Caitin'sKells, Cahirciveen, Glenbeigh (Show map) Good, Score from 64 reviewsOverlooking Dingle Bay, midway between Glenbeigh and Cahirciveen, Caitin's is a traditional old-style pub with guest accommodations. Access to the Kerry Way walking route runs alongside Caitin's. Caitin's has been run by the Golden family for over 100 years. It provides very high-quality accommodations, and friendly, helpful staff. Within one mile there is a post office, grocery shop, gas station and a safe blue-flag beach for swimming. Hotel Rooms: 10

We stayed there on feb 12th on a saturday. the hotel was basically closed for the season but they kindly opened for us and other guests arrived from germany four girls. It was a most wonderful time with the best view I have ever seen in a guest house. The bar opened at seven in the evening with a warm fire and great atmosphere. We highly recommend this guest house hotel. John and JoAnn Cahill Mallow Cork Ireland

I loved the spectacular views of the bay and surrounding mountains. Our hosts were very warm and helpful, and you can't beat a good pint in front of the warm fire.

It was a lovely location and the building had character as well as comfort. The breakfast was get your own but plenty of food was left out for us to use. There weren't any staff around in the morning though.

On the site it says it is 17km from dingle but it is actually 85km which after a long day of driving put an extra hour and a half on our journey, I was not impressed as the only reason I booked it was it was a short distance from dingle. There was no breakfast as it is a hostel not a hotel. When I wanted to check out in the morning at 8.45 there was no one around and I had to wait for someone to come let us out.

Good welcome - at our arrival at 22h we were hungry, our host set off and came back with a basket of sandwiches. Fantastic views from the rooms. On the RIng of Kerry road. Interesting array of characters at the pub bar. Rooms a bit chilly

The owner was very welcoming This is not a hotel - It is a hostel and suitable for young backpackers - not for Senior Citizens looking for a quiet time

Warm greeting from very friendly staff and family members. Great location for touring by car, Mountain views and the pretty, safe, Kells sandy beach close by (car). Room in Annex small but new, clean and quiet. Breakfast self catering in communal kitchen looked ok but we preferred Pat's excellent cooked breakfast a two miles drive down the road. We had a supper in the pub which was very good. Put off by the four coaches on our arrival in the rain meant we had to cross the road with our luggage. The coaches soon left but re-appeared the following morning. The small room with en-suite in the annexe was lacking hanging facilities. The Friday night live music arrived after ten pm too late for us.

It was quiet, modern and the bed was very comfy. I had the best nights sleep for a long time. The pub food is quite pricey

The welcome we received from the owner was fantastic! The room was spotless and the facilities downstairs, kitchen & lounge, were great. Pub had nice cosy atmosphere too. Kells beach is a must! Absolutely gorgeous. There was a fan (I think) outside our room and that was all you could hear during the night. Also it'd be best to have a car with you unless you're into walking as you're a good distance from both Glenbeigh & Cahirciveen.

There was no staff for the check-in. We had to call a mobile number and wait to someone who came from another hotel for 20 minutes. No Breakfast served, just a non well-provided kitchen for self preparing breakfast

Even though no-one was there when we arrived, I rang the number on the booking sheet and someone was there to book me in within minutes. The staff at Caitin's are very friendly and welcoming. The twin bedroom was very comfortable. A good place to get away from everything. Some lovely walks around but we couldn't go on The Kerry Way walk due to a mix of the rainy weather and not having proper walking footwear. Me and my 6 year old daughter thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and we will be back again. This part is not a complaint from me but it is just a heads up for the review readers. Caitin's do breakfast but it is self-catering only. It has a communal kitchen so if you are shy or uncomfortable in eating with people you dont know then there is a place to eat breakfast 2km down the road, although this is not included in the price of Caitin'S. The bar does food but only from 6-9pm thursday to sunday. Very close to a main road so there is noise from the traffic. If you are not used to the noise of traffic then you are best to ask for a room at the back.

The proprietor was very personable, and very available to recommend the local sights. The food at the attached pub was excellent and the desserts were especially wonderful! The ocean view was spectacular, as well. When the pub didn't serve food, there was a completely outfitted kitchen where we could cook our own meals. The common space around the kitchen and tv lounge gave a place where we were able to meet other guests as they traveled through. The rooms directly above the pub would benefit from better sound- proofing when the pub crowd gets noisy (which was not all the time.)

The staff were lovely and helpful; rooms were fantastic with amazing views out over Dingle Bay. Having the pub with great food downstairs was also a great advantage, as we were about a 10 minute drive to the next town.

The rooms were very large and clean. The en-suite was exellent, just been re-furbished or new build. Food was very good and the staff could not do enough for us. Would stay there again and recomend it to any one. The out side, from the road, was not the best.

Excellent family history with the pub and area. Been in the same family for almost 100 yrs! Very warm welcome, and super friendly folks. Legitimate local pub with interesting locals to chat with. Good pub food although only available Thursday thru Sunday, but proximity of Glenbeigh helps in this regard. We stayed in the lovely néw apartment 2 bedrooms kitchen ensuite fir €100/ night ( family of 4). You kind of need a car to fully enjoy this spot.

I felt like "home away from home". Our room was very cosy and the staff was really friendly. Pub downstairs has an atmosphere of a lounge full of friends. It's far from any towncenter so you can only stay there overnight if you have already had a pint.

Member of family was very obliging and willing to please his/her guests. Food was good and service was excellent. Very relaxed place, unfortunately the night we stayed there was no music, but seemingly there is music on friday and saturday night. View from hotel breathtaking. Would certainly go back again.

Its location gave access to a variety of touring possibilities including walking, swimming, motoring and sea trips. It is described as a hotel, but in fact, it is a hostel. There were no staff to receive guests and the guests were expected to cater for themselves for breakfast.

“We loved everything about this hotel, from the excellent location, the extremely friendly and helpful staff, the luxury and comfort of the bedroom and the lounges and sitting rooms overlooking the breathtakingly beautiful Dingle Bay. The breakfasts were superb with a large selection of fresh food to suit all tastes and dietary requirments. We had a meal in the restaurant on our final evening and it was amazing. The leisure facilities,ie. the pool and gym, were excellent too although I didn't use them as much as I could have. I will on my next stay which will be soon, I hope. Although we only booked to stay for three nights we didn't want to leave so we stayed an extra two nights.” Decaln, Dublin |
