Staff, welcome, and attention to detail to make our stay enjoyable. Rooms were very good, clean and well appointed. Breakfast was excellent and enjoyed by all in our party.

They have thought of everything, from the moment you step through the door and are welcomed with tea and cake. All the relevant information that you could want is provided and very friendly staff.

Great location: 5 minute (safe) walk into Clifden's town center and a great central location to explore Connemara, including a beautiful one-hour drive to the ferry port from which to visit Aran Isle, Inis Mor. Clean, efficient owner, who was very helpful with planning our days.

Owners were very friendly. Room was luxury & spotlessly clean! Fantastic breakfast. Beautiful place. Real boutique accommodation. Top class. I have travelled the world & this was one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. A lovely surprise.

The Buttermilk Lodge is not only a wonderful place, it is also staying at the top year after year. A must for all travellers who plan to stay in Clifden.

eagerness to help and offer suggestions, nothing seemed to be of any trouble in their effort to accommodate you. The rooms were perfectly decorated and cozy, a gathering room where tea was served in the afternoon around a warm fire gave you time to relax before preparing for dinner at one of the fine dining restaurants and pubs, only a short walk into town. The hot breakfast was delicious and prepared individually to your liking, nothing less then top notch. The O'Toole were very interesting and the the perfect host and hostess. Of all the B&B the Buttermilk Lodge will always be the benchmark so much so we extended our stay... Frank, Carol & Kate

friendly hosts, excellent breakfast, spotless throughout, location was perfect.

I thought that the owners were extremely welcoming, the facilities were excellent and that they had gone to a lot of trouble to make the experience comfortable and special. The little things like the fire in the lounge, the availability of tea and coffee in the lounge made our visit memorable. The standard of the breakfast, the variety of choices and the manner in which it was served were also excellent.

There was nothing about our visit that I did not like and could not find any fault.

We were welcomed with a warm fireplace and homemade scones and tea. The room was big enough and very clean. The bed was really comfortable!! Breakfast is so good that should be illegal! And Catherine helped us with directions! Excellent 1 night stay! Definitely recommended!

The cow theme for the decoration might put off some people but for us was very nice and really felt like countryside!

The guesthouse was very homely & we felt very much at home, when we were there - It was nice & warm throughout the house & there was coffee & tea available at all times. Catriona ( the landlady ) couldn't have been more helpful & also helped to plan our daily trips! There was a fantastic breakfast menu available. I would thoroughly recopmmend it as a base for anyone wishing to explore the area. John & Christa

Very professionally run modern guest house with lots of attention to detail. Spotlessly clean and very quiet at night. Good range of choices for breakfast. Good off road parking. Only 10 minutes walk from Clifden centre and a range of places to eat. Mitchells restaurant was particularly good.

The cow motif was a bit overdone for our tastes. although it would not put us off returning to what is a superb guest house.

I liked the parking on site and the location was ok. Just a short walk through a neighborhood to get to city center where the pubs and restaurants are. Breakfast was great!

It was a little overpriced. After staying in other B&Bs in Ireland at different locations, I can see now that for Clifden and the money, this was a little overpriced for what you get.

extremely good BB. Far better than many hotels. Rooms well presented and very comfortable. Wonderful welcome, staff very efficient and helpful but not intrusive. Lovely lounge with peat fire for guest use. Everything you needed was provided, great attention to detail.
