City center. Easy to access.
Noisy in weekend. Guests come back midnight.
Staff was beyond helpful wish u could remember names.
Coming from canada I find most hostels overpriced for what you get. That being said the room was great an clean.
Being in the main street of Galway !
My bedroom was too much warm, such as a furnace !
Amazing location, close to everything you could need. Staff is super helpful and friendly, the price is something you can't beat, I will definitely stay here again.
Everything was great!
Locks on underbed storage would have been good, then we wouldn't have had to worry about leaving things even if they weren't that valuable. More breakfast options would also have been good, eg. different cereals.
The general conditions of cleanliness (very good to be an hostel, expecially in an anglo-saxon country).
location in high street
Location was amazing, staff were fantastic, brilliant price, great kitchen facilities and a quick and simple complimentary breakfast.
Rooms were a little on the warm side, meaning nose from outside could be heard from surrounding bars as the windows were always open.
very good central location in the pedestrian zone. Therefore, long noisy, and in the house. If a youth hostel and there you will be remembered. for one night it was ok very good central location in the pedestrian zone. Therefore, long noisy, and in the house. Great location, loved the free breakfast which you can't complain. Overall great stay.
I liked everything. Travelled the world and can honestly say it was better than some 3/4 hotels. The staff were fantastic very helpful. Good security and clean. Cheap for what you get.
The location was perfect for being in the center of shops and pubs. Donegal at the front desk was very helpful & friendly. Fun atmosphere
It was a little loud at night but they offer free earplugs at the front desk.
Staff were very friendly and very accommodating.
everything structure..intimacy..charm great staff location facilties being improved..price for every tre trte magnifique'
Just one loud mouth obnoxious guest
We really liked the location, the warm bedding, and information on tours in the area.
We didnt like the inability to control the water temperature in the shower. Also the breakfast was just bread, jam and juice, and more options would have been nicer even if there was a small fee.
Staff very friendly Free coffee/juice/bread/jam for breakfast
I wish there was a shared relaxation area open 24/7
most things , BFast , room etc
The wifi was on & off, shower wasnt too great , any stain on sheets - that sheet should be thrown away if it cant be remove.
The staff were warm and friendly. They will tell you their favorite restaurants, sites, and chat a bit about how your day went. The location is central to shopping and food. I was here several days and watched the maid come by and clean the lines and the kitchen on a regular basis. there are lockers under the beds, so bring a pad lock.
So, imagine the North Pole. Now imagine a little gnome, all bundled up fr the winter, chipping away at the ice. Then imagine him cramming that block of pure blue ice into the water pipes and out through your shower head in a thin, frozen drizzle. After he sits gleefully giggling at his mischievious bit of fun, he finally relents, fishes out his wrench and allows a trace of warmth to taint the water. Some five or six pushes of the button later, your poor blue, shivering body actually begins to feel this suggestion of warmth-- but that's all you'll get-- a suggestion that almost aspires to luke-warm. If you are a 'young thing' looking for a pint and some craic-- you've found the right place, dead on. If you are the sort who wants a decent night's sleep and a good walk around town that might include a museum or two-- forget it my friends. The noise in the halls will keep you up more than the bands out in the pubs.
Loved the location. I stayed there as we were heading out to see the nightlife in Galway city, and we were surrounded by some of the most amazing pubs with live music. Barnacles really is located at the heart of the city life. But once you go to bed, we never heard a sound from the people on the street outside. Also the staff were extremely friendly, bedrooms lovely and comfortable, and the price - couldn't of asked for a better deal.
A little disappointed with the breakfast the next morning. A continental breakfast was supposed to be provided as part of the deal. It was just orange juice and toast really, but it didn't bother us too much as we were up and heading away early.
I liked the atmosphere of the place- very homey
Breakfast- I think other options besides toast should be available (perhaps cereal, fruit, tea)
No hair dryer available when it states online that there is. Not great value for money, breakfast was poor and rooms are small.
The staff were very nice and helpful. The location was excellent, right in the heart of the city. We felt very welcome and comfortable and would definitely stay again
The water temperature in the shower was not adjustable and was only lukewarm, it would have been refreshing in summer but not in middle of winter.
Having booked on line I paid by cash on arrival, however the money was also frozen in my account for a number of days. I was not aware of this and as a result was short 42 euro for my trip.I am unemployed and this is a considerable amount when you are on a low budget. I would have been better off paying on line all together
Excellent hostel, really helpful staff. clean comfortable dorms
There was a strong smell in the hallway
