The only good thing about staying at Barry's Hotel is that you can walk into town easily. However, it is at the seedy end of town so I wouldn't recommend walking home to it. Even when you get a taxi back to it late at night, the atmosphere is quite hostile as there is a very rough nightclub on the premises and between the customers and the security staff, we didn't feel particularly safe trying to enter the hotel on either night. We didn't like anything. From the moment we got there, everything was awful. The extremely loud and rude receptionist told us that there was no lift and that we had been told that - we hadn'T. We were only given one key, there were four of us. We had emailed and specifically asked for four single beds but got given the room with a double and two singles because the room with the four singles was awful - the receptionist's own words - the room we got wasn't great. Not very clean, tiles hanging off in the bathroom, four small and hard towels, bathroom door didn't close properly, the beds were incredibly lumpy, the iron we had to ask for was black and smelled of burning, the breakfast we got on Saturday morning was horrific - the sausages were sour, the bacon was a lump of fat, the fried egg was burned, the teapot with the coffee was broken and the whole bar area where the breakfast was served was the nightclub the previous night and the tables were sticky and the whole place had a filthy feel to it. But probably the worst of all was the horrendous noise all night long - on Friday in particular there was a very hostile crowd in the hotel and the noise of them fighting did not stop until after 6am. On Saturday, people in the next room to us were still drinking and shouting at 7am. We didn't approach any of these people or even venture outside the rooms because we felt very intimidated. An awful experience...we will never be back.

The reason I chose Barry's was the price for this location. It is literally 2 minutes walking from Dublin's main street, 5 minutes walking from main shopping street, 15 minutes walking from Tempe Bar area. This was the best price for this location. Except the location, the hotel has no other good points. In sort: You will have to climb a lot of stairs with your luggages in order to get to a shabby worn dirty room with a terribly uncomfortable bed so you will wake up with a bad back every single morning. (Room 14) In more details: Hygiene and comfort are definitely not the strongest points of this hotel. The hotel has 4 levels with long stairs and no lift, so be prepared to climb loooong stairs with your heavy luggages. The room was small, the bathroom even smaller. The bath had cracks on it and definitely wasnt properly cleaned. I found pistachio shell in the room (it wasnt me who ate it). The TV in the room was at least 15years old with no remote. (should be in a museum instead of a hotel) The worst thing was the mattress: obviously someone very heavy slept on it and left a huge impact on the mattress, it caved in very badly, very very uncomfortable for sleeping, actually IT WAS THE WORST BED I SLEPT IN DURING THE LAST 5 YEARS and have really travelled over the world and slept in many hotels and beds.

i liked its location its only a short walk to the city centre The hotel is freezing and the bar was freezing as well on the the coldest few days we have had so far. The remote control for the tv in our room didnt work the kettle was faulty you had to plug out the tv to use it and fiddle around with the wire to get it to work very dangerous / the bathroom lock on the door was dodgy also. Lock on the room door wasnt great either . I didnt enjoy my stay all was very disappointed with the whole experience . My wife complained about the kettle and the man in reception was rude when he came up to the room to look at the kettle. I would like a reply to this survey as i will no that ye read it

The location is good. It was too expensive for the weekend we stayed which was a busy weekend. It should not be called a hotel. It is a Pub/B&B. I had asked for a quiet room at the back when booking. I got a low room at the front and was awake until 3 A.M. listening to the rowdy crowd coming from the disco downstairs

The hotel is in a great location close to the centre and a nice walk to all the amenities in the area eg, temple street, cinemas, restaurants, shopping centres also great value for money. I feel it could do with a lift as we had three flights of stairs to our room they were a bit tricky,

Bed was comfortable, thats about it. One member of the staff (a foreign male receptionist) was the worst receptionist I've every come across. The area is very very rough. Fights outside every night night, blood outside the hotel doors in the morning, roaring and shouting until 4am every morning. Not a policeman in sight so all hell breaks loose every night. Do Not Stay Here.

I did not find the staff courteous or helpful. The rooms though clean were dated with old furniture etc. Dated old fashioned old interior for the hotel in general.
