I love historical homes and this one has been done up with modern conveniences but retaining the old world atmosphere. The tour through the castle was very interesting and our guide very knowledgeable. The pub done up like a galleon was the most unique I've ever seen. Well worth a visit even if just for dining.
We loved the whole experience except there are no lifts which is quite common in older facilities. In fairness, we were offered help if we needed it for the luggage. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful.
We lived this place from the minute we arrived. The building is just stunning and the decor is superb. The staff are very friendly and full of knowledge about the local amenities and also what to do further a field. We had the tasting menu on the Saturday night and oh boy it was eight courses of heaven. Truly the best dinning experience of our lives. The bar is also a lovely place to relax both pre and post dinner. Overall a truly wonderful experience and cannot wait to return to experience Belleek again.
Food absolutely superb.Really enjoyable experience. Will recommend to all my friends. And will definitely return.
The front of house staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and very clean.
I thought the room was very clean and comfortable but I would have liked a room that had more character. I expected to stay in a room that was more in keeping with the character of the hotel.
standards even in restaurant has dropped, part baked bread, cold and dry as stored in colroom,, cold dinner plates, asked for fries got wedges, waitress taking plates before even finished and not asking, overall attention to detail is an issue perhaps head chef/manager not on service
Staying in belleek was like being welcomed home. Service was excellent and all the staff were friendly and approachable. The food was 5 star and we loved the relaked manner throughout our stay..we will return
The location of the hotel was amazing and the staff were both professional and friendly. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the decor was original and very fitting.
Due to the fact that our room (no.3) was at the top of the stairs, we could hear everything! Noise from the bar (Which was hosting Christmas parties), noise from reception and the noise of other guests in the hotel. The Electric kept going off in the room which caused me to fall in the bathroom. It was a sleepless night in all and we will not be returning to the hotel.
From the moment we arrived everything was laid back ,staff all excellent , food to die for and ambience of the castle was in built,a very special place for a lovely break, will be back.
room, food, staff
From the min we entered the castle to the moment we left it was amazing. Everything you dream about when your young of staying in a castle is here. Truly an exceptional castle
WiFi is poor but u quickly forget about the outside world when u start looking around the castle.
The food and wine were first class and pleasantly surprised by the character and surroundings
the castle itself, the dining room, the candlelit entrance hall at night, very friendly/attentive staff, the evening meal, the surroundings and walks close by.
well nothing really but the breakfast room maybe could do with a face-lift. and bar prices quite steep!
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Lovely cosy atmosphere with great food.
The double bed was the smallest bed I have ever experienced in any hotel.
Comfortable facilities. It is a nice peaceful area suitable for walks and other outdoor activities. The breakfast is good. This Hotel is good value and a nice step back in time
You pay for first night stay before you arrive. Despite this they still ask for your credit card when you arrive. You card details are written into a notebook. I think this is a very dangerous practice for any guest to have your credit card details freely available in a notebook in the office. The breakfast table was not set properly on the 2 mornings we stayed. No napkins, no cups and some cutlery missing. On second morning we ordered coffee. But the coffee pot we received was only quarter full and cold. I think the waitress brought the wrong pot out of the kitchen! If you move around the Hotel you seemed to be stopped and asked if you were staying for dinner! Over kill! Staff in general were nice but owner/manager seemed stuffy and aloof.
Staff so attentive and professional once you arrived you were treated like royalty Maya was so kind and very professional Special word to Ciaran his knowledge of the castle and all its history made the break all the more exciting and so informatie Ciaran very friendly and treated us so well This was a fantastic weekend break and Paul Maya and all the staff made it so special The food was amazing and you just have to taste the bullock steak best steak I have ever had I can see why it has such wonderful reviews as it is a wonderful place with it museum underneath of fossils and armory The bedroom was beautiful as was all the castle would definitely recommend
having to leave
The peace and quiet The feeling of being in a special place
What fantastic service. This castle is set in a wooded area north of Balina. Great for walks. The room was large with a great view. The evening meal that we had was one of the best ever, although not cheap.
The bathroom looked a little dated.
Loved everything about the hotel and the woods around were great for walking.
Wi fi was not good.
Location, surroundings, walks, north county Mayo, fireside pub atmosphere, breakfasts, fine dining, friendly clientele, and lots more!
Sound of doors banging, could be the small locker doors in bathroom! Post of four poster bed blocks TV viewing in Room 7
We only stayed one night, but from the minute we arrived we were very well looked after, the staff were very attentive, we were shown to our room by the girl on reception, most hotels would just give directions. Our room was lovely, very clean and comfortable. We had the gourmet menu in the restaurant that evening, and the food and service was absolutely fabulous. Special mention has to go to Ciaran in the bar, who was very friendly and gave us a great insight into the Castle's history.
If I have to make a very slight criticism, it would be the lack of shelf space in the bathroom. But other than that, we couldn't fault a thing
As always our experience here is very good. The castle and its charm made me fall in love with it the first time we stayed here, and I am still in love. We stayed in the same room! Everything was the same, even the bed... way too soft for my back. Breakfast was very good as always and dinner excellent. I mean, the whole experience was amazing and I recommend this hotel to everyone.
I have a two complains: First, the second day we went to breakfast there was nothing on the buffet, I mean no bread, no fruit salad, no muffins, not even yogurt. First day it was perfect, but second time was a disaster. Made to order breakfast was more than perfect! Second, we had dinner one of the nights and we had the 5 course special. I asked for the Wild Salmon and they brought me something that was not near salmon. It was fine, not good (I had to use the meat knife to cut it!). If you do not have the fish you offer, then you should say something, then I would have asked for the drunken beef, that by the way was delicious! Everything else was perfect.
...stories about the castle told by the bartender & the hot toddy he made to help me sleep well. ...the owner's collection of historic artifacts.
Genuine personal attention
Food was excellent,as was the level of comfort.Staff were brilliant, going above and beyond when they knew we were celebrating. We will be back.
Sure,what's not to like?!
atmosphere was amazing . So relaxed
The only problem or fault I would have with my stay there was that in the evening when we stayed in the bar for a drink and to relax it was used as a waiting room for people dining. We felt in the way there. We felt we had to stay in our room to relax. That was my only bad experience
