Ballyseede Castle  

Everything was absolutely fabulous! I stayed in this beautiful castle hotel for 3 nights during my holidays in the west. Although November is not the best time of the year to visit this part of Ireland, the experience in this hotel made it up for the weather. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful; the room is very comfortable and stylishly designed; the food (breakfast and dinner) is served to the highest standard; and the castle itself is just amazing! It is very tastefully designed, yet not at all pretentious. I would highly recommend it to anybody who is planning to visit this part of the country.

Being greeted at the front door by Arthur the Irish wolfhound and Einstein the ? Although being a castle it had a comfortable,homely feel. The food in the dining room and the bar was outstanding and inexpensive. The whole experience was better than I expected.

Beautiful rooms and lovely, relaxing atmosphere. It was wonderful to arrive there and not feel like you had to go anywhere to enjoy yourselves. It was a great relaxing time.

The place was beautiful, but there was a lot of little details that needed attention in the maintenance of the house. Broken decorations, and cracks in the walls and ceilings, worn carpets and upholstery. Everything looked a bit worn and ragged and needing some remodeling.

The Martin Family, all 10 of us, grandmother, parents, children, baby, loved the Castle, a real castle, filled with not one, but two wide stair- cases, big windows, big beds, fluffy covers and pillows, big bathroom and tub with strong, hot water. The kids liked the donkeys and ponies they saw first moment we arrived. Also, they'll remember friendly "Arthur" and the other dog whose name I can't remember, but he was sweet too. We all will remember the big dinner table in the castle dining hall, the kind servers who brought us dinner. We all enjoyed the big buffet and being able to order something special cooked just for us. We played frisbee in the backyard as the day turned to night about 9pm. Thank you very much!

We stayed only one night as we were touring Ireland, six different areas in just six days. We liked everything about the hotel during our stay. The kids couldn't get used to the bacon, only because ours' is skinny and crisp and yours' is wide and more chewy. The adults all loved it. So I guess we liked everything about the hotel.....

Beautiful setting! There was a minature horse with her one month old foal and four donkeys in a field just outside the front door. Arthur greeted us, he is an Irish Wolfhound and Einstein (some kind of mix ?). The staff was very helpful and cordial. We felt as though we were the owners of the castle! It was a lovely experience!

The staff was helpful and friendly. The food was excellent. Loved the dogs. You were all very accommodating to our large party. Thanks for the memorable night!

Directions on how to get there - perhaps more signage on the main road. Also, it was a little difficult to carry bags up stairs - a bellhop perhaps.

I could not recommend going to Ballyseede at Christmas time enough. Arriving to the sight of the front steps beaming with Christmas lights was delightful! We were spoiled with our timing, getting the chance to experience the castle fully decked out for Christmas. We were also lucky in that there did not appear to be many others staying in the castle while we were there. This led to a calm atmosphere which encouraged us to walk among the castle freely as if it were our own – as did the attentive attitude of the warm and friendly staff – particularly the chatty barman who provided welcome, and perfect amount of light-hearted entertainment over meal time (but without imposing too much). Each member of staff regularly asked if everything was ok and to our taste (both regarding our room, and our meals) and they did so with genuine concern. As for the food itself, the pre-laid breakfast platter, as well as menu choices, were plentiful and expansive. We ate in the bar both days; we had intended to only eat there one night - however, the food was so good the first night that we returned for a second. I personally must also mention the shower, which was the best I have experienced in a long time! Finally, as everyone mentions in these reviews, the house-dogs gave a homely touch to the already superb character of the whole operation at Ballyseede. A hearty ‘Thank you’ for all involved.

The room was perhaps a little too warm at times (even when had turned all hearters off). We also pondered the possibility of having dinner in the main dining room - but this requires an early booking. However there was no menu on display, and this factor put us off, as we were unsure of the prices, or if the options were too our taste. We would prefer to see the menu by ourselves before having consulting a member of staff.

After a 10 day stay in Ireland, Ballyseede Castle was our highlight....It was so grand when pulling up to Castle...The staff is so welcoming, along with the family dogs Arthur and Einstein. We were taken aback by the beauty and wonderful condition of the Castle...Our room was furnished with beautiful antiques and the bed was so so comfortable..We would stay again, only making it a longer visit.

I stayed at Ballyseede for a wedding, and loved it. The rooms are lovely (and very clean), the food was great, and there was a very relaxed atmosphere in the hotel. I would love to go back and stay again.

Breakfast was very good. Close to other areas that we wanted to visit.Very friendly staff.

I liked that the rooms had modern bathrooms, but the rest of the castle naintained it's old charm.
