean - Windows not hermetic to wind or sound
Location. It was very handy.
Room was atrocious. No heat at all, walls & windows were filthy, spiders & cobwebs everywhere. Shower was awful, wouldn't wash my cat in it let alone myself. So angry I paid €65 for 1 night in that hole, absolute rip off. Was like something from a horror movie. Won't ever be back.
The hostel is in a very good place, just a few minutes walk from O`Connelly street. You can come and go whenever you like cause they have 24/7 reception. The bed was really comfortable :) a lot of information about Dublin in the reception.
6 am other guests already started talking and walking in the hallway, one of them was drying her hair behind our door several mornings. We stayed there for a week and nobody came to see or ask if everything is ok or do we need anything (take the trash out, put toilet paper etc).
I booked a twin en-suite room and I did not get it even though booked 5 months earlier. It was double-booked
Everything. The rooms are very dirty. The bed unconfortable, even the sheets were dirty.
