Fabulous experience! We are a young couple from New York who stopped by for 2 nights. Beautiful landscape right on a river with a mountain in the background. Castle was gorgeous with sitting rooms downstairs (and fireplaces) with a pub and restaurant, bedrooms upstairs. Bedroom good sized with very comfortable bed. Fantastic views from bed and bath. Bedroom has electrical sockets that fit USA appliances. Staff was fantastic- literally ran to get us plate, knife, and corkscrew for the wine and cheese we had brought. Pub was one of our favorites with reasonable prices, fun atmosphere- and try the connemara whisky. Best breakfast we had in Ireland-- in fact, best breakfast we have had just about anywhere. Lots of trails around the castle and down the river- perfect for light hiking. We will definitely return and stay for a longer period of time.

Really friendly staff. Wood fires in Winter just great! Wonderful food in the restaurant. Really good wine list. No pipe music anywhere - brilliant. No lifts so be aware. But rooms are really good and the views are excellant.

I have stayed in Ballynahinch Castle Hotel 14 times and I've never been disappointed. It's like being in a time warp where everything stays as it always has, it has an old world charm with first class service and comfort. It is a hotel that totally spoils you so that no matter where you go in the world nothing else beats it (including many well known 5 star hotels!). It is heaven on earth and it's always difficult when the time comes to leave. It's location is also magic. Des and Breege are the pillars of the hotel. Hunting parties should not be allowed inside the hotel with 'unbroken' shotguns. This is a basic rule of shooting and I was extremely surprised to see guys inside the reception cradling their 'unbroken' shotguns!

The view on the river and woods, with the fishing 'stands' in full view; the wonderful air, so far out into the countryside; the friendly staff, attentive but unintrusive.

Our stay at Ballynahinch Castle was perfect in every way. The setting is unsurpassable. Our room was luxurious. The common areas were inviting and the staff eager to meet our every need. The breakfast was phenomenal..wide range of choices and served in a dining room overlooking the beautiful Ballynahinch River

This is a very special place to stay. It has all of the hallmarks of a top-class castle stay with the staff being in anyway pretentious. I would go there every week if I could afford it.

Although the Castle would not compare with Ashford or Dromoland, the grounds are awesome. The staff excelled in graciousness and knowledge. I would definitely stay here again. I was expecting a castle comparable to Dromoland--Ballynahinch is less in the actual castle; however, the grounds are beautiful and expertly maintained.

It was in a beautiful location We went to dinner at the restaurant on site and were not satisfied. We paid 60eur per person for the "five course dinner" and that was not including drinks. The first two portions were quite small, the main course was over cooked (beef filet) the dessert was good but the last "course" was tea!!! We would not pay for this again or recommend to others.

Ballynahinch is a wonderful place full of old school charm and faded grandeur. The location is beautiful and the grounds are gorgeous. The rooms were lovely with the right amount of castle 'creakiness' and comfort. A special treat! If you like the overly designed personality-less modern luxury hotels Ballynahinch is not for you.
